A pretty shocking video showing what the US is doing to many people.

This man was paying $180 a month for his insurance...for him and his family. He is suffering from cancer so obviously needs treatment. It wont happen though as his premium is now being increased to $1500 a month. He cannot afford it, and he doesnt want to take food off his families table or make their life harder...so he has decided not to pay anything and just let nature take its course.

How can this happen in a 1st word developed country??

This is mental, im sure he isnt the only person handed a death sentence with this insurance change.

Way to sensationalize, your title is very misleading.

Though I can agree with your theory of what the ACA is doing to individuals in America, I cannot however agree with your title nor your OP.

Lastly, who uses Fox News, as if they aren't known to sensationalize themselves on EPIC levels.

Well, the promise was only that you would have to be accepted with a pre-existing condition. Had they specified you wouldn't be financially ruined by it?

Look at the bright side...When he's lost everything and is on the street, he'll qualify for benefits, which ought to get him into Medicare....just in time for hospice care. (okay..bright side is sarcasm..and this is evil)

Come over to Europe. We still have some socialism left.

Best hurry before it's all gone here as well.

How can it happen?

Simple.

The right wing.

So, you want to dis Edie Sundby, too?

She's a stage 4 gall bladder cancer patient who has successfully fought the disease well past the average survival rate thanks to her insurance policy which has laid out over $1 million for treatments and the dedicated and coordinated care of two specific doctors.

Of course, ThinkProgress estimates that she might save some money off the exchange policy. but even they admit that she will lose one of her two doctors who have been so pivotal to her survival thus far. She might save money, but that's could comfort in the face of disruption of vital treatment thanks to loss of doctor.

Now, are you going to slam me for using overly sensationalized sources? Although I would call ThinkProgress pretty in the tank.

One liner that adds nothing to the discussion....we can all pick flaws.

The guy will die sooner because he cannot afford the healthcare he was promised, its a death sentence, not just for him but many others in a similar situation. He will die a slow, painful death most likely. Ive seen cancer patients in the final stages, and if they were not heavily medicated on Morphine they would be in agony.

He cannot afford the healthcare, he has been told that he will just have to deal with it on his own basically. Hes condemned to death through no fault of his own. Had his insurance carried on, as is, he could have looked forward to many more years with his wife and young daughter. But he cant, so he has to die.

That's what you get when you let the right wing write your healthcare reform bill.

I suppose if this man owns a house and has a little too much in his bank account, he cannot get medicaid, but often people will have fund raisers to help people like this. There is still hope and I am thinking that especially after that news cast, donations will be pourring in.

Specifically i want to address this part...

who uses Fox News, as if they aren't known to sensationalize themselves on EPIC levels

All the UFO guys, all the "truthers", all the chemtrail lot....i can carry on??
I personally dont watch it, as im not from the US.

Whats wrong with the op...i just tell you what happens in the video then say how weird i think it is that a developed country charges people for healthcare, at huge premiums.

Title is a bit out there, but by no means misleading if you read the op, or the description in the video itself.

Here's a lovely thought:
Won't he have to pay a penalty for not buying insurance?
(or his survivors will be billed)

I think he mentions that somewhere in the video, he says something about a $95 fine.

It’s the conservatives who don’t allow single payer so all this kind of stuff won’t happen
They are 100 percent to blame.

The congress almost passed a public option that would have given ALL Americans health care but the GOP blocked it.

Fox news doesn’t care about health care they are just criticizing the maladies of the ACA for their cheap political points. They and the GOP don’t give a dam about ordinary human beings.

So knock the crap off!

Fully agree with the OP.
The requirement for unaffordable insurance to pay grossly inflated bills vs dieing, is disgusting. Similar to the story a few months back when a good Samaritan saved a drowning boy and was then forced to cough up his hospital bill.

For genuine health problems ie Cancer, broken bones and doctors appointments treatment should be free.
Its happening all throughout Europe and Australia. Only elective surgery such as cosmetic is charged.
If I had a small cough right now, all I would need to do in Australia is go to my local doctors and show my medicare card and that would be that. No payments or requirements to be poor.

The first step is to trace the criminal profits of the insurance/pharmaceutical companies and invest /taxpayers/ money (your money that they have already taken from you) back into the system, as opposed to drop a $300 000 smart bomb on a $10 tent in the middle of a desert in a third world country who is no threat to you.

But if this was so poorly written by the right, then why did the left all sign off on it? Maybe they thought no one needed to even check it or read it first? At least this is what Pelosi said..

This thing getting passed has nothing to do with political affiliations, but what is funny is seeing you use it to try and denigrate the right, or conservatives.. But it is also true that the left had the ultimate power to stop it from passing, but they WANTED it to pass, so it really wasn't the "right's" fault after all, now was it?

Your secret is safe with me, I know how political obsessions can cloud people's logical thinking, and sensible reasoning abilities, so no need for you to worry, I'm sure you'll outgrow it someday.

Its the same here in the UK in regards to free healthcare. You dont have to show anything at all, just register with a doctor and then ALL your healthcare is free....some people even get boob jobs, tummy tucks, gastric bands, nose jobs and other sorts of comsetic surgery for free. The only thing you have to pay for really is the dentist...but they are subsidized so your not paying the full price.

This is why i find it so weird to have to pay for healthcare, where do all the tax $ go?? On the military?? Clearly they have their priorities wrong. I cant imagine having to budget for being ill or getting injured.

No, you just get gouged for it everywhere else in the form of taxes both open and hidden. Your cost of living is hideous.

I believe that this just the beginning of Agenda 21. Thinning of the population. Maybe our fearless leader should send hundreds of millions to another foreign country for Ramadaan. Hey it's the season for giving! He thinks we at home don't need it for health care or food assistance. I feel sorry for this man. I will say a prayer for him and his family thru these tough times ahead. Many more Americans will go thru this Satanic torture, cutting corners, whittling away at policies and benefits. Just to put money in the pockets of family friends. They won't stop taking things away from you until you die, then they will chase your children for your debts, yes, the IRS isn't finished with you when you die.
