Congress Weighing Laws to Let People Keep Health Insurance

Oh - the insurance industry is going to love this. They can still sell sucky policies.

Proposed bills in both the Senate and the House of Representatives would stop cancellations of individual insurance policies that don’t meet the requirements of the health care law. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have been notified their existing policies will be canceled, most to make way for new policies that meet the new law’s standards.

I've waded through insurance policies for businesses in the recent past for a couple of different small companies. The 'recommendations' from our agents contain 100s of policies from dozens of companies (in CA).

There is no way to truly compare 'comparable' policies using these tomes of summaries (no details or fine print, this is just the summaries) - most of the hours I've spent was weeding out BAD policies with little actual coverage for large premiums. It's a nightmare. Not even the agents understand it or can (honestly) answer any questions you have. You don't get the actual policy to review until you commit.

Setting 'standards of coverage' makes it easier for the consumer business or individual to compare pricing.

So many this will make the Obama haters happy though I doubt it. It will make this law even more complex.

Universal Single Payer is simple (relatively).

New thought - no socialised health care - then no socialised military.

So the legislation game and scam will begin, it was actually predicted that in order for administration to save face amid the mess ACA will become or has become, legislations will be done, but more mess will be created until the morons give up.

Is too late now, Insurance companies will not stop, because this is a loophole that will allowed for them to raise prices.

Something that the geniuses that crafted ACA (many of them lobbying lawyers for insurance companies) knew it was going to happen and they could benefit from it.

This is what happen when somebody else within the corruption of interest in Washington are the ones that get to influence laws.

We have to pass it first before we know what is in, sadly the truth is, what is not in it what is going screw the people

It seems nice and all that some members are thinking of passing a law to force insurance companies to charge pre aca plan levels.

But.

The real CAUSE for this whole fiasco is the price to see a doctor and the prices for doctors tests on your body.

It is not insurance it is not aca it is the over inflation of the cost of the actual service.

Malpractice insurance minimum coverage mandates.

And Medical school loan payoffs.

Find the root cause of those and the rates will be dropping.

Till then my family is taking its chances.

ACA could had addressed all those issue before it was passed if the intentions were to help the consumer legislating for control of insurance companies and medicine together along with the big pharma when it comes to cost, but in a nation that is all for profits, where money runs in the millions within the halls of congress you got what interest wants.

The close doors meetings between the administration, big pharma and insurance companies were the prof that the ACA was not for our benefit.

We the tax payer and regular people don't have enough money to compete.

Now the legislation will beginning, I can predict who will still be the winners and who will be the losers.

If obama really cared about the people he would have told the people wrting his obamacare act that it needs to be coverage that is good for people and be affordable,make it cheaper than other insurance companies so they will now have to compete for business, anything other than than that I will not pass...PERIOD.

That would deserving of the name affordable healthcare act.

Just out of curiousity, how would this be paid for?
And how much would it cost someone, say a single person making $30,000 per year?
Or a family of four making $45,000?

I keep hearing how this is the answer to our prayers

How will it contain rising drug prices?
Huge lawsuit pay outs?
Rising costs of medical procedures/doctor visits?
Because if that isn't fixed....the cost of this single payer thing will continue to rise....and rise....and RISE!!!!

And do you really think insurance companies, the AMA, and BigPharma are going to let Single Payer happen?

And Obama new NOTHING about it. He still doesn't and won't until he hears about it in the news.

I just had my first ANNUAL ACA exam. on 1 Nov 2013... the office visit to the local VA Clinic used to be a Doctor Patient thing but the Doctor is gone...

instead we now have an Physician Assistant who will be our Primary Care Person who will go over the results of the last blood test data with you... (or other biopsies or fecal cards you may have taken for the ACA 'team'

WE, at the Former VA Health care system are now assigned a Patient Aligned Care Team




in the course of the Primary Care appointment time frame... the PA (Dr Assistant) said i should come back in 6 months to see if the bacteria were gone...
Now---If You are used to getting a 'next appointment card' when finishing your office visit --- you are incorrect ---



according to ACA in the VA facility ...I must make an appointment 1 month in advance of the 6 month timeframe the PA casually mentioned in the course of our talking.



If you are not sharp or astute enough to think things through... then you will be a hapless patient that is ground up in the system with NO follow up office visit.....

You are now responsible for making appointments...not the Team or the Assistant primary care giver



from what i am noticing about ACA....
a VA or Medicare level policy should not be more than $80 per month...
or $960 per year which should be the proper compensation for a 15 minute office visit and a full spectrum blood workup and possibly a turd diagnosis to see if you got polyups or whatever in your bowels..

so the SCarolina exchange healthcare policy rate of $333. per month is highway robbery


let all the taxpayers/voters have upper government health plans
or
let the congress & president get reduced to our levels of policy coverage

just to be fair about it.... i did get 2 formal Thank You letters from the ACA Program operating in the VA facilities very soon after my Nov 1st visit
.. So i have been reminded twice to call in and make an appointment...in a round about way....



there will be so many 'mature'. 'baby-boomers' out there that will not have it in their memory that the appointment method has changed from the Doctor scheduled appointment method they followed for decades
into a new protocol that is a Patient driven request for appointment system

I just can't wait for the Republican/Right Wingers come on this thread and support this just because they think it makes Obama look bad.

Let's step back and think about that.

They are going to support the government to FORCE private insurance companies to not cancel certain health insurance plans.

In a single payer system, the single payer (the government) will negotiate with the drug companies and hospitals/physicians to determine what the cost/price is.

The rising prices will be dealt with because the government will set the price they are going to pay....and that is it...the drug companies don't have a choice but to accept it.

This is where people usually cry "oh evil socialism"...but then they turn around and cry about the rising prices...which are a direct of result of little regulation and drug companies preying on the sick.

I'll take the socialism.

Physician Assistant is been going on for quite a while already, at least in my neck of the woods, the only way I get to see my primary doctor is if I am to make and appointment directly with her (she is a female), now when she is not available or I have no time to make an appointment I rather pay from my pocket to go to a convenient care office but all this convenient care offices in my neck of the wood only have a doctor that is for reviewing symptoms, you do no even see him or her the Physician assistant does all the work.

The emergency rooms also have two areas, the easy care area and the real medical emergency area, I been to the two of them, in one is only physicians assistance the other one you get to be seen by a doctor if the physician assistant believe you are in some emergency, like I did when I had to get emergency surgery on the same day.

I believe that very soon doctors will be scarse and that Physicians Assistance and nurses will be doing all the diagnostic under ACA, so hospitals can save money.

Then my 5 year relationship with Dr Wagner ended with him leaving the VA system a year or so ago

then a VA replacement Physician Dr Graniero stayed less than a Year with the VA clinic here

now... i am getting the PA physicians assistant... no-matter to me, but...
she herself is a 'mature' woman, seems quite professional & qualified... but all the Doctors are gone and the clinic is staffed with technicians & nurses galore and 4 receiving stations to process the Vets instead of the single station that was the norm for the last 16 years i've been going here


things are certainly going the way toward Soylent green primary care procedures i seen in the theatre...
concentration on making end-of-life protocols the most focused on thing


twice i was asked to make a living will or seriously consider one

I tell you what, if the ACA get to stick, that I am very sure it will not, we will never see health care the same ever again, you see St Udio I am from the last generation that was old enough in my childhood to witness when the doctor used to do their rounds visit at home, with his littler black bag, my mother have me and my brother at home, my two younger siblings were "lucky" to be born in a "public hospital" yes it was such a thing back then of public hospitals where my mother didn't pay a penny for her stay.

We used to have this littler clinics for minor cuts and bruises that were also free, I got a few stiches in my time and emergency rooms were free.

Yes the new generations have not clue how it used to be, you know when somebody really care and you got to know them like family friends.

yep... Dr Fisher up in Grand Haven Michigan... always on call....he fixed me up when i got shipped to America from being a German refugee of 2 years old until we left for PA 4 years later when i was 6
he even spoke German with me

0bama had this scheme set up to enrich the drug manufacturers And have a steady revenue source for the Fed Govt (so as to increase his spending...in the immediate future) because the present debt would look ok to other nations now buying Treasuries to a now revenue rich USA Treasury....

the scheme was to buy time on a collapsing USD...to Hades with Insurance they can flounder and continually adjust prices for policies upward & eventually recover profits... having a TAX mandate is essential for this scheme to work---even if health care is not delivered the Govt still gets the revenue stream because the Law is in effect


anyone know the status of the $80 Bn that Pfizer committed to the 0bama reelection campaign for getting ACA enacted as Law in the first place....
watch the upward mobility of the 0bama entourage in the lame duck years forward..and the 2 daughters platinum lined path to their future schooling -employment- etc etc

The government never does anything that is not going to benefit themselves and their donors at the same time, but darn do you have to make sound so ugly?

The dam broke and there is so way to put the same water back. There are and will be millions of new uninsureds. I don't mean this evily, but if Obama can't do some sort of damage control, he will be the most hated president in history. His debacle of the ACA will harden hearts and open him up to legal prosecution of his other debacles when many would have continued to look the other way. He made himself available in the political field of persecution and it won't be only those outside of his party. He may continue to consider himself above all the rest but he will very very soon be knocked down. Oprah can't even save him now.

This whole healthcare BS is the biggest crock of # I have ever seen. If these politicians are so concerned about citizens and their heathcare, why don't they make insurance companies to give the benefits they promised to their customers instead of when someone gets sick the insurance companies start to pull all kinds of tricks. Bastards, all of them!
