Oooo OOooo!!! I know!

1. Paranormal Mystery/Who Done It
or
5. Open Story - Main character pov is NOT human (could be a paranormal creature, an alien, an animal, a plant, a computer, whatever - just not human

I'm flexible.

Well this is quite interesting, I never knew that this writing competition even existed, but I'll have a go at it....

I'll go for option 3: Archaeology, weird find......

Are we allowed to use illustrations to go along with the story?

Are there a set number of words that you can't go beyond?

The character limit will be determined when I psot the official contest, usually I leave it unlimited.

As for pictures, yes, anything that will ad to your story, as long as you have more writing than the rest of the content lol

Haha. I'm usually the only one you have to worry about regarding limits.

My first option would be Archeology/Weird find. We could do some of our research on ATS!

???? How could you have started already when the contest opens on the 10th?

On another site I linger on, uncyclopedia, we have a contest once a year in which we give each other a topic at the exact time the contest runs. We don't have a clue what our topic will be, it's different for every person. Some get wide open topics, others very specific. We then have 24 or 36 hours to complete the article/page, and a panel of five judges then rates the entrants. We call this one "The Happy Monkey contest". If I enter this ATS writing exercise I'll wait until the topic is announced before I even put my mind to it, but since I'm new to this forum, is there a rule in place on "when to start"? Thanks.

No there is no rule of when you can start writing for it... you just cannot post it until after the contest is announced and the rules are set.

Sometimes you will have word minimums or maximums (usually maximums are set) but if you write such that your story fits in one post you are almost always ok.

But knowing what the topic will be is always a good thing before you start writing!

My first choice is #5, my second choice is the unusual archaeological find. This may get my creative writing juices flowing again.

Thanks for the facts. I will wait until the contest starts before writing or even thinking about it - sort of old habits die hard. Once the bell rings I'm off...unless I decide not to be. Thanks again.

Really awesome to see this much participating early on

Here's the current standings:

Archaeology -- 11
Open Story --10
Paranormal -- 4

Pretty close race between the first two.

keep the votes coming, only 2 days left!
