HEADS UP to all Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield policy holders; your letter is in the mail:
November 4, 2013

Dear _(Me)_____:

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is discontinuing your individual health benefit plan because it doesn't meet all the requirements of the new health care reform laws )also called the Affordable Care Act).

Thanks, Obama...you S*B, but we actually LIKED our insurance policy.

BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH...

Currently, our insurance was costing us $821 per month...it was still affordable to us...and it satisfied all of our needs.

BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH...

As a convenience to you, we're transitioning you to a health care reform compliant plan...This new plan, ANTHEM ESSENTIAL DIRECTACCESS-CBCE is available at $1,316.06.

So, thanks to Barack Obama, my family has not only, today, LOST a policy we liked and wanted to keep...we are now going to have to pay $500 MORE a month!

So we're 'piss*d'! My wife and I hereby solemnly vow NEVER to vote for ANY Democrat...EVER AGAIN; in ANY election!

So, be advised: If you're with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, YOUR cancellation letter is probably in the mail (if not your mailbox) already. If you've already received yours...Please share your story.

$831 dollars a month up to $1300?!?! I cannot believe you have to pay that much per month just for healthcare.....

I am absolutely gobsmacked! Damn makes me really appreciate the NHS over here in England now....
edit on 6-11-2013 by KingDoey because: (no reason given)

Makes me feel extremely lucky to live somewhere with free healthcare. I could not imagine ever having to pay that much for it, nor would I would I ever be able to afford, I would be bankrupt in a month.

My wife received her cancellation letter also. But she didn't vote for the current "Liar and Thief". If someone loses their insurance due to ObamaCare and they voted for Obama...tough crap! You were probably one of the ones calling the rest of us racists, swearing allegiance to this fool and his un-American beliefs. I'm glad you lost your insurance...you deserve it. You voted for it. My wife didn't. She doesn't deserve it nor do my children (one getting ready to start college) who will also have to deal with the loss of money.

If you voted for him and his ideals...wiping his ass with the constitution, lying about everything, taking from everyone and deciding who deserves it back (surprise...his friends and supporters), etc. You deserve all of this. We don't.

Who said I ever voted for Obama...or that I ever supported Obamacare? On the contrary.

Honestly, I am glad it got canceled. Everyone that voted for this BS voted under the idea it would cost someone else more money.

Each of you who voted for Obama voted think you were sticking it to the rich man, while everyone who was conservative tried to explain to each of you how much money you would end up spending.

The cost of Obama care went to a vote in the House in 2010, when they tried to stop it, because it was going to shut down so many individuals plans, and raise the cost of insurance for so many people.

The Democratic mentality of trying to stick-it to the rich man, does not work, because the rich man does not have enough money to pay for all this BS stuff. Pull your head out next time you vote, otherwise be prepared to suffer the consequences of giving away your individual freedom.

I can't wait until people start getting fined. Oh, wait taxed, it was fined at first, but fines would be unconstitutional, so now it is taxed.

Your President, not my President is a liar. Plain and simple, and you fell for it, and most of you have to much pride to admit it.

(BS = Barry Soetoro, what did you think I meant?)

Everyone, don't worry!

President Obama said that he is sorry about all this on NBC tonight! See, it's right here!

It should only be a week or two before we start seeing commercials similar to this from South Park:
We're Sorry

I TOTALLY blame the Democrats...This law passed without a single Republican vote.

Yes, but the supposed "conservative" SCOTUS upheld it.

Well the lame excuses are like butt holes everybody have one, he is trying to change his original statement of keeping your insurance if you like it.

I guess the Democratic party needs to keep itself distanced from the ACA fiasco because it can hurt the next big elections.

The dropping of insurance policies is the retaliation the insurance business is doing against ACA and they are going to benefit with it as they will come back selling more expensive plans with the excuse that is qualifying under the ACA.

Meanwhile people forget that insurance companies Will also be the recipients of billions of dollars on subsidies pay directly to them, so they are to win two times, their record profits have to be protected anyway they can.

Employers with 50 or more employees must provide you with insurance.

Patriotsrevenge
And it sucks compared to the ACA insurance because they got a pass. The deductibles are ridiculous and their big sales pitch is "well its a health savings plan lol". The first time you have to use it for anything its a debt making plan.

Even if your employer provides insurance you can still get ACA instead.

TerrorMaster this is only an issue w/ individual policies. Group policies are not affected, well from what I've seen anyways. So far the only ways group policies have been affected is that there have been many happy women who now get free breast pumps, contraceptives, and other preventative care for both men an women. Well, that is except for the ASO policies (self insured) who have opted out of these things.
I know this ( and I am probably setting myself for some kind of craziness and anger, though I am used to it) becuase I am a customer service rep for bcbs.
So I guess if anyone has any questions I can try to answer, but I am only a rep for group polices (thru an employer) not individual. I don't have any training in those types of policies, but I can try to answer questions to the best of my ability.

Dont' blame the Democrats. The ACA is a copy of a Republican governor's plan. It satisfies the usual Republican responsibility crap that people should pay their own way in life, even if they can't afford it. I think they should have extended Medicare to the whole population and make it free for everyone. But no insurance company or Republican would agree to that - besides putting insurance companies out of business, it would be, gasp, Socialism!

I'm sorry for your hardship, but I'm glad that everyone's insurance prices are going up.

Real change won't happen until those that are comfortable are made uncomfortable.

I think you meant to say, "real change won't happen until people who have worked hard for themselves and achieved something from their own labor have their achievements and earnings forcibly taken from them for no reason, and given away to people unwilling to care for themselves."

FYFY.

News: Your healthcare is not "free." It may be given to you for "no cost to you" but it's not free. The doctor has to get paid; the nurse has to get paid; the company that supplies the gauze, vaccine, stethescope, aspirin has to get paid; the person who delivers the gauze, vaccine, stethescope, aspirin to the doctor's office has to get paid; the owner of the office building/hospital has to get paid; the guy who sanitizes the surgery room has to get paid; the electric company that lights the building has to get paid.

For every dollar that is spent for your "free" health care, someone *other than you* goes to work and earns it, only to have it forcibly taken away from him/her to be spent on you. I could go on but if you don't understand that it's not "free" now, you probably never will. A little acknowledgement, humility and gratitude would do you well.

Total Bummer folks.
I live in Canada, the Great-White-North.
My health care is free.

No it is not free, How much is taken out of your Paychecks in taxes, and what is your property tax? No it is not free ,you are all paying for it. I am not saying that is a bad thing.

Our premiums are paid to the Province not the Fed. Here in Ontario the provincial tax is around 5% of gross income. How much of that covers Ontario Health Insurance Premiums (OHIP) I couldn't say. It's still one heck of a lot cheaper than any plan private or otherwise I've heard about in the states. One thing to remember is it doesn't cover meds, dental, eye-wear and electives so it's not 100% coverage. Employer benefits or additional private insurance (usually at costs much lower than any US providers) is available to cover these costs for most.

To sum up we don't usually notice any costs to ourselves so it seems free even though it isn't. For what little we do pay we get great medical service regardless of the exaggerated stories one might hear.

I hope the government gets this mess sorted out and everyone can find an affordable plan for their families. This whole ACA was poorly handled and poorly implemented and I think it's going to take quite a while to get sorted out if at all.

I would hazard to say that the only people in Ontario who think the healthcare is great are people that don't have to use it very often. I have to run thyroid panels on Canadians when they come down here because they can only get a tsh drawn there.

My FIL had a 2 year weight for joint replacement.
I know someone who has a 9 month wait for a urology appt. my sister has been on a waiting list for a year to get speech therapy for her son, and forget about getting prenatal care until you are 12-18 weeks along. A friend of mine with stage 4 ovarian cancer has been waiting for a bed at the cancer hospital for a month now. Another friend has an incredibly sick boy with CF and they just had to wait a week for a bed at sick kids . As a doctor in the States, I have found Canadian doctors to be rude, without empathy, and condescending. They have the "Iam god, don't dare to question me" complex that gives doctors everywhere a bad name. Not to say that you don't see it in the States, but I find the egos far more inflated amongst my fellow Canadians.

I got into a pissing match with my MIL's cardiologist over statins and CoQ10 depletion. Despite me showing him the black box warning on the drug insert and showing him that there hasn't been a single study that warrants statin use in women over 60, he refused to acknowledge that it would be prudent to supplement her with what she was getting depleted of.

Canadians get perverse pleasure out of knocking American healthcare, but I have lived in both countries, and I would take the American system any day! (Now that may change because of the debacle obummer has gotten us into with insurance companies, but every hospital of any size in the US has an MRI, Ontario has something like 6 for the whole province. You can't tell me that is progress!)

Really! Sounds more like a grudge rather than a statement of facts. I and most of the people I do know with medical conditions have never had a problem with our healthcare. Wait times have been minimal unless it's a non-critical condition. Maybe this is because we live in the Kingston area and have access to a number of facilities in the region. I don't know, I can only comment on what I've witnessed and experienced.

So I take it you were raised/educated/trained in Canada and for whatever reason you decided to move to the States. Well the money certainly is better! Too bad we have a serious shortage of Doctors/Medical Professionals for that very reason which just compounds any problems. Also judging by the inordinate amount of detail you seemed necessary to flesh out your criticism I'd say the Doctors that stayed here aren't the only ones with an attitude problem. Actually your argument sounds familiar have you posted a similar criticism somewhere else?

Maybe I'm reading your post far more negatively than you intended. Either way you have your experiences I have mine. Not that this is germaine to the OP.
