I'm starting this thread because I found this interesting website while working on a thread about Typhoon Haiyan - That thread can be found Typhoon Haiyan's impact revealed in before-and-after satellite images

DigitalGlobe FirstLook

As per their website pdf:

Effective emergency planning and response requires quick and easy access to accurate, up-to-date information. DigitalGlobe’s FirstLook is an online subscription service for emergency management that provides fast web-based access to pre- and post-event imagery of world disasters delivered to almost any desktop or web-based mapping platform. High-resolution satellite imagery provides the essential information required for emergency planning, risk assessment, monitoring of staging areas and emergency response, damage assessment, and recovery.

Anyway, I thought this was interesting so I figured I'd add it to the site- as I've never seen something like this before.. much less open to the public to help out... or so soon after a disaster (Haiyan officially dissipated 11/11/13).

I don't know how much of a help it would be but there's got to be some benefit to it, right? I mean leaders and organizations will be able to figure out which areas need help, etc?

I'd love opinions, which I know you're all good for
