It is quite obvious the egg came before the chicken. The egg and giving birth to eggs has been utilized as far back as the dinosaurs.

If the question is "What came first the chicken or the chicken egg?" the obvious answer is the chicken came first, as only a chicken can give birth to a chicken egg.
