Bijan Ebrahimi, a keen gardener, took pictures of local youths as they attacked his plants and intended to hand the photographs to police as evidence.
But instead officers were called when he was seen with the camera and he was led away for questioning as residents chanted “paedo, paedo”.
Officers realised their mistake at the police station and he was released, but rumours had already begun circulating that he was a child abuser and two days later he was beaten unconscious, dragged into the street and set on fire.

Seriously, what is wrong with people??? Such actions simply make feel sick, as I can not understand how can any person justify such behaviour in their eyes. This is so inhumane... I hope these guys get life in jail.

This is the sick type of lynch mob mentality these save-the-children types work themselves into. They are usually just as bad, or in this case worse, than the accused.

This is also a prime example of the "pedo paranoia" that is so rampant these days. A lot of youths seem to enjoy thinking of themselves as a hot commodity that creepy older men are lusting after.
A lot of people probably thought he deserved death just for being accused of being one. Seriously, people are that crazy.

Save the children type?

This is what happens when humanity reacts with little to no information and lets a small minority relate the facts to them instead of finding out for themselves. Happens everyday. WELCOME TO AMERICA!!!!

I think the human race in general have a great need to be prejudice and since most prejudices are illegal we turn to ones that we believe will be accepted. Thought: Sex offenders(particularly pedophiles) are considered to be less than human by most. Conclusion: therefore it is acceptable behavior.

I don't know about the UK but in America we have such strong feelings against sex offenders that the government saw that as a chance to start the beginning of what we are experiencing(and complaining about) today. Back in 1996 when WE voted to allow THEM to rewrite the constitution(just a little bit) and apply the new laws to all offenders, even though the constitution clearly stated that it was illegal, WE opened the door for further constitutional changes!! ARRGH!!!! When will we learn?

Am not sure there is any surprise here.

Have you seen discussions about this on ATS? It's the one topic I've seen that would make some people legalize slavery and encourage torture.

There was recently a thread on here where members were insisting M Jackson was a peado. I asked for proof, pointing out that it was an awful thing to call someone if it wasn't true, but it mattered not, they WANTED to call him a peado.
I sometimes wonder if it helps them deny their own thoughts.

I won't go out and defend a pedo except the concept of beliefs that some tribal communities believe in (which is perfectly okay I think in those instances), but the most important thing to notice here is how people act so quickly like sheep. They say humans don't share that much DNA with sheep, but how sure are they? lol

In small villages especially it's easy to do the whole Salem witch trials because everyone knows each other and surely to goodness if someone says something against another, it's the truth right? Especially if you get all of your drinking buddies to act with, there's really no need for evidence.

There have been recorded instances throughout history when someone wanted to get it their way, they would accuse someone else of heresy of some sort and that's all that was needed. Need to find out if the witch can withstand the stabbing of a knife? Just create a fake knife that goes in, and you're good to go. These days you can use photoshop, after effects, and all sorts of editing tools to fake just about anything. If you want to pull off a "magic trick" to con everyone into believing your side of the story, you can do that too.

People tend to not think, and thankfully at least from what I've seen on ATS, the general populous does have the ability to think about subject matters before acting. After all, landing on this website would have required some sort of investigation of some sort or referral by a free thinker, right? Well, hopefully...

The guy may or may not have been a pedophile, but people were quick to jump the gun and then you have some guy that may or may not have been innocent burned at the stake. Sadly, we do that here in the US as well. Some parent tells their child "want that new doll? Can you lie for mommy?" etc etc... Try proving your innocence when that happens, but at least in the US you get a chance to defend yourself and plead the 5th unlike most other countries which you don't get a chance to even say you didn't do it.

So now taking pictures of children committing crimes gets you accused of being a kiddie fiddler. Good job, UK. What's next? Making eye contact with a child gets you killed? Saying to a parent, 'What a cute kid!" and you'll be set on fire? Maybe you need to start dressing your kids in those bee-keeper suits that the Taliban make their women wear. Just to be safe. /sarcasm/

Even if the guy WAS a perv...

Aren't most pedos themselves the victims of sexual abuse? You'd think people would be more compassionate towards these criminals. We feel so bad for the children who are abused, but as soon as they grow up and start abusing kids because of what happened to them, it's like, "okay, you die now." Where's your compassion then? The level of vehemency and hatred against pedos has to make you wonder if people are compensating for something.

We see this all the time right here on ATS - people jumping to conclusions based on nothing but hearsay and rumour. The two idiots who killed this man were no better, they just got caught up in mob mentality which many round here could be guilty of.

At least they were caught and punished and a good example to us here why we need to wait for the facts before coming to conclusions.

I used to say it's a witch hunt, but damn, first time I actually heard of someone really being burned at the stake for it...... Wow.

It's dangerous being into photography these days. People get all confrontational and aggressive when they see someone snapping pictures. Lucky for me I am a big guy and able to handle myself. Mostly people just give me dirty looks or call the cops sometimes(never happened up here, but did a few times back in the states). It's what happens when people have fear drummed into their heads constantly. Photography gets two double whammies, could be a pervert, or could be a terrorist photographing a target

This is why people should be allowed be have firearms...to shoot anyone that tries to cause harm to another.

If this guy had a hand gun, I am sure he would have put a bullet into each and every attacker and would be alive today.

*RIP*

How ridiculous is that logic - using the very same reasoning, the attackers could have had a gun or two themselves, then we have a shoot out in quiet West Country village...

Oh, by the way, we are actually allowed to own guns in the UK anyway, we just love them (and never have) like our colonial cousins..

It was just a matter of time before this happened. I see people here at ats all the time who make remarks like,"If it was my kid they would be digging my bullets out of him" or something similar. You are not the law, And you have no right to assume someone's guilt. This is a good example of what can go wrong when people assume they have all the facts.

It is not a ridiculous logic at all. In fact, that gun could have given him a chance to live. A gun is more powerful than a pair of knuckles going against a few pair. Get my drift on this?

Btw, I thought the only guns allowed in UK were water pistols...my bad.

If the guns were allowed then the retarded nuts who killed him will kill him with a gun too, from far as well, like a coward.

Not a good way or topic to promote your pro gun stance.

Guns are good when used in defense.

And in your blind defence of them, for some unknown reason I might add, you are wilfully ignoring the fact that the murders too could have had guns. I think we're fine as we are, thank you very much, now please leave your pro-gun nonsense at the door as this is not the topic for your soapboxing.

Then you thought wrong - you should research your topic before blindly jumping in with both feet.

That's what happens when there is a rule by MOB MENTALITY.
Every so often you see it peaking through here at ATS.
The Martin/Zimmerman incident comes to mind ...
