Yes! That is when sci-fi was a real presence -- Theodore Sturgeon, Isaac Aisimov, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clark, Ray Bradbury, Frank Herbert, Kurt Vonnegut, C.L Moore, etc. etc. I loved the short stories of the 50's, 60's, 70's.

I think every entry is a winner, but then I am not a judge.

I didn't because I thought designated judges did that. ????

GOSH NO!

The whole contest is build on members reading and starring and flagging.

members who participated as well as those who didn't.

Go head and do some voting now

The problem with that process includes subjective reasoning.

Not necessarily. In fact, it's very simple, and it doesn't requires any logical reasoning: you like a story, you star and flag it. Doesn't matter if it's a writer or a non-writer, if it's an Angel instead of an AI. What matters is, did you liked the story? If yes, you S&F it; if no, you don't. Simple.
Then, the winner is chosen according to how much people liked his story, which means, according to how much people S&F him.

It's not like in the Hugo Awards, where it's designated judges that decides if the story is good or not. It's a contest based on the people's voting through S&F. Better that way, 'cause you really know if the common laymen loved your story or not.

So don't worry. Next contest, you can S&F any story you like, even if you want to flag all the stories. There's no limit, no criteria.

Wow

There's so many entries... makes me kinda glad I only made one. Don't wanna overload everyone.... some more.

I'm really glad I got some readers too...

I let Adam read it and he teared up (as I did writing it).

We're both angry on the outside, soft on the inside~

I enjoyed reading the stories, everyone.

I couldn't read them all, I'm sorry... been dealing with life stuff, and there were sooooo many entries this time... jebus, I dunno how you lot do this much reading and writing.

God speed everyone~

Looking forward to a Christmas contest.

Not necessarily. A multitude of random subjective view can create an objective, or "universal" view.

Hey guys, this isn't the place for it. No need to derail the thread when you can just as easily take it to private messages. I wouldn't be saying anything if I wasn't very familiarized with how swiftly abstract discussions can throw the topic off.

All right! you asked for it...
When I think about the december theme... talk about a challenge... Just kidding. It'll be fun.

By the way your new avatar rocks. My diagnostic is based on his joyful face and his continuous yet smooth leg movements.

Hey, now! Take it easy! This was something of a challenge for me, but there's no reason to raise the bar so soon after deflowering myself on the virtual canvas of ATS!

In which reality? If you are referring to peer review within subjects that are scientifically or evidence-based then perhaps (minus peer egoism), as for judging creativity (art forms), I still remain of the opinion that it can only be subjective.
