YES! It happened in 1938 [exactly 75 years ago today] broadcast live 'on October 30, 1938, and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Not only was it taken seriously by many who panicked.' 'In the days following the adaptation......there was widespread outrage and panic by certain listeners, who had believed the events described in the program were real'.

The War of the Worlds is an episode of the American radio drama anthology series The Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938, and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by actor and future filmmaker Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds (1898).
The first two thirds of the 62-minute broadcast were presented as a series of simulated news bulletins, which suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress. Compounding the issue was the fact that the Mercury Theatre on the Air was a sustaining show (it ran without commercial breaks), adding to the program's realism. Although there were sensationalist accounts in the press about a supposed panic in response to the broadcast, the precise extent of listener response has been debated.
In the days following the adaptation, however, there was widespread outrage and panic by certain listeners, who had believed the events described in the program were real. The program's news-bulletin format was described as cruelly deceptive by some newspapers and public figures, leading to an outcry against the perpetrators of the broadcast. Despite these complaints—or perhaps in part because of them—the episode secured Welles' fame as a dramatist.

"Apparently nobody was more surprised by the mass hysteria than Welles. He's seen here in news photographs, bearded and exhausted, facing reporters' scrutiny the morning after. He's filled with both contrition for provoking hysteria and a little bewildered that anyone in his or her right mind would actually believe reports of an invasion from Mars. He was only 23 but keenly aware that this "scandal" would be the making of his career."

AND SOME OF YOU WONDER WHY THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT DISCLOSE WHAT THEY KNOW AND HOW THEY ARE INVOLVED WITH ALIENS ???

If a short radio broadcast based on a fictional novel can create that much of a stir so as to panic some individuals, think what the disclosure of real aliens might cause ?!?!

It was a PSYOP in my humble opinion. It was simply an affirmation of what was already suspected.

Alien invasions happen every night, right across the border from mexico, possibly 20 million of them and they want everything, everything.... sorry, This story was amazing to me but I kinda understand why. In this time radio was the only form of instant communication for America, and most people relied heavily on the AM radio signal. There werent any video, therefore it was all announcer colorization, and Wells did a good job of convincing the masses it was real by his talents. you could not pull that off today in the mass media world.

With the internet and faked videos you could create an invasion even more real than back then. Some conspiracy theorists have hypothesized that this will be a government agenda as part of the New World Order control paradigm.

And now the rest of the story. Back in 1938 when this happened there really was an alien invasion and they won!
The story about the Orson Welles radio program supposedly based upon a H.G. Wells novel 'War of the Worlds' was given to the public as a cover story. The rest is history and if you examine all that transpired since 1938 you will see Man has been under the influence and control of aliens and still is to this day!

So now you know the truth!

[PS: The aliens told me to write this

Absolute rubbish.

Apologies, but what you have said here is utterly naive and wrong.

Looking at this 'fictional broadcast' in it's entirety, and relying less on the notion that this broadcast was anything other than a staged and setup psyop, one often trotted out by tptb and their information branch the MSM, as a means to constantly refer back to as a kind of catch all to do exactly as you have just done..claim it as proof that the public wouldn't be able to rationaly accept the reality of highly intelligent and technologicaly advanced life visting our home planet.

The basic and obvious flaw in this argument, for anyone over 10 years old paying attention, is that the Welles broadcast is very, very heavilly loaded towards deliberately creating confusion, anxiety and in a fair number of reported cases blind panic, as opposed to the false stated intention of creating titilation and a couple of hours of innocent public entertainment.

Reports are that many of the listeners to the broadcast, did not hear the entire programme...many people only were present for the more alarmist sections of it, segments like a large, bulbous Martian murdering onlookers with a 'heat ray' and having the 'on-site reporter' cut his narration mid-sentence, as though he too had been incinerated by the Martian weapons..

This broadcast was purposely designed to be a means to an end. A method to justify the withholding and continued concealment of vital existential information from the public. It was a deliberate ploy, maskerading as an unintended mistake or error in judgement to be able to 'confidently' say to decision and policy makers in the know, that the public cannot be trusted with this knowledge, citing the Welles' broadcast as a barometer of the likely public reaction to an ET revelation...a deliberately loaded barometer of course.

The 'in a nutshell' point is...the knowledge that advanced and intelligent life exists, is visting and making contact with species residing on our planet, is VASTLY different in psychological terms from the knowledge that an advanced and intelligent ET species is conducting an invasion of our planet and is busy systematically slaughtering and advancing on Human civilisation, destroying everything in their unstoppable and relentless march around the globe.

But...the public naturally reacted as would be reasonably expected in the face of impending death at the hands of murderous and hideous aliens from another world, and the die was cast. The message that the public could not handle the truth was in and the shadowy figures in control of knowledge about our vistors, have been using it as a means to an end ever since.

And you have just added to the propaganda.

I thought the world was waking up? At the least, with everything we know about psyops and government departmental secrecy and shenannigans, we would be that much more insightful and sophisticated than our 1930's counterparts, but with people posting what you have posted every now and then, people 'in the know' or not...the deception continues onwards.

You say everyone panicked, well yeah but in their defence the world and people were alot simpler back then, most people would have thought you were crazy for even believing in the possibility of aliens.
And apart from that they didnt just say aliens had been seen, they said we were being attacked and slaughtered lol
Id probably panic too

Are you an agent of a government dis-intelligence program? Or are you an alien with a hidden agenda?

Here is your opportunity to come clean and admit what your agenda is - don't be shy, we are used to 'double think'.
