Egypt turns to Russia as relations with Washington sour.. Not a surprise !

It would appear things have gone from bad to worse with America's relationship with Egypt. The below link talks about Russian foreign ministers traveling to Egypt to re-establish relations ..hint hint arm sales. The article speaks of the glorious days of Nasser who wanted to unite all the Arabs into one people and one land.

In October 2012, WND reported a separate foundation, the Mama Sarah Obama Foundation, created on behalf of Obama’s step-grandmother in Kenya, has transferred funds, 90 percent of which are raised from U.S. individuals and corporations, to send Kenyan students to the top three most radical Wahhabist madrassas in Saudi Arabia.

Our foreign policy if judged by its' fruits have not been what I would call finger licken good.

It does seem these last few years have been ones of discovery. There was an interesting article on Drudge about Germany (the people) even being pissed at the U.S. Amazing what 10 or 15 years can do to a world standing.

It will be interesting what happens when an agreement is reached with Iran as far as what our supposed allies reactions will be. I am not particularly fond of many of the players anyway.

We may hear something next week and then the realignments will begin in earnest if at all. Great opportunity for Russia and especially china who is lusting for oil to feed their countries business and military plans.

The only way Egypt will go back to that Russian junk is if the US cuts them off. This is what you call bluffing.

Probably you are correct in a sane world however you are dealing with Kings and Princes who in my experience have a very misplaced sense of self worth. Bluff yes..... but if they are not careful they will put themselves in a situation where they can not back down without losing face or their populations doing a little Arab spring due to their perceived weakness. Very fluid with many variables.

The Saudi F-15 during the gulf war that got the kill on the Mig should have been all the proof they needed.

Egypt is beholden to the US as is Israel. This is why 90%, roughly, of all our foreign aid goes to these two countries. The fact is that we have supplied so much military hardware to Egypt that they have no choice but to remain loyal to us.

They may be entertaining other offers from Russia but nothing that would jeopardize their relation with the US. Unless they want to switch their entire military arsenal over to differently produced weapons.
