Hi, fast traveler !

The first real thing to consider in your story is that
the CLOSEST/NEAREST star to us is 4.5 LY away.
It MUST have an habitable planet. Does it?

If not, your best OTHER star with a "good" planet is __._ LY away ??

Will you live long enough, with the 2nd alternative ?
