And image created by Rogelio Andreo - Deep Sky Colors and featured as the Astronomy Picture Of The Day

The image has over 57 hours of data from 3 months (40 hours of Luminance data and 17 hours of RGB).

Featured in the image are the California Nebula to the left, and the Pleiades Star Cluster to the right.

In the center is the Perseus Molecular Cloud.

The image covers 12 degrees of sky, with a inset of the moon as seen from Earth (covering 1/2 a degree) added to the picture to give a sense of scale.

Enjoy!

This is an amazing picture.

I absolutely adore images like these. For a brief moment when looking, nothing else matters.

Amazing image, and always makes me wish we could see it with the naked eye. The night sky isn't black at all!

Also seen in the image, is the big (but very dark) Taurus Molecular Cloud. www.astropix.com...
