Are we so divided we cannot put aside partisan bickering?

Will you take a pledge to outright reject both parties until our Liberty is restored ?

Most of the issues we face can be resolved by simply restoring our stolen Liberties.

1.) I will not vote for either Party until my Constitutional Rights are restored.

2.) I refuse to participate in petty partisan arguments while they steal my Freedom.

3.) I will steadfastly defend the Rights and Liberties that so many have died for.

If not us who? If not now, when? Will it be our generation that gave the dream away?

Are we so easily distracted? Can we at least agree that our Rights are worth it?

I don't expect many to take my pledge....Too many distractions.

Well, as long as we can't all agree on anything we are in trouble.

I thought maybe, most of us could agree on these three things.

Agree or disagree....Please be respectful. Thanks in Advance.

I am glad that someone made this post.

It can easily be argued that all of our Presidents have been doody-heads for quite some time--regardless of their party affiliation.

People tend to forget so quickly.

Bush was just as bad as Obama.

OK, I'll bite.

However, if we don't participate in the system, how do we defend our rights and liberties? Those who do participate in the system will only vote to take them away from us.

I swore off the left and right long ago, so I would have no problem taking this pledge!

Its time that we stop allowing ourselves to be divided, and come together for the common goal of protecting our constitutional rights and liberties AND time for us to use our power as The People to get people in office that actually care about us and the preservation of our rights.

Star and Flag for you!

Personally, I don't have any love for either party. It just happens that the Democrats are in control right now and making a grand mess of things. It was pretty much the same during Bush's tenure and when the GOP had the reigns. Because of all the blind loyalty out there for both mudblup camps... there is regular defending of the indefensible from both sides.

If I had my way, I would like to unelect every incumbent on Capitol Hill and replace it with a freshman class in the House and Senate. I would also wish to eliminate both parties and see that each candidate was basically independent and was responsible for creating their own personal platforms, paying for their own campaigns and see them make cross country trips to the states and meet real people in person... not just on TV or the web.

Addendum:

Almost forgot this...

1.) I will not vote for either Party until my Constitutional Rights are restored.

2.) I refuse to participate in petty partisan arguments while they steal my Freedom.

3.) I will jealously defend the Rights and Liberties that so many have died for.

A-1 - If I decline to vote, then I can't gripe about who wins. Don't think this avenue is a good one.

A-2 - I do indeed try and avoid petty partisan bickering already...

A-3 - I prefer the word 'steadfastly' over 'jealously' in defending the Rights and Liberties that so many have died for.

Cheers

Personally I decided a long time ago to vote Neither party that holds office.

Past two election I voted neither Dem or Rep, as those are the guys that got us where we are.

We can't solve problems with the same type of thinking that caused them in the first place, its that simple.

Since the advent of Go To Meeting software. I think the House should revert back to the original rule that there should be Representative for every 400 and some odd thousand people like it used to be, and they should stay in their districts all the time to be accessible to their constituents and use computers to meet most of the time. Maybe they should only have an actual in person session once per year and it should be more like a convention and not an actual legislative session as we know them.

There is not a nickels difference in either group of thieves.

They just have a rotation that just keeps getting richer.

I just want my Rights back.

We have third Party options.

*took your advice and added steadfastly.

I would say penny's difference... but it's okay.

No argument there.

I just want my Rights back.

My pill is that I will disregard any law that clearly violates our constitution. That is not to say I am going to take to the hills... but I don't have to respect or recognize it.

We have third Party options.

Yup... know that but, like I said in my first reply - I choose to avoid the partisan bickering so... my political views stay safely tucked away on certain sites.

Quite simply...no...no I will not.

And neither will anyone else. Sure, you have people in here claiming they will and that they have not been part of the "two party system" for a long time.

But the fact is that they are still as partisan as any Democrat or Republican and any political remarks they make either benefit or hurt the Democrats or Republicans. I don't care if they call themselves "Libertarian" or "Green Party" or "Independent"...whenever they state their opinion it doesn't benefit their third party or independent view...it only adds to the two party rhetoric.

The two party system exists because it is the natural state of the FPTP (first past the post/winner take all) election system. The reason we will not get out of the two party system is because most people don't even realize that this is the issue. They just think that they can change the two party system by trying to create a "third party"...and it just won't work. The only way to change the two party system is to change the FPTP election system to MMP (Mixed Member Proportional) or PR (Proportional Representation)...but not one single person in these threads are talking about them....in fact I would bet most of you "third party" advocates have just learned a few new phrases because you've never even heard of FPTP, MMP and PR. The fact that the people screaming the loudest for wanting to change the two party system are advocating a third party as a way to do this just shows how clueless they are and why we are no where near changing the two party system.

Here is the thing...the buzz around a "third party" is an essential part of the two party system. You aren't being a rebel, you aren't being an independent thinker, you are being a pawn as long as we have a FPTP system. Because the biggest supporters of the Libertarian party are the Democrats and the biggest supporters of the Green party are the Republicans...I'll leave it to you to figure out why.

That is why I will take no pledge. The game in town is the two party system...doesn't matter if you say you will "never vote for one of the two parties"...you are still an integral part of the two party system and are relied upon to think the way you do. So why be a pawn when you can be a knight and actually be part of the game?

So in other words, you would rather continue to participate in a known corrupt system, rather than do something to change it, to where it would be fair to everyone whom participates??? Even though we know that those of the 2 parties that are elected fail to uphold the Constitution? Nice!

I agree in spirit.

Partisan bickering is what I do for fun though.

I wish we had just 2 parties.

One party for big government, the other party for small government.

I will agree to keep my eye on the big picture, and pledge to not lose focus on petty issues.

I will further pledge to look for the things that unite us, rather than divide us.

(smiley emoticon here)

I have been non partisan for years, as soon as I realised I was pigeon holing myself and restricting my version of reality, I realised the charade of partisanship was a fraud. A mere theatrical illusion of choice and preset debate to guide discourse so the serfs actually think they can vote for change and that they have freedom.

I tried, but when I see a post that says in earnest
Bush was as bad as Obama, I wanna throw up.
Bush is a historic level of awful.
2 wars and drove the US economy into a ditch,
by robbing the baby boomers at just the right time.
911,Patriot Act, Enhanced Torture what the F**** didn't that man
I mean Cheney, mess up ?

Obama as much as he is owned by wall street*
ends two wars gets health care passed
(something many presidents have tried to do for 70+ years)
And turns a nose dive US economy around. And I know on ATS FOX NEWS
it's all a big lie. But in reality, this is all true,
even when it's never discussed in Rightwing dreamland.
(*Ted Cruz is literally married to wall street btw)

This president got a bunch of good ol boy lawmakers
that decided to take the football home when he showed up on the field .
And I for one am VERY ashamed of the racism and lies that most of you
believe as fact.

Also the pendulum is SO FAR RIGHT in favor of Corporations
we can't get them to label what's in our food ?
Predator lenders rob our seniors blind and then tell them
Obama has death panels waiting for them..
American families go bankrupt because Mom gets breast cancer
but Obama care is socialism and will ruin the country ??
Really ? Really ? Do you know how much Americans not going bankrupt
would help the economy?

Energy Corps can spew so much of secret proprietary chemicals
into groundwater that homeowners can light their tap water on fire.
Why ? No regulations at all. Because if we couldn't light our water
on fire it must mean there is a commie in charge of the country ?

So I understand where you're coming from, and I'd love to help
but in my opinion we are way too far off the mark to meet in the middle just yet.

I think it's fascinating to see who is so partisan, they cannot even conceive of others turning from the 2 party political games, let alone considering it themselves...in contrast to those who are weary and tired of the infighting while those at the top look down, slap each other on the backs and laugh at us.

As long as we divide by choice, those at the top have absolutely nothing to worry about. If we ever unite, even on single issues, they'll have much to fear and it'll show when sudden new crisis pop up from nowhere to dominate the news and turn us back on each other for different reasons. Race...Religion...whatever. There is always a pre-set lever they can yank, and they know it.

Do you really think that "they" care if you are partisan or non-partisan?

As a Libertarian, I'm still not naive enough to think my vote counts for jack ****!!

The American political system is an illusion, a sham, and "they" will do whatever "they" damn well please regardless of what the electorate wants.

The corporate oligarchy is so entrenched that votes just don't matter and nothing short of a biblical style armageddon will change that.

Actually I really enjoy participating in the partisan exchanges on ATS; but it's nothing more than intellectual masterbation.

Cynical......... goddamn right I'm cynical because there is no Justice and I don't expect that to change anytime soon. As a culture we have forsaken honor and truth in favor of corruption, nepotism, and the quest for the almighty dollar; not just in politics but everywhere! A society is defined by it's attitudes and we have changed from a pride in "built to last" to a disposable, I want something new, consumerist, mockery of the people that made this a one time great country.

As pogo said..."we have met the enemy and he is us"

Explain to me the alternative?

And if you say, "support a third party", I think you need to watch your own video again. We don't set the rules, I know some die hard 'Muricans think they do...but they don't. We play the game with the rules that are set up.

For those whom don't understand "Aliens" post, here is a simple video to help understand it......

The video does a good job of explaining what I was talking about. Did you watch the other videos where he explains how the "queen" wants to switch to a new system that is more fair? There is the rub...in the United States, we don't have a "queen" who can just unilaterally declare that we are changing our election process. To do that, we would need Congress to change that...and who controls Congress??? Yep, the two parties that would only stand to lose if FPTP was eliminated to an alternative election system.

In the United States, we are forever doomed with FPTP...because we have already made it to the stage in FPTP where there is a two party system.

So please tell me...what exactly are you doing to change this system?
