I just saw this in the Discover Channel documentary "Urban Legends". They look like fetuses but thier composition is plant-like. I was expecting "Urban Legends" to debunk this but they couldn't after various specialists and a shipment of a sample to the US for study. No specialists debunked it like "Urban Legends" usually do.

Story-time:

The story of this "Nari Pon" was supposed to have originated in Thai fairy tale. A monk was on a trip in a forest for meditation and when he fell asleep he dreamt of 3 ladies. Then when he woke up he found flowers that have shriveled fetus-like things (fruits?) in them.

Back to reality:

A monk has claimed to have took a pair of these things back to him. Scientists in Thailand have studied it but are stumped. I think they know that the scientists at the US will do even better so they sent in a sample. What the scientists got from their findings was that it's plant material with unknown materials. They also did an x-ray of it but no bone structure was found however there are external bone-like structures like a jutting vertebrae like thing at the back. The "specialists" also said that the fetus have big heads.

Nothing else was discussed in the documentary segment after that.

I googled for the keyword "nari pon" but all I got were Thai websites that dealt nothing about the nari-pon thing. The only thing I got was when I googled "nari pon mystery", the results were from the Discovery Channel documentary and other results that dealt with it but no valuable content. No pictures as well. The only images and video is in the Discovery Channel documentary. I also did a search for it here taking a long shot just in case someone else has posted it. No results appeared.

My guess for the lack of English info is that people consider it insignificant or it hasn't been well publicised.

As far as I can describe it, the body seems to be larger and longer than a baby's and the head looks odd. The entire thing looks like a shriveled cadaver. I can easilly dismiss it as a deformed infant but what's quite unusual about this is that it's plant material and other unidentified materials.

My best guess is that it's a very elaborate hoax that the monk used to raise money using local folklore for money. Maybe he even got the "specialists" on his side. Who knows? Just a little addition to ATF.

Do more than two of these Naree Pon's exist if they do then I'd find it easier to accept that they are not some forgery but perhaps some kind of fruit or unknown animal.

They look pretty hoax~ish. Too "suspiciously" shaped to be anything important. Like another recent post in here about the chupacabra being hit by the toyota, it looks to fake to be real. On the site itself it says it might be a gourd that was dried, split, carved, etc. Many things could be done to a plant to make it look like that.

I don't believe it would be hard to send it to "specialists" who would say something conspiracy like. The "monk" probably did do it for moneies/attention!

Sorry I don't have a link, but if you are talking about what I think you are, it is a fruit from a tree in south america or africa, or rather, the seed pods. They do eerily resemble a dried out corpse, but sometimes you do need to use a bit of imagination to see it. Def strange but nothing paranormal about it

Exactly, its a plant simulacra. The chile thing is intresting though, of course no dna testing oe xrays have been done on it.

The "monk" you keep referring to in the story is Buddha. (yes, THE Buddha).

I don't understand why more tests aren't run on these things. This is on the same level as NASA getting a hubble image of another planet with obvious signs of civilization on it and just saying... "oh cool" and moving on. Or SETI picking up a broadcast from nearby in space saying "we're going to invade" and having SETI just shut off the recievers and smile. These objects (both the Naree Pon and the Chile specimine) bare further investigation. If they are hoaxes, then so be it, but on the off chance that they're not, I think the scientific community should satisfy this deep curiosity.

Speaking of which, why do I have a feeling there are those who've already looked further into these matters and have been silenced (or are members of certain groups who aren't saying anything for their own purposes).

I agree, what would it take to contact the family who own the chile and arrange for a closeup x-ray scan of its bone structure from side, front and back? It wouldn't be too hard to get their address or phone number.

Also something I really would like to know is how many fingers are on the hands (yes you can see them and the nails but not in enough detail on the images).

It's a cover up! The broadcast was on Discovery but Discover shows no history of airing it. I watched it myself and have been looking for information on these creatures ever since. It's been erased!

One of the figures looks to us more like a male but with the high number of Ladyboys and Thai Katoeys in Chiang Mai perhaps we should not be so surprised.

Well now, upon further investigation, it seems the episode in question was titled; "Into the Unknown: Sideshows and Skeletons"

Still looking for a valid torrent for the show, but at least I know where to start.
