Well the best way is to use NLP anchoring to associate a color,pattern,noise,gesture or a smell with a desired unconscious thought program that can be called upon to manipulate the observer using his/her own unconscious archetypal themes to bias them toward or away from a given idea.

Red->Communism->Godless soulless---> barbarian/tribal invader
Blue-->Democracy--->Water,nourishment, calm,civilized-->clear body of water,tribal resourses in abundance
Green-->Earth-->green plants,spring time,time of abundance,time of reproduction
