To preface all of this. I am not religious, I don't believe in Ghosts, I don't believe in the Paranormal or Cryptozoology. I don't even BELIEVE that Aliens are visiting us in UFO's, they may be...but as far as the Roswell, Area 51, Abduction, ect thing it's not me. I am professional dude with a family and bills and the following is a true account of what my family and I saw when I was a child. I actually called my mom last night telling her that I was going to recount this to somebody and wanted to get all my facts straight...she recalls what I recall.

I was 9, so that would have made this 1982. My father, my Mother and I were driving down the largest street in our town in Southern California. We were at a stoplight and over a shopping center, maybe 40-50 feet from us and just above the top of a "Mervyn's" store (remember those?), was a UFO. It was pretty big...25-40 feet across, shiny silver and just hovering. My mom said "what is that?" and we all looked and proceed to stare at it for 60-90 seconds. Beyond looking EXACTLY like you think a UFO would look we could tell it was rotating because there appears to be small squares all around the edges. They looked like windows, but could have been just square reflective surfaces.

Anyway, after 90 seconds this thing takes off...from a full stop to super fast immediately and rises 100-200 feet in the air and off to the west. We were only a few blocks away from the freeway so my dad jumped on the freeway and we tried to track it. We went 4-5 miles on the freeway shadowing it until it was totally beyond the horizon. Hard to know it's speed but faster then a plane, 400-500 MPH maybe?

We got off of the freeway and went to an Italian restaurant and nobody spoke a word, the entire time...we just sat there. I remember feeling how Hot my face was, like I had been out in the sun all day. At the time I remember my mom saying afterward that there had been a mention of people seeing this UFO in a small column in the local paper.

A few weeks after this incidence I developed a pretty bad case of Rosacea (Spelling?) on my face that lasted actually until my late teens. I don't know if it's related, but I think it was because of the timing and how I felt like my face was on fire after that.

So that's my story. UFO's exist, no BS. I saw it, I don't know what was inside and if was terrestrial or not. I'd like to think it was something interesting and I saw it for a reason as it made me a very inquisitive person about everything that isn't mainstream and that's enriched my life and made me a more interesting person I think.

Comments are welcome and thanks for reading!

Thanks for sharing this experience with us!

I agree, I think UFOs are manmade, and whoever is in these things is trying to pass for "aliens" so that we don't think about blaming humans for their weird experiments.

But whatever mean of propulsion these UFO got, I want it.

Outstanding. You been storing that for a lifetime, feels great to let it out like that, huh? So many others like that wish they could, too.

Thanks for the story, I had a sighting of a sphere about a decade ago and it was the main reason I started here too.

I have to presume terrestrial origin for all of these but, it certainly is hard to convey the curiosity of actually seeing something up close.

Me thinks you have found the right place to discuss it!

Yeah, I used to share the story when I was younger. I thought it was interesting and people would believe me, needless to say after ridicule and such I stopped sharing. When I mention occasionally now that I saw something to someone, eyes roll. It's weird, people will believe in an invisible omnipotent god but roll their eyes when someone says they saw something inexplicable that's not religious.

Not to worry. This is the place to bring personal stories like that. Times have changed. There is still firm controls on actual evidence but nothing reminds us or links us all like personal tales that ring true like yours.

Heres a thread about shapes of craft witnessed by others that you might find interesting.

I didn't read the post, but I just wanted to say that you have, by far, the best Avatar. Everyone has that 1 game that changed their lives, and for me, it was FFVIII.

That must feel good to tell finally after all these years! Anyway I have a small request for you, do you think you can draw a picture of it? I believe a lot of people in these forums relate to it and deeply understand you.

Thank you for your story!

Remember we are all searching for the truth, whatever it is. What if in that journey we can help a couple (A LOT) of people?

Don't you find that statement kind of odd? I would think after seeing something so out of the ordinary your family would have been talking about it over dinner. Are you sure nothing else happened that you're not aware of? There have been UFO sightings similar to yours where after the sighting nobody spoke about what they saw. In some or these cases, people have gone under hypnosis and have found out there was much more to the sighting than what they remembered.

It's also quite coincidental how your face felt it was on fire. Any missing time after the sighting?

Hmm California...hmmm hollywood..hmmm movies! Sounds to be like they were making a Sci-Fi Tv and hoisting that thing around on a crane. With the passage of time you forgot about seeing the crane and only left with the impression of a Ufo. Human memory is very fallible. But cool story.

Thank you for sharing the experience. There has been a good response to the post mainly due to the fact that there was no photo or video. Had there been one, people would have put their debunkers hat on and there would be critism and skeptism.

Perhaps there is a lesson to be learnt here. May be people who have footage should hold back from publishing them. There would then be a better response and a proper initial discussion - the way it ought to be. After a while discussing the topic the footage could then be presented. The atmosphete would be right.

Never thought about any of that, but not talking at dinner did seem weird which is why I mentioned it. It just seemed like we were all in a haze or stunned or something.

No missed time, I can't really speak to what happened I don't know about

A crane travelling at 400-500 mph? Not much call for them on construction sites surely?

That's true. When I hear somebody talk about "angels" or having a "vision" or seeing a "Ghost" my immediate response to call BS on them. But then, I have a story like that and I know it's true. It makes you actually consider the possibility that some of the out there "paranormal" stories people tell, they might believe.

Great story I know how it feels when you can tell your story.. I see that you tell this with curtain kind of distance in the story line , as if you have allot questions on your mind.

I've had several sightings myself , and it always has given me a great feeling .That also why I signed up here...

peace

Had you gotten tested for allergies back then? Sounds like you might have had a reaction to whatever it was that you had seen. Or had you been tested for radiation perhaps? Reminds me of the incedent of two ladies that saw something being flown/escorted by black helicopters and ended up dying of radiation poisoning (offhand I forget their names but it is a well known and unfortunate case). CE2s are interesting regardless.
