I was driving the other day listening to old mp3's and a KMFDM song came on my random playlist.

Haven't heard this one in a while and it's funny how sometimes you have heard a song forever and never actually listened to what they were saying.

Recorded in 2002 and released on the album "WW III"

Intro:

A tyrant is a man who allows his people no freedom
Who is puffed-up by pride
Driven by the lust of power
Impelled by greed
Provoked by a thirst for fame

Song really starts going:

Divided and conquered, Gripped by fear
Wishful thinking that it can't happen here
It's well underway, but nobody knows
A repeat of history, That's how it goes

Tell the people that they're under attack
By man-eating foes from mars or iraq
Mobilize outrage, Muzzle dissent
Send in the troops, Strike to pre-empt

Chorus:

Stars & Stripes Learn how to fight
We come together by the dawn of the light
Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare
Stars & Stripes

Control the airwaves, Fuel the reaction
Use every weapon, of mass-distraction
Turn active people, into passive consumers
Feed 'em bogus polls, and harebrained rumours

Cut back civil rights, Make no mistake
Tell 'em homeland security, is now at stake
Whip up a frenzy, keep 'em suspended
Don't let 'em know, that their liberty's ended

Stars & Stripes Learn how to fight
We come together by the dawn of the light
Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare
Stars & Stripes

Stars & Stripes Learn how to fight
We come together by the dawn of the light
Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare
Stars & Stripes

Everything goes, in desperate states
The veneer of democracy, rapidly fades
Wreak total havoc, on all opposition
In any event, fulfill your mission

Totalitarian, media sensation
You will give 'em, domination
Never mind they call you, a liar and thief
By now you're undisputed, commander-in-chief!

Stars & Stripes Learn how to fight
We come together by the dawn of the light
Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare
By now you're undisputed commander-in-chief

Stars & Stripes Learn how to fight
We come together by the dawn of the light
Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare
Stars & Stripes

Stars & Stripes Learn how to fight
We come together by the dawn of the light
Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare
Stars & Stripes

Learn how to fight!!!

Album version with clearer vocals:

This comes from a band born out of East Germany in 1984 so I think they can speak from experience and their message couldn't be more prescient!

Sounds like "The Prophets" would have been a more suitable name for this group.Or maybe "Fight the Future"

To add to the thread: "New American Century", Hau Ruck album, 2005

Count your blessings
Walk the line
Don't move too fast
Or fall behind
There are rules you must obey
They get re-written by the day
Don't do this - don't say that
Your every move is logged and tracked
By the all oppressive eye
Spy satellites in friendly skies

The new American century
Has only just begun
No one exempt from the tragedy
Counterattack start pushing back

Fight the power
That chokes your speech
Fight the power
That makes you bleed
Fight the power
That propagates lies
To keep you weak
Keep you in line
Fight the power that reigns you in
Divides and conquers
Defines your sin
Fight the power
For one and all
Before the power swallows us whole

No one dares to say a word
Our panic drives all human herds
In the land where cash is king
Our silence bought and sold for free
The future's banging on our door
When real I.D. will be the law
Love thy neighbor and turn him in
It's call patriotism

The world is watching in disbelief
Chanting shame on you
How can you stand by so quietly
Letting them rape your liberties

You can't be bothered or concerned
You see no reason for alarm
Prejudice, religion hate
Usher in new mandate
Absolute and resolved
One nation under one god
Lack of interest has its price
As we're stripped of all our rights

Those who cannot learn from history
Are doomed to repeat it!

BTW KMFDM stands for "Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid" or "No Majority for the Mercy". I guess maybe a play of "No Mercy for the Majority"

Also KMFDM were from Hamburg, not East Germany, was confused with Rammstein I think. Either way, growing up in divided Germany close to the border, they probably have a clear view of communism's evils.

How old are you guys? Can you see what us 50 year plus people are worried about?

By the way, the TEA party is not "racist" - that's one of the huge MSM lies out there. They stand for "taxed enough already".

I'm for any way that people can understand how our "liberties" are being taken away from us, along with a very large portion of our earned money in the way of "taxes" - the "obozocare tax" one of the more frightening ways "they" are trying to make a whole population "entitled", poor, and at the mercy of the gov't pawns.

Rammstien was from the '90's weren't they?

We all need to understand what both major political parties are doing to our country.

Great lyrics, here.

Great, GREAT band. One of my favorites AAMOF.

They've done their thing and kept their sound for over 25 years. The lyrics are super spot-on, to the point of (as someone said) being prophetic. Seems like "WWIII" was re-relased just two weeks ago.

BTW, only Sascha K. (the main guy/singer) is from Germany, the rest are from the US.

Probably everyone who's into the genre knows the band and their music isn't certainly for everyone, but I recommend everybody to take a listen. It's like a soundtrack for the current events. Get ready to be even more pissed off..

One of the most educational experiences I have ever had about the U.S. was by living outside it for 6months.

I really recommend that every American spend a month in another 1st world nation, preferrably one where you speak the language so you can get the news from a whole new perspective.
