Why should the middle-class even bother to work anymore?

Why should I waste my life in a cubicle for 8 hours a day, while my neighbors who are muti-generational welfare people, they are all physically able to work but they magically have plenty of food, newer cars and money to party all day.

why should I be under constant stress of trying to make ends meet between the mortgage and feeding the kids, and paying out to all the bills and taxes, I am half starved and literally left with less than 50$ a month for my own personal enjoyment.

I am really considering jumping ship and becoming one of the welfare folk, i mean i would love to spend all day at home with my family, not having to worry about anything the government will pay for my food, clothing, housing, entertainment, phone and internet, hell i can party 24-7.

i am just so aggravated.

You have 50 dollars of extra money every month?

Your not paying your fair share.

There are illegal immigrants starving...you need to pay more.

I have some really extended family like that in PA. Back when business was booming, I laughed at them. They were partying it up all day every day, popping pain pills, I was securing my future, or so I thought. Now sometimes I wonder....

Why not?

If you're a guy just find some woman that has like five kids, welfare and food stamps. Meal ticket right there buddy.

I am a woman but I always wondered the same. I moved out, started working when I was 18, of course never got pregnant(I date women however and never felt the need to conform to society by starting with guys so that probably helped with the last bit). Worked my butt off with 12 hour days and then both parents died of cancer within a year. Eventually lost my job because after their deaths FMLA doesn't apply toward post-death absences. Can't get food stamps and have one credit card charged off that is now preventing me from getting every job I've got an interview for. I was given job offers on every single job I interviewed for but apparently all the banking employers check credit and use that against you. Catch 22.

I say screw it. Why not? Isn't that what TPTB want?

Just Welfare it. Ride the wave until it crashes, which it will because the working class is being destroyed and punished. I feel you.

Don't worry, pretty soon there will be very few jobs that will pay middle class wages, so you can either choose to be working and living at the poverty level, or just say eff it all and wait for Uncle Sugar to assist you in your time of need.

However, if you don't have any kids in the home and are not elderly yet, you're basically screwed.

Where the hell is the Apocalypse when you need it??

Why should the middle-class even bother to work anymore? ...

Craninalbliss, I "jumped ship" a long time ago, but let me tell you how I did it.

I made a decision that I would not participate.

My wife and I live way below the poverty line. She works temp jobs, I am self employed.

We take NO government money. No foodstamps. No welfare. No Medicare/Medicaid. We pay our own way.

We have no debt. I refuse to sign my life away to a banker. They call it a "credit rating." Supposed to show how good you are a paying your debts. I call it a "slave rating." I say it shows what a good indentured servant you are. When people talk about my credit rating, I laugh at them.

I have no incentive to work my butt off and earn piles of money. If I do, they'll just take it from me and call it taxes. They'll use my hard earned money to pay for crack-babies and their crack-whore mamas, welfare cases, and bombs to kill people in foreign lands with whom I have no beef. I choose to not support that.

Note: This does not mean that I don't work. I work hard and things I like, and I work enough to take care of our own needs. Maybe everything I do does not earn cash, but it contributes to our livelihood.)

We choose to feed, as much as we can, on what we produce. We drive used vehicles. Most of what we use (clothes and such) is second hand. We don't have cable tv. I have a cell phone only because of my business.

I belong to a church that actively helps the poor, and I support their efforts.

If you met me in town, you would not say, "He's a poor man." You'd not know that I'm "poor."

Hell, I don't even know that I'm poor. I've lived overseas in third-world countries. When I was a kid, my deadbeat dad left us, many a night, without food in the house, and I went to bed hungry. I've seen poverty.

Hell with with the "poverty level." I'm not poor.

I am content.

I firmly believe that we (and people like us) are the system's worse nightmare.

The system wants you dependent. It wants you sucking off of the government tit, because then it will control you. Don't go down that road!

The "Merican Dream isn't dead You just have to go somewhere else to obtain it. Did You see where WalMart™ has the balls to put out a Food Drive for their own employees? The company made something like $15.7 BILLION and because they don't let their employees work 40 hrs (40 hrs. = insurance and insurance for employees cuts into profit) The Store Mgr.s throw out a FoodDrive for employees..

I'm looking at Uruguay for various reasons...

There is ZERO "incentive" and then folks getting comfy lounging on other folk's sweat.. If/When this ACA/ObamaCare ever kicks in wait until the division then... You got cancer? I'm not paying for that. You're 60lbs. overweight? Mix in a salad (then the salad has GMOs that makes the person even sicker!!!)

LOL! The husband and I joke that since we had our kids so late we will be old and still have dependant children all at the same time. Whats not funny is that 80 is the new 65... dammit.

We have been sold a BS idea .There is no blissful retirement, life is NOT fair, the soap operas lied, there is no prince(ess) or kingdom, and we are never going to attain all of this crap we have been convinced that we need. Ive come to the realization that I am an idiot for ever buying into any of it, but at least I woke up a little. Im only half asleep now. Struggle is life. When we are not struggling and fighting we arent really LIVING. When things are gravy, we get restless and get into mischief. Too much gravy time on other folks' dime for too many folks these days IMO. It seems someone(s) dont want us to really live and feed us a bunch of BS from birth so we are programmed to believe a complete fabrication of what having a life and living it really is.

Life is essentially a cheat and its conditions are those of defeat; the redeeming things are not happiness and pleasure but the deeper satisfactions that come out of struggle.

Dont believe the hype, seriously.

I went down that route a couple years ago, and it wasnt the party I was lead to believe it was.
I went without any money for three months, and when I did finally get some money(which wasnt near enough), I was going for 4 days every two weeks without any food. I was evicted from my home and Im still homeless.
Without my sister, I would be on the streets.
I found a job and bought a car and Ive been saving for a months rent and a deposit ever since.

Keep working, keep paying your bills, because if you have proven you can do it already, the state is in no rush to help you.

Having 24/7 to think about how crap life has become is no party, believe me, Im not making this up.
Im gradually getting out of my hole, please dont dig one for yourself.

WOW imagine calling yourself middle class, do you know that people who class themselves as middle class have two mental illnesses at once " delusions of grandeur " because you see yourselves better than the working classes.

And "inferiority complex" because you see yourselves below the upper class.

That's some serious # going on in your head.

What if I tell you that we are all the same, and that its all in your head that you are a better class of person than another.

We all go to the toilet the same and we all pee the same we all eat the same we all suffer the same.

Class is just another way of dividing the people.

You may see yourself as middle class because you are a teacher or or a lawyer.

Im working class and a bricklayer and I build houses, you people would live in caves if it was not for the likes of me, and what class would that make you then, lower than my dog who lives in a better kennel than a cave.

The people you attack may not have had the same chances as you in life and may have worked in low paid jobs and used every penny just to eat and heat, and lost their job so need welfare.

The world is not a fair playing ground we all don't get the same chances, people that attack other people the deem lower than them HAVE NO CLASS.

Because there will come a time that the government ship will go down faster than a cruise line for weight watchers.

Being hard working and self-sufficient will keep you ahead of the game in the long run.

The welfare laws have to change. Too many people look at welfare as a way of life. Especially children who have grown up knowing nothing else but living on welfare. Laws need to be established that require people on welfare to work for their monthly checks. We have enough parks, public schools and municipal buildings, street litter and dumping grounds that need to be cleaned and painted. Public bathrooms need to be scrubbed and streets need to be repaired. Maybe if they were required to work hard for the state or the municipality in which they reside, they would get off welfare and find work that was less physical. Maybe if they would stop allowing families on food stamps to purchase pop and junk food they would have less money to purchase 200 dollar cell phones and 100 dollar athletic shoes.

Maybe families should be informed there are no increase in welfare benefits if they have another child while they're on welfare. They should also be levied an amount towards school taxes, instead of having other taxpayers foot the bill for their children that keep on multiplying.

I just can't believe we don't have representatives that have the guts to change the current welfare system.

Perhaps if they pay a living wage then people would not need food stamps, you can't have a society where one person earns more than he his children and grandchildren could spend in their lifetime and pay another who is not paid enough to feed themselves and kids and heat the house.

Stop the welfare and state you owe them nothing' and watch the fall out.

Welfare is not a safety net for the poor, its a safety net for the rich.

The difference between the rich and the poor is 90% are poor and 10% are rich, I know what side I would want to be on.

So stop the welfare and make them crawl, but remember you can only kick a dog so much before it turns round and bites you.

And if you think you are better than them. then when they stop welfare they will come for what you have and don't expect the police to help because they will be protecting the wealthy, an elected people.

In the UK they don't even send police now if your house is broken into, so what chance will there be when there are thousands happening in an area at once.

Look at the number of police and then look at the number of poor and hungry people when food stamps and welfare stop.

Be careful what you wish for unless you are one of the decision makers that will be protected in their Ivory towers while all the rest on the ground try to survive.

Stop welfare and I can Guarantee that most Americans will never have another night of peaceful sleep.

Count how many people are in your area and then count how many need food stamps and welfare, then count the number of police to protect you .

Then tell me you still want welfare stopped.

Why are you complaining about the people on welfare when the Pentagon sucks up thousands of times more money?

When did 'to provide for the common defense' come to mean hundreds of military bases all over the world, and new weapons systems being funded continually, and tens of thousands of nuclear weapons?

What if 'to provide for the common defense' meant everyone gets a genuine good education, and everyone gets enough food, adequate shelter, medical care for free? We could do that if we weren't paying for the Pentagon and the CIA and the FBI and NSA and DHS and whackjob cops to check to see what we're hiding in our skivvies.

What if the American Dream wasn't a nightmare, wasn't a ridiculously huge house down the street from homeless people, and idiotic fast cars when you never really go faster than a bicycle anyways, and an endless supply of crass commercialism touted everywhere you look, brainwashing everyone into thinking they 'need' this, that or the other thing, to fill in the chinks in their empty brains and lives and Dancing with the Stars reruns?

What if religion didn't lie to people, all the while making them feel superior, and 'thou shalt not kill' was actually a good idea, no matter who the boogie man of the month was?

What if we minded our own business, watered the tree of liberty with the blood of our OWN tyrants once in a while, and used that Second Amendment everyone is always crowing about for something good for a change?

Well, right now there are about 130 MILLION people living on some sort of government assistance. Things like welfare, food stamps, social security, etc.

That's over 1/3 of the population. Just imagine how many people are barely keeping their heads above water without that. I guess both the OP and me would fit into that category.

I do get angry when people abuse the system and serve as leeches for this country. And sit there pumping out 5, 6, maybe even 7 kids just so Uncle Sam can throw money at them.

But like a previous poster said. They probably won't be sitting doped up and happy for to long. Sooner or later our government is going to have to stop giving out money to these people. As you know our financial situation here in the U.S. is horrible. We've been losing loads of our industry. And the jobs are going along with it. If the system collapses, being someone who heavily relies on the government will be in some serious trouble.
