So cheesy: What do you think will happen to Ison?

Your money on it going round the sun and staying intact or breaking up?

I think its looking pretty good for staying intact, which is the best for a lovely show
You know because it flying into the sun it would just go "fzzz" and be over

Another cool question to know the answer to is, how long as Ison been doing this risk orbit? If its been going round and round every several hundred years, i wonder how big it might have been when it first formed up (or broke off something larger?)

I remeber halleys comet well, i really want to see this in day time in the sky

this is ISON's very first trip into the inner solar system.

From your link..

but because this is ISON's very first trip into the inner solar system. That means it is still made of pristine matter from the earliest days of the solar system's formation, its top layers never having been lost by a trip near the sun. Along Comet ISON's journey, NASA has used a vast fleet of spacecraft and Earth-based telescopes to learn more about this time capsule from when the solar system first formed.

@ OP~ I agree with other posters... looks like "seed's of life" (aka sperm) and for this reason is how life begins, so says Panspermia.

Hey cheesy, thanks for these posts... always a great read/watch!

Do you know when we will be able to see it at it's brightest? And will it be at a certain time of day/night that we can see it? I haven't read much on it in a little while!

Lets just hope the sun doesn't hadouken it.

You asked a question, I gave you an answer. You're welcome. You don't like the answer? Oh well, argue with them about it.

One possibility off the top of my head is the eccentricity of its orbit says it's not coming back. Does that mean it's never come through before? I'm not sure.

ETA:

Comet ISON’s eccentricity is 1.000003457 – just ‘over’ 1! If you’ve not already worked this out for yourself, this suggests that its presence in our Solar System is an event that has never happened before and will never happen again. Instead of it having a highly elliptical orbit around our Sun, it seems ISON is just passing through.

www.cometison2013.co.uk...

If that's incorrect then by all means let us know what bull said when you called.

You're welcome Cheesy.
I haven't found many apps like this for the android, there is one called 'ISON Finder'
Here, but it's not nearly as detailed. I got lucky and received an iPad for use at work, otherwise I'd probably be using that one as well.

Hi my friend here the solar fleet flyby toward the dengerous sun..

Because NASA's twin STEREO probes are designed to observe the sun, they can see sundiving comets even when the glare becomes intense. Yesterday, Comet ISON joined Earth, Mercury, and Comet Encke in the field of view of STEREO-A's Heliospheric Imager. Click on the image to view ISON's grand entrance:

"The dark 'clouds' of stuff you see coming from the right are density enhancements in the solar wind, and these are what are causing all the ripples you see in comet Encke's tail," explains Karl Battams of NASA's Comet ISON Observing Campaign. "I can pretty much promise you that we're going to see ISON's tail doing that in a couple of day's time, but on a much larger scale!"

Battams points out another exciting development: Comet Encke and Comet ISON are converging for a photogenic close encounter. "No they're not going to hit each other - in reality they are millions of miles apart - but as seen from the STEREO-A spacecraft, they are going to get very close!" he says. "We are probably a couple of days away from seeing two comets almost side-by-side in that camera, with long tails flowing behind them in the solar wind. To say that such an image will be unprecedented is rather an understatement." Stay tuned for that

www.spaceweather.com...

Great post.
But either something is wrong or I am missing something. From what I have read so far is that ISON is/was the closest it was going to get to the sun, right now or a little bit ago, and Dec. 26 it suppost to be as close to the earth as it is going to get. So how can the picture/video show ISON, earth, sun (left to right, as the pic shows ISON traveling)? I thought ISON was currently going around the sun then heading our way. So, if that was true it should either be: earth, ison, sun or earth, sun, ison, correct?
Help please

It is suppost to be clear here were I live (for the viewing time in this area), tomorrow morning, I will be breaking out a tele to try and find it (ISON) and since venus is so large at night I will be checking it out also. If I am able to get some pics, I will share.
Unless, those non-existant chemtrails get in the way.
