And there you go, He didn't say what to do when they hit the other cheek or what to do when they hit your kid's cheek.

er… yes he did

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other

But Jesus did say that if you hurt children, then it's better if a millstone were hung about your neck and you were tossed into the sea. The Mafia I think took that to mean grown people to throw in water with cement blocks....

So are you saying the Mafia are like Christians?
personally I’m all for protecting children – I wouldn’t order them sacrificed or dashed on rocks or anything like that

But Jesus was very approving of defending one's child from harm.

it's the revenge factor, not the defense factor. No Christian is permitted to seek revenge. Revenge belongs to God, and God will avenge. But we do have a right of self-defense of our homes. Jesus did also say that the thieves can only rob the house if the strong man of the house is bound.

I do believe Jesus would approve if a husband were to shoot someone who was in the process of raping his wife. But the Christian can't go seek revenge for it, if the law is designed for that.

Just to be clear I’m am all for self defence – but then again I am not very meek either

But I am wondering, if you guys aren’t taking Christianity very seriously then why should anybody else?

I said AFTER....

I am a very serious Christian. After all, I am the Christian who offered this thread. So to me, it is very serious.

And the Mafia one was a joke about how they toss people into the water. Sometimes you have to follow the fact that I do have a sense of humor, but that does not mean I am not serious. If we can't be funny sometimes, then we would all go around with a frown and people would be sad. I don't want people to be sad.

OK, but I am very serious Christian. But I am also able to be funny sometimes.

according to Paul all scripture is "God breathed"... and since he seems to be as important if not more so then Jesus in most Christians sects...

Oh don't get me started on Paul.

Anyways, no Paul isn't as important or more important than Jesus.
In Christianity, Jesus is God Incarnate.
Paul is a Johnny come lately convert to follow Jesus.
Organized Christian religions like Paul. But he isn't what Jesus is ....

to me, a real Christian, is someone who does not participate in evil.

Bank tellers, munitions factory worker, etc.. not something a true Christian would do.

Imagine trying to explain how personally profiting off of evil was ok because "gotta feed the family"

All Christians do evil friend. Thats why we are on Earth and not with God.

So the bank teller folks who take care of savings accounts, etc etc, are doing evil ?????
MY GOD ... I'm glad we have secular rule of law. Religious extremism ... SPOOOOOKY!

ok Mr i r serious Christian, its good to have a sense of humour

So you might like

I came across a quote a few years back, someone was asking a Christian apologist if he was a Christian – he replied

“Its not for me to say that I am a Christian, that’s for you to say”

I am probably misquoting this but hopefully you get the idea

Lightning rods are part of civil codes in buildings, so legally they must be there.

And I R a MS serious Christian.

And the popemobile, well, I suppose the pope needs some kind of protection, I don't think they have as much security in place as our football stadiums. I think a lot of people like the pope, but those who don't.....maybe it was wisdom from God to make the popemobile? And I am not Catholic, but the pope should be able to ride in a vehicle also with some kind of security. Now if it were a pimpmobile, then that's another story. But I don't see it tricked out with rims and rap music isn't blaring from it.

But Christians still build churches in Tornado Alley. We understand that natural disasters happen.

In my opinion, salvation comes the same way as it always has. By grace, through faith.

t has become apparent to me that there are two types of Christians. One is the God-given Christianity, the other is the man-made Christianity. I am a Christian so draw your conclusions of mine after this post.
They are all going to think that whatever they believe is from God, and anyone else's belief is from man, just by a natural human pride in the self, individual, or group.

That just means that you have a savior, and you didn't have to make one, or become one yourself.
Modern pop-culture religion took the word, "salvation" and redefined it to mean a guaranteed ticket to the Rapture.

A VERY good point.... rarely discussed. I see many of these types.

I know of one who is director of the largest alcoholic sales division in the U.S. who pushes alcohol consumption and filling your home with various alcoholic beverages because it is his job.

Then no one should work as a coal miner, as steel is made by that, and steel is used in tanks, no Christian should work in the food production, because that feeds armies, no Christian should make clothing, because that clothes soldiers.

That is not a practical solution. There is no evil in working and to be a good citizen as the Bible commands, we have to submit ourselves to the higher powers. You can make that choice of conscience, but you can't deprive children the necessary food and shelter.

Sometimes you have to make that sacrifice for your children.

Not an acceptable answer. So it is OK if I sell tickets to a live pornographic display between a woman and a donkey? Show starts in 15 minutes.

There are jobs that are unacceptable. I just made one.

AkragonA Gospel Christian...
Is that a legit sect?

FlyerFan- What is a 'legit sect'?? Who has authority to say what is 'legit' and what isn't??
- Does someone HAVE to belong to an organized group?
- Why can't someone like the message of the gospels and reject the OT mythology?

As far as there being two types of Christians; why not 4 or 5. Who determined this ONLY TWO to be something to be considered 'OP WarminIndy' is reckless and haphazard in its assumption. I think of it like the disposable 'BIC' razor, (ONLY TWO BLADES!!?) why not FIVE; well here we go 20 years later a 5 bladed moisturized razor. What would Jesus say if he in fact shaved? I know what he'd say regarding Christianity "I WASNT THERE I WAS NOT A CHRISTIAN I was an Essene Prophet from Nazareth". Regarding disposable razors from this decade? "Why werent they available to the shepherds in that timeline to shear the sheep?" Then we would have to get into historical conundrums that make no sense. There are more than two types of Christians, there are:
Babtists, Mormans, Seventh Day Adventists, Christian Scientists, Generic Catholics, Methodists, Roscicrusions, Lutherans, Unitarians, Jehovah Witnesses, Episcapalians, Quakers, Amish, Shakers, Mennonites, Fundies, more Babtists, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, etc. Name your GAME THE Christian CHESS PLAYS FORWARD (first move).
Whatever happened 300 years hense/following the crucifiction at Golgatha (in Greece) was "Paul the divine's" Perfect Catholic Church. Paul, (a major TOOL funster) thinks he is The Epistle as far Jesus's ministry is concerned.

Don't worry now about various groups in Christianity or what type of Christian you are, prepare to accept God showing you the faith. Singular, it's coming soon. God's desire is that we all believe the same, remember Our Lord's prayer to the Father.

God is going to make it very clear in the prophesied worldwide awakening. Free will, the choice, still up to you.
