well.. I hate to say it but the news talks about lots of things. They like news they can talk about over and over and get the worlds attention. Yes ISON could be one of these things, but it could also disintegrate on it's trip to or around the sun and be a great big fizzle.

They will report about it when there is potential for it to be viewed by the average individual.

It's quite clear, Tallone, that your personal beliefs are driving your claims and nothing anyone says is going to sway you. This is bad practice and completely counter-intuitive, stubborn behaviour. There is nothing wrong with either supporting or coming up up with new theories about anything! However, anything new has to be provable and testable to be taken seriously.

Does EU theory account for the as much of the phenomenon that currently occurs under present theories? Is it testable by other experts? Can these theories be proven over and over? Where is the demonstrated evidence? Has anything you claim will happen to ISON ever been observed before? When nothing happens, will you admit the theory is flawed?

I embrace new thinking and I encourage the challenging of current theories or methods. It what drives science forward BUT it has to make sense. It has to shown to be consistent when others test it. It has to stand up to the rigours of peer review. EU theory does not, at this time and is unlikely to. One of the key things that is always prevalent in this kind of topic is a fundemental lack of understanding on the subject that is being challenged. You can't challenge a proven and testable theory if you don't fully understand it's every inner workings.

So far, the evidence provided in this thread has, for the most part, been shown to be inaccurate, incorrect or flat out rubbish. Rather than acknowledge this and go back and try and strengthen your evidence you simply ignore it and carry on. Usually simply telling us we're just 'wrong'. Poor show.

Sometimes, one has to follow the gut, and clearly all the people saying that nothing unnatural or cool is going on with this particular event, is ALSO in the category, of not being swayed.

Give anyone a good reason to trust space agencies that are known to lie more than most governments even attempt to?

That feign ignorance, and use faulty theories to explain everything when stone age cultures clearly knew what was going on.

I and many others have grown incredibly tired of the bored, tired responses that someone nice or good is in control of information, and that proper science is ever used.

I would think a 5 year old could give a better analysis of many of these rocks in space than we get, and yet you want people to be quiet ??

And not wonder why Nasa has purposefully done everything they can to not show this on a much grander scale ??

Just because you think this doesn't make it so. Show me proof the space agencies constantly lie to the public?

Stone age cultures knew more than modern science? You're joking, right? Please show me how this is so. Show me the evidence where a stone age culture knew more about anything compared to today.

I don't wish people to be quiet. I do expect people to back up what they are claiming, however. You are proving my comment that someone stuck in their own belief refuses to entertain criticism against it or accept part or all of what they say is wrong. Your mind is already made up on what you think is true.

Show what on a grander scale?! There is nothing to show. Comets are of interest to astronomers and small pockets of people interested in space etc. As much as it pains me to say it, the general public really could not care less about comets. They have far too much to worry about on a daily basis such as, you know, trying to pay the bills, feed the kids, keep their jobs.....

If this is a electromagnetic comet, why has it not been seen before in any of the others comets that gave came by?

The Electric Comet applies to all comets. Comets are electric, so the theory goes. Comet ISON as far back as June this year exhibited many characteristics expected by Electric Universe theory enthusiasts. This is from an article dated back then.

Many other comets have exhibited these expected features. See the rest of the article for a run through. If a comet is not included it doesn't mean it is not electric. It is a general theory of comets, applying to the all.

Re the 'cover up' note the last underlined section.

Comet ISON is already demonstrating the electrical characteristics that are familiar to Electric Universe proponents: multiple tails, bright jets, and the presence of carbon in large quantities. According to astronomers, the comet has “not yet” shown any indication of water vapor. The so-called “venting” of water vapor should take place as the comet gets closer to the Sun, as theory suggests.

Many articles have been written about the misrepresentations and misinterpretations from NASA scientists when it comes to comets. In fact, a major issue of fair use policy and public access to information gathered by publicly funded institutions is now being debated by Electric Universe advocates and some members of those institutions related to comets.

Personal belief - as with any researcher. You need a belief in something you want to investigate. Otherwise where do you start? My claims are driven by evidence. Whether you accept the evidence and argument I present is completely up to you.

This is bad practice and completely counter-intuitive, stubborn behaviour.

Hahaha. No it is not. Peer reviewed journals are forums for a public debate by scientists who hold strong often opposing positions. A platform such as ATS is a peer review of another kind, that is all.

There is nothing wrong with either supporting or coming up up with new theories about anything!

Something I do, stubbornly apparently.

However, anything new has to be provable and testable to be taken seriously.

With a theory, that is very true.

Does EU theory account for the as much of the phenomenon that currently occurs under present theories?

Yes, most definitely.

Is it testable by other experts?

Yes, it has been and it has passed the test. Not that you would know this via MSM. That is why the potential for ISON to show its colors so to speak to the entire world that wishes to look is greatly anticipated by both supporters and detractors of the theory (although the last group are not running around shouting that out loud).

Can these theories be proven over and over?

Now this is exactly why I was hoping the grumbling racoon to take up my challenge.

Wildespace!

Where is the demonstrated evidence?

Watch the embedded video in the first part of my OP - particularly the summary in the last 20 minutes. Also go to the linked URL I have just posted.

'Has anything you claim will happen to ISON ever been observed before?'

Characteristic features of electric comets has definitely been exhibited before, in fact the theory goes a long way toward filling in the holes in conventional comet theory and demolishes the accepted view of comets as 'dirty ice balls' venting dust and water vapor.

When nothing happens, will you admit the theory is flawed?

I would be disappointed should many of the harmless-to-us-on-Earth characteristics of ECs not be demonstrated by ISON, yes. But the theory is not disproven automatically because it has already been accepted by many scientists already to some degree or other. The problem in shifting from the conventional theory to the EC theory is really one of the political kind rather than scientific. The EC theory is a very elegant and complete explanation of comets and comet behavior, far more so than what is being taught currently in universities.

No they won't. Can't you see the giant warning sign.

Excellent video embedded below discusses what happened with that interaction between ISON and Mars. Images of the coma around Mars - Mars went comet.

As the David Stig Hansen shows images by amateur astronomers of the coma forming around Mars, and notes that with the US government shutdown in progress at that time not one single image of this was recorded by an international space agency satellite. THEY DID NOT WANT YOU TO SEE THAT boys and girls. No reason we should be allowed to draw the necessary connections in our own heads - - - move on nothing to see here. There were only 3 images from the rover. But one of those images proves very interesting!

A lot of coronal mass ejections have been coming off the sun in the direction of the comet back into October. A large plasma current was seen to break away from the sun October 26 on LASCO C2 with 5 hours of the images missing. "Timestamp. Where are the missing 5 hours?" asks Hansen. Hansen discusses spectacular clouds, auroras, possible areas of Internet going down and other relevant details, events already underway now. The video is well worth a watch.

Since comets flyby all the time, why do you act like his "eelectrical" stuff is something to worry about?

Consider the following: Events on Earth, such as severe weather are not only caused by the activities of humankind, they are also the result of events coming at us from space. Some of these events are able to bring down a country’s entire power grid, and perhaps on a global scale. The Carrington Event of 1859 where CMEs destroyed much of the telegraph system in place at the time. A series of CMEs of that kind can happen again, but this time the affect would be catastrophic given our dependence on technology in pretty much all aspects of our life. ISON is by far the biggest comet to come our way in more than a thousand years. There is also possibility of direct hits on the Earth’s surface from meteorites like the one exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February this year, blasting out windows across a large area, and hitting the ground in fragments. Comets can also hit us just as Shoemakjer-Levy-p hit Jupiter in 1994. While that giant planet has our back mopping up a multitude of ‘loose’ space objects that otherwise would be far more likely to hit us if it did not have such a very large mass, keep in mind that severe impacts from space objects do happen to Earth – the most predominant theory for the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Way to set the mood with doomy unrelated events. Fearmongering much?

If Comet ISON is the big fella several observers conclude it is based on an analysis of the evidence so far then it will likely bring about changes to our planet that may affect us severely, and perhaps we are already experiencing a taste of these.

Is hysteria one of them?

Why are we getting next to NO NEWS about Comet ISON?

As pointed out, there is a lot of info out there, the mainstream just doesn't care and the public doesn't either.

Not everyone shares the obsession you know.

Enjoy your non event.

Triangle allignment?

Jeez, one can draw triangles between loads of heavenly bodies, it doesnt prove a thing except for being a square.

The guy in the vid keeps yappin about CME's and how they are supposedly related to ISON but does he know that CME's are very normal and happen from three times a day to once in 5 days?

Near solar maxima, the Sun produces about three CMEs every day, whereas near solar minima, there is about one CME every five days.

en.wikipedia.org...

They happen all the time without ISON so.....where is the connection?

This guy is just speculating and making up random stuff. Just like you.

About the "Mars coma", is there any other evidence except for one amateur astronomers blurry Canon camera pic?

Okay, Tallone... since you are a self proclaimed expert on comets, please explain why highly magnetic comets like ISON show no evidence of the Zeeman effect in their emission spectra. (This is how the scientifically literate know that EU is mumbo jumbo.)

I have no idea why you're referencing a post I made about how we find an object's size, mass and density through observation here on Earth with the space probe Deep Impact.

One has nothing to do with the other.

Now, that said, having a probe near an object does help. It can take amazingly detailed images because it's close to it. It can give us an exact number for it's mass (because of how the probe behaves in motion near that object's gravity field).

However, my post you are linking to was in response to someone claiming that there is NO way we can find the size of something out in space.

I never said that DI never took any images of ISON. I know it did. It took the best image that it could from the distance it was at, with the equipment it has, and the result was: something that shows no detail and is not surprising given the distance from ISON, ISON's size, and the fact the imaging equipment was designed for imaging object from up close.

Nor did I claim that EVERYONE here on ATS does not understand the size of space. Nor did I claim that ONLY I understand it's size.

I said that it seems that a LOT of members on here do not seem to comprehend the size of space, orbital mechanics, or how optical resolutions work. This based on the amount of posts (not only about C/2012 S1, but many other topics too) that I read on here every since I became a member, and well before that when I was just a lurker reading.

Don't get me wrong I thought the whole thing was as funny as the next guy, I just didn't expect people to be making exactly the same mistakes a few years later with another comet.

Never mind, we'll just see what happens on December 21st - or are we not doing that one again this year?

Hey Variable, - anyone can 'chime in' anytime they like. This is a debate. But it aint an interrogation. There is a difference. I am not surprised at all that people refute it. Good on them for taking a position. At the time people refuted the claims by UN weapons inspectors that Saddam did not have WMDs, people refuted claims by independent experts there had been at least one meltdown at Fukushima. People refute my claims that evidence shows it was a western financed rebel group that used chemical weapons in Syria more than once. It's okay to be a voice of dissent, right?

How long are you going to keep up this charade?

Now you have asked multiple times to address the posts with links that show there is no cover up and you go on about WMD in Iraq and Fukushima,

EDIT Now that's enough with the side tracking of this thread. Let's get back to the discussion of ISON and the cover up by MSM and governments, whether you disagree or agree with my position. I am interested and reply from now on only about that topic - the topic of the thread.

So reply to these

and this one

eriktheawful was right. The Deep Impact craft is nowhere near comet ISON, and you dont understand how large space is. If you take the time to look at what they captured from that large distance, the comet is only about 5 pixels across.

It is not my fault that you have comprehension problems. Where would it be today, we'll from September 20th when it mysteriously shut down, had they sent it towards ISON? I am not talking about last Febuary, so think instead of assuming while on your high horse that you know what you're talking about because you obviously are confused. ~$heopleNation

I understand all of that like I tried to explain to you before in that other thread. My opinion is that they have had plenty of time to send a probe up close to supposedly what could be the most amazing recent Comet, bright as the moon or whatever. Such beautiful close up images of others. Anyway, The Sun might end up ruining the show when it's all said and done. ~$heopleNation

Not only have they had less than a year to build and send a probe but they are knowingly under-funded. You think they just grab a probe out of the cupboard and toss it up for free?

And why should they have any interest in studying this particular comet? It is only the conspiracists that are claiming it needs investigating and has 'magic' properties....

"...sent it towards ISON" ???!?!?

Its not my fault you dont understand space.
The Deep Impact spacecvraft isnt a sportcar that you can just turn around and send to any part of the solar system that you want.

See the red dotted line.

The spacecraft is is free orbit around the sun, and its not going anywhere else. Any suggestions you have of "lets turns this thing around and go look at that other interesting object way over there" is absurd.

No object in the solar system is at rest. If it tries to be at rest, it will be pulled towards the sun by it's gravity. DI is in orbit around the sun, at a certain velocity to maintain that distance.

In order to get it (or any other space craft) moving to try and intercept something, energy must be imparted to that craft to increase it's velocity so that it may move further away from the sun.

Unfortunately due to the Sun's gravity, it will not be in a straight line over large distances, because doing so would take a very large amount of energy to accelerate away from the sun like that. Something that DI doesn't have. It has a limited amount of fuel to burn, and that limits what path it can take, and how long it will take to get where it is going.

Deep Impact has been abandoned by NASA due to loss of communications with the craft. They can't communicate with it anymore because it's computers are in a constant "reboot" mode (Windows XP users should be familiar with this).

Before this loss of comms, it was already on a extended mission involving other comets. You do not just stop a mission with your craft and decide to change it's goals, direction and movement on a whim.

Sending up another probe would have been a great idea. Except who is going to pay for that? If it's NASA, then you'd better pick something else that they have running right now and shut it down, or tell them that something else they have money allotted to make happen, won't be happening, because you are taking that money to make them build a probe to go visit another comet.

We spend over 800 BILLION dollars on a military.
NASA get's about 17 billion to not only keep what missions they do have active, but for anything new too.

You have to convince NASA that C/2012 S1 is so special, that it deserves them abandoning other projects and spending money on it.

Or convince the US government to stop spending so much money on the military, themselves and entitlement programs, and give NASA a lot more money. I'm sure they (NASA) would be happy to build as many probes as they can to send to every comet, asteroid, moon and planet if they could.

But their wallet says they don't.

I don't dispute that some people are interested in ISON. I dispute there is anything hugely significant about it other than what the conspiracists/EU supporters are saying about it.
