The sun is hid,
Behind a veil,
From horizon to horizon,
And the winds begun to wail,
The temperature
Is dropping,
Beneath the overcast,
I stand before ye nature,
Do what you may with your arctic blast,

For I have waited,
Since last winter came and went,
To feel the touch,
Of a chill that won't relent,
To have the creep,
Of the deepest cold against my skin,
For the big freeze to come,
For the snow clouds to roll in,

So here I am,
Once again,
Braced before the cold,
Only so many left,
Before I get old,
Of the winters I love,
I await that loving embrace,
And the sensation,
Of frozen kisses,
On my numb and bloodless face.

Winter is my season. My birth sign means nothing to me, but I was born on an unusually snowy, bitterly cold morning in March. I dislike warm days, but flourish when everyone else is hiding in their dwelling places, trying to avoid the fist of winter. The icy grip, the rending talons of wind, these are dearest friends to me. When everyone else huddles by the fire, I can be found marching into the pounding, snow filled blizzards with a big grin smothered across my face.

This poem is an ode to the anticipation of the arrival of the most beloved of seasons (for me anyway!).

My first poem since my block wore off, and it did not turn out too bad!

Heh...old magic? I would like to think that if I knew any of that stuff, I would be healing the sick with one hand, and breaking deserving balls with the other, while scribing rhymes in solid marble with my brain alone!

However, I will settle for being able to enjoy the onset of winter, and express the pleasure it gives me! Thanks dude!

A warm star and flag
For when you come home
From those icy adventures
And snowy endeavours

People worry about ice ages... I wish no warmth, but I will absorb your appreciation if I may!
