The lawsuit names some 35 defendants as actors in the alleged conspiracy to violate Ramirez Peyro’s constitutional rights. They include past and present employees of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the US Marshals Service and various county sheriffs in Texas and Minnesota.

In addition, the litigation accuses some of the most powerful US prosecutors in Texas of being party to the alleged conspiracy.
Ramirez Peyro, in his pleadings, claims those US prosecutors, with the assistance of the other defendants, as part of a “meeting of the minds,” conspired to imprison him for nearly six years in furtherance of a cover-up designed to conceal their complicity in the House of Death murders.

Gonzalez, incensed by the House of Death murders and the near assasination of a fellow DEA agent and his family, wrote a letter to his counterpart at US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, denouncing the informant’s activities and the complicity of federal agents and prosecutors in the bloodshed. The informant, Guillermo Ramirez Peyro (aka, Lalo) was under the supervision of ICE as well as the US Attorney’s Office for Western Texas — then headed by Johnny Sutton — while Comey was deputy attorney general and Sutton’s boss.

A CBS news report of a rancher in Northern California who has had to hire armed guards and cannot walk or ride his property without fear of being shot or stabbed.

Most of the major cities in the USA have reps from the cartels. News reports when doing an article on violence usually just say "Gang violence" and let it go. However IMO, the root of the problem in many cases are the low level distributors going about their normal turf war or making examples of those who do not play their game the way they want them to.

Poverty and the economy has been an open door to the Cartels not to mention the money and corruption the drug trade represents on both sides of the border.

One of the problems as I see it: The grunts or front line guys do not know what the big boys are doing. Big boys as in CIA.. DEA is the only entity that by their charter is allowed to import drugs into the country as part of a sting operation. Yet there are many stories from the 80s where CIA involvement is documented; which is now classified for national security reasons. The whole farce needs a good house cleaning. It would seem that those who institute prohibition policies would be mindful of that. Those policies not only outright start people on a career path in the underworld it corrupts law makers, law enforcers, and anyone that can influence the reach of those laws and how they are applied. It also becomes a tool of government used to diminish people's rights and privacies under the guise of misplaced altruism claiming to be doing it for the benefit of society and its individuals. Instead, it robs us of self-ownership and creates a multitude of problems at all levels.

Prohibition has never worked outside of being a lucrative form of self-serving enrichment and corruption as well as initiating, enabling, and empowering a criminal class and element. Ultimately, it is always destructive and at counter-purpose to its stated aims and objectives.

This is too in line with the propaganda they would have you believe. By trade, merchants are businessman, it is not until government or outside sources try to control or get a cut of the earnings that bloodshed happens.

You blame the "cartels" but if it's the regulations and restrictions that allow all these things to exist. If you don't believe me, look who invented and marketed heroin, and stimulants. They are all legitimate companies which some still exist today (Bayer especially.)

It wasn't until government stepped in and said only Bayer is allowed to sell heroin and no one else (which drug companies still do) that there became an issue. Whether or not business will spiral out of control, government (voice of the people) is supposed to be voice of reason, instead of limiting personal powers (the right of an individual) they should have only restricted business, and themselves (government). Since governments across the world are still involved in the trade. (Afghanistan, India, Burma) Mexico, China, Thailand, USA - unofficially on the last ones [corruption]).
