Perhaps, but that misses the point of my question.
That is your interpretation.

Looking at it another way, this is the same meme we see time and again. UFO riding in the tail of a comet.

One group of folks believed it so much they killed themselves in mass hoping to hitch a ride as it passed by.

THAT cultural belief seems ingrained for some reason and I assume it is because comets and other seemingly random celestial bodies are mysterious to us. Its like a hard-wire to the god belief or something.

Truth is, if you believe this nonsense, you are doing so because you are believing in the same thing that caused a couple dozen weirdos to drink cyanide laced koolaid a few years back.

Its as simple as that.
Its just a comet, or asteroid, or whatever.
It is NOT a propulsion system for an advanced spacecraft.

End of story.
That's all I need to know to know there is no truth to this story

No, what caused them to drink the poison was not believing there was a UFO behind the comet.... What caused them to drink the poison was a much stranger belief that, by ending their life at the right moment, this would somehow allow some interaction between themselves and the supposed UFO behind the comet.

Besides...I'm not sure what image you refer to, but if its the one I am thinking of, with about 4 UFOs and a planet and a comet, then I'm pretty sure most have interpreted that to be a depiction of UFOs stopping an object from hitting earth. Thus the "hammer" hitting the comet head-on.

If you are talking about a different image, I apologise.

But my initial claim still stands. It is very errant of you to say that "believing there is a UFO riding behind the comet" is to believe "the same thing that caused some people to off themselves". It is as if you are saying all believers in a UFO behind a comet are so unstable that they are on the brink of suicide.

Don't try to defend this. I'm quite accustomed to this method of ridicule by "finding some way to link your opponent with something outlandish or even dangerous".

That's like me saying: "By accusing people of being mentally unstable without a proper diagnosis, you are believing the same thing that caused some people to burn people alive who were accused of witchcraft". Sure there is a link between the two, but it is flimsy at best.

I can believe all day long that there is a UFO hiding behind a comet. (i dont) But until I start to believe that, by killing myself, I can somehow interact with this hypothetical UFO, then I am not "believing the same thing that caused some people to drink cyanide laced koolaid a few years back." (i believe it was over 13 years ago...)

As you have said Ufo taking a Hitch from a Comet...

UFO riding in the tail of a comet.

NOW where did i here about this Before???

Life force ( Movie ) ...

A joint US-UK crew on board the space shuttle Churchill is on a mission to investigate Halley's Comet under the command of US Air Force Colonel Thomas Wolfe Carlsen (Railsback). They find a 150-mile long alien spaceship hidden in the comet's corona, seemingly derelict. Upon entering the spacecraft, the crew finds hundreds of dead, shriveled bat-like creatures and three naked humanoid bodies (two male and one female) in suspended animation within glass containers. The crew recovers the three aliens and begins the return trip to Earth.

Yes, it would be cool if they were genuine, but they probably aren't.
And even if they were it "proves" nothing. All it shows is that ancient people were no less superstitious than we are today.

Riding the wake of a comet is nonsensical as a means of deep space travel - period.

We see it all the time right here on ATS..."Comet ISON has a group of bodies following it. Ergo space craft".
That premise is freakin' ridiculous. That's as nicely as I can put that.

ETA: I have no comment on the video of the mummies.
That stuff is for another thread.
edit on 24-11-2013 by JayinAR because: (no reason given)

I really do not see this premise of UFOs behind comets all that much here on ats... I must have missed out on some threads.

I can't even remember the last time someone said that. I do remember the vector pic where people said it LOOKED like a spacecraft
But, I did want to point out to you...or rather, ask you... Who said it has to be a means of interstellar travel?

I ask because whoever that person is who said that...well, they may be flawed in their thinking. Maybe they use one method for interstellar travel, but must use other means when they are closer to a star and its planets so as not to disrupt the orbits, or kill off any life. Or maybe the interstellar engines are just too damn fast to rationally use inside a solar system. Too many variables one must react to. Such as if another ship warps in. Maybe the first ship doesn't have warp technology. When near stars, where warp-faring civilizations are likely to appear, they must always be prepared to react to any changes in their vicinity. So they take the "slowpoke" way in.

Entire missions could be planned around the orbit of comets. Some planets/stars may have not been visited in a long time just because it has very low comet activity within its vicinity. Except by the warping civilizations of course. But nobody can ever talk to a warping civilization member to find out, because they, like humans with their smartphones, are so damn obsessed with their precious fancy warping technology that they are too busy using to teach to anyone else, that they can hardly hold a coherent conversation, or even form a cohesive sentence, without warping off to some location they got distracted by in their thoughts. Apparently, instantly visiting any place you want in the whole universe is rather addictive, like the internet kinda.

Maybe it was a warping/wormhole-faring civilization, but they warp here somehow or through a wormhole, and when they arrive, outside our oort cloud, it creates some kind of explosion or energy storm/burst thingie like in star trek something so they cannot be too close to us. Then, in order to get into the heliopause, they hitch a ride to save energy. Cause they could just sit back, perhaps in a lagrangian point, and barely use thrusters or whatever to maintain a stable relationship with the comet. I don't think this is what is happening. But, does it make it any less obsurd if we eliminate the "interstellar" portion of the premise?

Why are people obsessed with the whole Mayan thing? The end of the world prediction has been debunked and still we are getting excuses like a calendar miscalculation or whatever, and now it's a new date.

These artifacts are fake...

It's all doom porn and I am sure most people can see through the hype.

One day we will comprehensively reject folklore mysticism and ancient ignorance, and stick to science and common sense.
What we should really be discussing is planetary resources per head of population, and unchecked population growth - now there is some real doom porn!!!!!!!!

It's all part of a gradual disclosure. Step by step 'they' will tell us the truth. But for now it's still too early.

Because 1) There were plenty of tour operators who made money on the whole Mayan Apocalypse mythos and 2) There were plenty of gullible Ancient Astronaut fed, science illiterates who bought into it and now have a need to believe that "it was just a couple years off".

These artifacts are fake...

Yep. But someone will still probably buy them. Crystal skulls and all....

It's all doom porn and I am sure most people can see through the hype.

That would require actually spending money on a better education system.

There are plenty of resources and ways to get more, if we actually committed to living in a sensible way but that's another forum topic.

I'm guessing the two producers were trying to release this before 2012 to cash in on the 2012 hysteria - but then their relationship went south, and Julia-Levy swiped the footage and most of the harddrives, and both were charging each other with fraud, making it impossible for the "documentary" to be released on time. So now it's being released under a different meme, that of Mayan-alien contact as opposed to Mayan-2012-doomsday. Hey, a good scam artist has to flexible, right?

Does anyone know who actually has possession of these “artifacts”?
Last year in this thread
www.abovetopsecret.com...
it was shown that the Blossom River Group (whoever they are) was advertising some of them for sale on the internet with the prices in the $Millions
They offered scientific studies on the artifacts, but after it was shown that these studies were bogus (by email inquires) their website was taken down.

I think the artifacts are fake.

Bad news for my commemorative plate collection.

It's the Dropa stones all over again.

Aww, this is in LoL.

Where is the information that solidifies this as a hoax or a joke??

I provided a video of them handling the artifacts in daylight and basically showing you the cool details of them.

Well, the fact that the Mexican Government has not even commented on these fakes, despite what the title says should give you a indication.

Artificial objects don't necessarily qualify as artifacts. There is absolutely no information corroborating the authenticity of these being artifacts. And since the source claims these are from the INAH, one can easily verify that through the INAH.

So it's obviously B.S. there isn't even any need to speculate, the sources primary mistake was attributing this 'find' to a REAL agency.

Yeah but the artifacts are fake. Just because they are handled in daylight does'nt mean they are real. Yes there are cool details on them, all fake.
Can you not accept that?

I'm Hopeless...

Going through the last video I posted. At time in video 1:16.

There is an Arrowhead pendant laying on the table with a modern grey, almost alien workshop skateboard style alien head. Which is also similar the logo for Mr. Big's aerospace business. Just the modern Grey avatar.

It seems out of place.

Could there be fakes mixed in with authentic pieces??

One bad apple spoils the bunch....

Then the what if, If they are all authentic.

To our knowledge the Children of Ahkenaten and Nefertiti Carving is Authentic and still the humanoids are extremely out of place.

The artistic freedoms that were taken are very interesting...

I looked into this and found that Raul Julia-Levy was taken to court over this documentary by Elisabeth Thieriot regarding the documentary. I've read a couple articles on this which basically states that Raul Julia-Levy is a fraud and has lied about Mexico's involvement. If interested to learn the truth, please read the links provided

Also check out Elisabeth Thieriot's website in which she explained the lawsuit and has videos of her documentary after the lawsuit.
