When did I say any of that?

Hard times are bad, but not the fault, nor the burden of everyone else.

I don't work so that others may live off my rewards.

So your answer to helping out people with pre-existing conditions is to make perfectly healthy people starve or go without shelter because they now have to buy something that they couldn't afford? Isn't that just displacing the hardship? Not to mention you just stated you don't care about these people who can't afford to buy mandatory health insurance, you only care about the people who weren't covered pre-ACA. You even make it sound like some simple budget problem like if these people would just skimp back on a few things $200 - $300 monthly insurance payments suddenly become more affordable. But you fail to realize that we are still in a very real Recession (despite all the claims by Obama to the contrary, we are most definitely in a Recession), the middle class has already skimped back on many things to be able to afford things. And even if these people could magically find an extra few hundred dollars in their budget, they STILL won't be able to use the insurance since the deductibles are thousands of dollars. But all is fine, because these people who couldn't get health insurance can buy it now... What a crock

What are the reasons for the life spans?

Healthcare and diet normally.

But even if it was just diet then your infant mortality rate would not be so low on the rankings. At least not so low for the developed world anyway.

Really?

So you are saying that employees at a company paid different amounts of money based on if they were male or female??? I can guarantee you that they didn't.

Nope... you are right on that... the employer sponsored plans had the same rates for males and females... mainly because the employer had to pay a minimum of %50 of the plans premium for each employee or if the plan included families they paid for %50 or more of the families premiums... that is how the insurance companies make up the difference and there was no pre existing condition clauses with the majority of employer sponsored plans. Thats the benefit of an employer sponsored plan.. as I mentioned to you in another thread.

And I know that private policies didn't matter either...except for maternity care...you have always had to pay extra for that with private policies...which I think is absolute crap.

The private policies are where the rates were different based on general health, age and gender as the majority of the people had private insurance plans... it was different and most policies that were not "catastrophic" or "major medical polices" included maternity care. Even the basic plans included a limited number of covered wellness exams not subject to a deductible and in many cases no co pay.

But if what you say is true, then that is even more reason to support the ACA because it should have never been that way.

Really? families shouldnt have had a choice in what kind of policies they wanted based on their needs and their income? Like socialism much? Peel your lips from Obama's ass, its not like you will get anywhere with him... he throws all of his friends under the bus sooner or later.

Tough...deal with it...we are all in this together.

Uhh... True... for now... but more and more Americans are seeing this scam for what it is... a tax and nothing more.. and even laws can be and are repealed. This debacle with go away in its current form, who knows what the future will bring.

The only way insurance works is for the many to all pitch in a little to pay for the few that need a lot of money for their services. Doesn't matter if they are male or female, kids or adults, white or black....the many help pay for the few.

No.. the way for insurance to work it to keep government out of it... let the people who buy it decide what they want and what they can afford. The premium models in my state worked, while I think that people who had/ have preexisting conditions should be able to get an affordable policy and there should have been reform there and only there. More people are now on medicaid the majority of those who have signed up thus far are signing up for medicaid.... which most of them could have done before ACA... there a ton of non-profit and charitable organizations who pay for peoples medical bills if they cant afford them... and the majority of Hospitals cant turn away people in need of medical care.

The ACA is a genius sham destined for failure. Lower the requirements for employers full time quota, employers cut hours or cut jobs, people make much less money or are unemployed.... hello new poor people welcome to medicaid!! Oh lets not forget to stick it to everyone else and double the majority of their insurance premiums... and triple or quadruple their deductibles and call it affordable. Hell we will make it like the olympics and even put metal tiers on our qualified health plans.... hey who wants a bronze medal? It's only $900 a month for a family of four and pays 60%/40% and has a $9000 individual or a $24000 family deductible.... sound great? Okay lets do it.... I mean hey cant you feel the affordability of us not paying anything until you have forked over $9000 before we cover anything and then when your deductible is met you will only have to pay 40% of you medical bills.... I know .. I know... you had a private plan that was much better and half the price with a $1200 deductible... but it didnt cover mammograms for little johnny... so cant you see the benefit? Here...take this bottle of lube and bend over... I will show you how affordable it is... but you cant afford the reach around so dont ask.

Of course insurance companies used to try to exclude coverage for something or require people to pay extra for certain coverage...and that was part of the problem...and I'm glad those days are over.

Yep... they did... they gave the consumer the choice whether or not they wanted specific coverages... had horrible for them to give people choices..... that wasnt part of the problem.... if you want prescription drug coverage you have to pay extra... if you want dental or vision coverage you have to pay extra.... ummmm you still do... those days aren't over they are still here. If you want dental you pay more... if you want vision... you pay more... ACA covers some things... but a lot of stuff still isnt covered.... do some research and you may catch on..

Your single payer idea.. in my opinion is exactly what the government wants... but it wont work in the US... not right now... maybe never. It may work in other countries but it took them time to figure it out. As Americans we want our services now... not 3 months from now. And I for one wouldnt trust our government not to rape me for my single payer rates... I think Canadians pay about 2% of their income for their healthcare... I would assume our government would charge us upwards of 12-20% and smile at us and call it affordable.

I hope you are not actually a politician because the way you post is not making a lot of people happy, you know is sad that perhaps you have a wonderful well pay job, that give you the chance to cover your budget needs and have enough for later on and to save.

But no everybody here have the good fortune to have a job, a savings account and a 401K, no even me and my husband have that luxury when he lost his job last year and was unemployed for 5 months, we survive at the expenses of our savings.

You can lose everything you have in blink of an eye, but it seems that the morons in the government believe that economics are like a one size fit all, after all they live in Richistan America where they never have to think about what they can spend their money on, food or insurance premiums.

Lucky you.

Sometimes it sounds like it, smell like it and looks like it, but it could be something else that we get here in ATS once in a while, the fanatical take on certain issues made them shine over anybody else.

I will say no more.

I stated previously that 85% of Americans were happy with their health care coverage before Obamacare. I was challenged to post proof of that. Here is the information - the number was 80% .. not 85%

Gallup Poll from 2009

Americans are broadly satisfied with the quality of their own medical care and healthcare costs, but of the two, satisfaction with costs lags. Overall, 80% are satisfied with the quality of medical care available to them, including 39% who are very satisfied. Sixty-one percent are satisfied with the cost of their medical care, including 20% who are very satisfied.

I stated previously that Obamacare was the largest tax hike in US History. I was told that was a 'Fox News' lie. Well ... it's not. SCOTUS declared Obamacare to be a TAX. That makes it the largest tax hike in US History. So once again, what I stated was correct.

The New American - Supreme Court Declares Obamacare is a Tax

Simply put, Congress may tax and spend.” With those historic words, the Supreme Court forced upon the United States a bleak dawn of a brave new world in which the federal government cannot be checked in its march toward totalitarianism.

In a 5-4 decision the Supreme Court upheld the joint venture of the President and Congress to force every American, regardless of ability or desire, to purchase a qualifying health care insurance plan by 2014 or face a tax penalty for failure to comply.

Today’s ruling demonstrates a bizarre interpretation of the Constitution wherein the majority of the justices held that while the Constitution does not grant Congress the power to compel the purchase of a commodity, it does have the power to tax anyone who doesn’t make such a purchase.

And obviously the SCOTUS got it wrong. However, I was correct when I stated Obamacare was a tax hike and that means Obama broke his campaign promise not to raise any taxes.

I also stated that Obamacare is causing/will cause tens of millions of Americans to lose the health care/health insurance that they have and that they are happy with. Once again ... I was correct -

Estimate - 52 Million Americans will lose their Health Insurance
Millions of Americans are Losing their Health Insurance Plans Because of Obamacare

Tens of millions losing their plans and being forced to purchase plans that aren't nearly as good and that cost three times as much. So again .... what I stated was correct.

I posted this information in response to a previous challenge to do so. Most people on this thread already knew this information and accepted the truth of it. So I hope you folks don't think I"m preaching at you. This info was intended to 'answer the challenge' from a few pages back.

Thank you FlyersFan for doing the research. I for one didn't need to see that data to know you were right! Too bad some people are so stuck in their narrow minds that they are blind to the truth. I am a licensed health insurance agent in Oregon... and I think this whole ACA or Obamacare is complete bul$sh%t. While I may be able to make a lot of money off of people who are forced to sign up.. I haven't sold out and tell people my honest opinion on things.. if they still want insurance then they can have it... being American is about freedom and about choices and the ACA has stripped us of those when it comes to healthcare, I will be damned it someone tells me how to take care of my family and mandates how they receive their healthcare.... I only want the best for them and to see them get the same when they have their own families.. and this is not it.

Think and respond what you want.
I will not rely on Govt.
So, you want me to rely on a Govt that has goes 24 months to approve claims for veterans?
Or the same Govt that spent millions upon millions to spin up a website that doesn't even work?

Nope. Not going to happen.

Besides, we have the law that states a hospital can't refuse service. So.......I think we are covered.

Plus, I have planned for such things financially, family wise, church and friends.

I, unlike you, don't "need" the Govt in this realm.

I already posted a source but just google it

Sorry butthe usa just isnt number 1 in this case.

Btw i never said you had to reley on goverment for good healthcare, last time i checked the countrys that hold the number 1 and 2 spot hongkong and singapore have privatley run healthcare. Its just illegal for the hospitals to withhold lifesaveing treatment. Plus there profits are closely moniterd to stop huge and uneeded costs.

Sorry but theres a better way than your old system and ACA.

Well, I'm not going to go back how many pages for the source.

I may google it, if time allows.

As for another way. Hell, show me a better way, and I will adapt it.

So far, I haven't seen anything that doesn't give Govt more control.

The past is the best gauge of what has worked.

Before the Govt intervined, it worked.
Now since the Govt has got its grubby little hands in it, it is jacked up. And getting more jacked up as we go.

Logical deduction shows that once Govt gets involved, it is downhill from there. It is the bad part of amost every equation.

Yes you are right, first we have the biggest thief of personal wealth specially when it comes to the productive class, the government, then we have the corporate interest also.

But government is the one that can make promises of free rides to those that are in need and poor at the expenses of those that works and earn a living.

Yes I already have Singapore and hongkong who are ranked as the 1st and 2nd best places for healthcare anywere in the world. So whta thet are doing WORKS.

macman

So far, I haven't seen anything that doesn't give Govt more control.

I admitt the hospitals are a mix of private and public but its done moderatly. And fact is it works.
Give me a example of a system were only complete non goverment control works (and by works is in the top 10)? You cant.
If there are not some sort of regulations, idiots at the top get greedy and healthcare costs spiral needlesly out of control like the USA. some BALANCE is needed.

macman
The past is the best gauge of what has worked.

Before the Govt intervined, it worked.

See more BS! Not it didnt, it was one of the work systems in the western world!

macman
Now since the Govt has got its grubby little hands in it, it is jacked up. And getting more jacked up as we go.

I agree now its worse, but doing it the old way grubby little buisness men got there hands on your healthcare instead and jacked prices up beyond what was needed! Sorry you need to limit those gruppy buisness men as well as that goverment.

macman

Logical deduction shows that once Govt gets involved, it is downhill from there. It is the bad part of amost every equation.

Excpet in Singapore, Hongkong, Australia, Germany, Norway, Japan, South Korea ect ect ect who are all way way way ahead in providing healthcare.

Your talking out your arse on this one mate.

Anyway I have shown you

macman
a better way, and I will adapt it.

Hongkong and singapore who are at the top for best healthcare in the world. If they are at the top it works and therefore is a better way. O and they also have some of the lowest taxes in the world

You will not find anyone who'd like to see this turd go down more than me but it's not going to happen. They'll do whatever it takes to save this steaming pile. These "problems" really are just glitches, unfortunately. They can be fixed.

The biggest mistake that has been made by opponents of Obamacare was in insisting that this was wrong with it or that wouldn't work or that the whole thing would be a massive "failure".

None of that should matter because that's not where the real problem is. The real problem is the individual mandate. This is the elephant in the room. All this other stuff is just distraction.

There's not a snowball's chance in hell these dirtbags are going to give up. This law isn't going anywhere and that mandate will keep coming back to haunt freedom/choice loving people for as long as any of us live.
