A businessman who claims he tipped-off the FBI about the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden's secret compound is seeking a reward of $25m (£15.6m).

Gem dealer Tom Lee, 63, claims that in 2003 a Pakistani intelligence agent, from a family he had known for decades, told him bin Laden was in Peshawar in Pakistan, not Afghanistan.

The man allegedly described how he had been sent on a mission by Pakistani intelligence services to relocate bin Laden and his family to a small compound in Bilal, Abbottabad.

A letter sent by Mr Lee's lawyers to FBI director James Comey in August claims Mr Lee subsequently shared this information with FBI agents.

Sky news

So this dude is claiming that he told the FBI exactly where in Pakistan Bin Laden was in 2003 because a Pakistani ISI officer told him and now he is demanding the $25 Million.

I personally think he is talking utter rubbish firstly the Abbotobad construction on the compound did not begin until l 2004, a year after this guy claims to have tipped off the FBI. It is also very much at odds with how the American intelligence claim to have found the compound by gathering intelligence regarding Bin Laden's courier abu ahmed al-Kuwaiti and the whole story behind the manhunt.

I think he is a glory hunter, he possibly could have told the FBI that he was inside Pakistan but anyone could have said that he was in Pakistan and been correct, could even have said in a small town just outside Islamabad. He also reported it in 2003 so again its possible that at the time the FBI did pass it on to the CIA and JSOC who investigated it and did not find any evidence of him there at that time because the compound was not complete until 2004 and some say Bin Laden never moved in until 2005/2006

Several U.S. officials have said that the reward would not be paid for bin Laden’s death, because the compound was located through electronic intelligence and the work of field operatives, not an informant. Also, several published reports have suggested that bin Laden’s compound may not have even been constructed until 2005, which would contradict Lee’s account.

Fox News

I personally just think he is out to make a name for himself and extort money form the US government, but its still interesting.

He is also not very smart, making his name and face public information, really ask yourself, if you were the guy who told the guys from DEVGRU where to go would you want your face all over the press?

Whoops. Paki complicity. To acknowledge that would mean the US admits to their intent to hide him (which they did) and that would make them "enemies' of the US. We need to parade Pakistan as an ally so his story, although true, will never bear 25 million dollars of fruit. Kind of shot himself in the foot.

..firstly the Abbotobad compound was not built until 2004, a year after this guy claims to have tipped off the FBI.

Well, they would be moving him around… (especially him).

It is also very much at odds with how the American intelligence claim to have found the compound by gathering intelligence regarding Bin Laden's courier abu ahmed al-Kuwaiti and the whole story behind the manhunt.

Really? The biggest most powerful intelligence community in the world had been hunting him for years. Did the courier get the dollars then?

Nope, he was killed in the raid.

Also since the raid there has been much more information about Bin Laden's movements when he was on the run, it is believed that up until 2004/5 he was living in Haripur Pakistan

$25M reward?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

Probably figures he might as well take a shot.

To think all that money wasted on 'echelon'. They couldn't find him. How much did that installation cost again?

Bin 'laden was very low tech ever since he found out the Americans were tracking his sat phone during the late 1990's after that he moved on to very low tech methods of communications using his courier to send messages.

The likes of ECHELON and PRISM would have had little effect on locating him however other electronic surveillance conducted by "the activity" was conducted on the compound.

Yea, satellites can't take pictures unless your home has electricity. The technology is there. If people can be arrested over facebook posts, then how hard could it be to find a 'bin laden'. I've never seen the body. If I was president I'd have his body laying on top of the world trade centers for all of the New Yorkers to go piss on him. Then again, I am the epitome of integrity and will be banned from office for doing the right thing.

Just another bs claim in an attempt to give credibility to the Bin Laden story.

Why couldn't have Bin Laden been there, but not been in the compound? What if he was in a different compound and had that one built. Those types of compounds probably aren't littered around every neighborhood so he probably had it built to his needs.

Maybe i'm wrong, but that reasoning isn't really sound unless the guy is specifically saying where and what specific compound.

They did use drones to get a top-down view of the compound for months and found someone they called "the pacer" and worked out a rough estimate for his height. But stuff like that is useless really unless you have a target, its all very well have a satellite but unless you know where to point it, its of no use.

go dig up a few archived earlier posts...pre 2004 posts under the pseudonym riffraffalunas and post 2004 as myself StUdio...

there are posts stating that that bin Laden (an Arab) would have ties and residence in Pakistan

these replies were tied in with the 1969 Swann Street Story...where a small group of hippies in a commune along with a 'Traveler' (most likely a informant to Intel) heard the initial tale of the 911 event targets (except the washington monument miss) the week later Anthrax in-the-mail attack...
& the Arabian (named Landis, another miss) was targeted as being the Blue-Turbin King-of-Terror couched in secret in the nation Pakistan...

if the truth be told... that decades earlier 'Story' that was meant for the 7 people present...unveiled the fact that the mastermind of 911 would be found in Pakistan but originated in Saudi Arabia

In a house, with an address. Remember how Saddam Hussein was hiding in a hole and they still found him? Theres no way he could continue to live above ground when he was that wanted. Same with Gadaffi. They had to hide literally, from everyone. Yet "apparently" (if you believe the media), UBL had villas, gardeners, guards, and couriers.
