True enough.

The hobo stove does direct the heat from a handful of sticks burning to the base of a pan or cup more effectively. It keeps the amount of smoke generated to a minimum in a SHTF situation.

I want to try this but I have no beer can =\

I don't drink. I also have no soda cans.

See a bunch of don't, but no do's. Break free of what binds you and overcome!

The Hobo Stove idea was that of necessity, not convenience. The alcohol stove is one of convenience IMO.

I use a small alcohol stove for my crusader brew kit. Have done for 3 years now.

I made it myself using various ideas gained from the "tube" out of Redbull cans.

It has a very low profile (less than 1"). Holds enough fuel to boil 500ml of water. Takes far less time than the hexi/trioxane blocks that are usually used and it doesn't foul up the bottom of my metal mug either

They work just as well as the Trangia brass stoves and Tatonka stainless versions too (having used both)

Also i just made another one for my Esbit coffee maker too!

I do however put Perlite in mine to stop the fuel from evaporating too quickly. this seems to help to increase burn time and stops the stove going mental
and flaring up.
