I didn't know I was lost

I lack the tools to navigate through the mysteries of life, unable to unlock the full potential of my mind.

While I don't know the secrets of this life, I do know that to uncover them I will have to look deep within.

I am told that inexperience and fantasies cloud my judgement, and I need to awaken from my slumber if I want to learn what life has to offer.

A part of me wants to remain in this slumber as it is familiar and comfortable.

Teach me the secrets of life when I have obtained wisdom and matured, for now I want to continue on my current road.

I am just trying to discover my true identity and didn't realise that this was the wrong path.

I took on too many challenges at once and this caused me to fail.

It would be nice to travel the world and meet different kinds of people, but for now I have nothing set in motion to make this a reality.

The power and beauty of youth are things I don't ever want to lose.

In turn, my imagination is something I do not want to hinder.

It seems life is a production that anyone can take part in and love is the greatest reward.

Is it still okay to close my eyes and dream?

Because I didn't know I was lost...

In the dream, you can stay in the fantasy full of positivity. Wake up into darkness, and you will see unwanted but not important truth. Others who wish to sleep will deny what you say to stay sleeping.

This is true for both the most ignorant

On the whole, I'd say growing up and getting with the programme will do you more good than refusing to face facts.

Assuming that you empathise with the subject of the song --
I don't think the idea that you are on the wrong path will be helpful.

You decide the direction of your path, and there is only one.
Feeling that you are on the wrong one will give rise to helplessness, and indifference to the direction of your next step.
The next step however, is the most important of all.

You mention that you have failed.
That prompted my response, since my own life is crammed with failure.

Have you ever learned to do something very difficult?
I remember learning to weld as a young man, and finding the whole business quite impossible - I explored at length every conceivable way of doing it wrong, in my efforts to do it right, and got very frustrated with repeated failure.
Slowly I realised that the mistakes each had a story to tell, and if I looked failure square in the face I could use it.
I learned the steps: you try - you fail - you try again - you fail again - but you fail better.

In my defence, I've also had some successes - but I'm not sure I learned much from them.

Somewhere in your consciousness there's a compass needle which will, when undisturbed, unerringly point to whatever your direction is.
It's the path of your greatest enthusiasm and deepest joy.
The awareness of it is more visceral than intellectual.
The fear of failure is the first obstacle.
The ego feeling threatened, seeks to avoid danger at any cost.
And it's your move...

Don't panic.
We're all lost.
