HALF of People Enrolled in Illinois Medicaid Are Not Eligible

Apparently the State of Illinois has been on a Federal "Watch List" for 'high risk of waste and abuse'.

Now somebody is saying that 1/2 of Illionis medicaid enrollees are not eligible.

Very alarming.

How much fraud and abuse can State budgets take ?

The story has a video that explains....

SOME of this is apparently confirmed by Illinois officials.

As a side note, Illinois is one of several states $ Expanding $ Medicaid under PPACA.

The study found that nearly 357,000 of 712,000 enrollees shouldn’t have received benefits.

Now, a review of the Illinois Medicaid program confirms massive waste and fraud.

A review was ordered more than a year ago– because of concerns about waste and abuse. So far, the state says reviewers have examined roughly 712-thousand people enrolled in Medicaid, and found that 357-thousand, or about half of them shouldn’t have received benefits. After further review, the state decided that the percentage of people who didn’t qualify was actually about one out of four.
“It says that we’ve had a system that is dysfunctional. Once people got on the rolls, there wasn’t the will or the means to get them off,” said Senator Bill Haines of Alton.

A state spokesman insists that the percentage of unqualified recipients will continue to drop dramatically as the review continues because the beginning of the process focused on the people that were most likely to be unqualified for those benefits. But regardless of how it ends, critics say it’s proof that Illinois has done a poor job of protecting tax payers money.

ILLINOIS IS BROKEN! (Probably all of Medicaid is broken)

I have a colleague who, together with his wife, earn $120,00 a year. They both applied for and got accepted by Medicaid in 2015, even though they entered the income correctly. Both in mid 40's and childless.

Just spoke with him about this, and they're still enrolled. No sickness, but annual physicals received at no charge.

Wait, isn't Illinois 250 BILLION dollars in debt? How can they expand their Medicaid? How are doctors even getting paid? Btw,

The Medicaid program is jointly funded by the federal government and states. The federal government pays states for a specified percentage of program expenditures, called the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP). FMAP varies by state based on criteria such as per capita income.

The most shocking thing today would be to find a government organization that ISN'T full of corruption and fraud.

This is not only a fail by the state but by the federal government. But, why did they do this? Isn't it illegal? Ok, forget that, not illegal, but why did they even apply for Medicaid? There are certain variables that qualify one to proceed to even fill out a Medicaid form I thought. I am confused as to why they even filled out a Medicaid form I guess since it is clearly for those of low income.
