Rubio introduces “Delay Until Fully Functional Act”
--to delay the ObamaCare individual mandate

Finally an attempt that might make sense.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Representative Trey Radel (R-FL) have put together a possible answer that does not set any specific time frame.

They are suggesting that the * Individual Mandate * be closed until which time the Government Accountability Office says the websites are working. Then wait six months and open the damn thing back up.

I'm sure that Obama and Democrats will find a way to make this proposal work in their favor.

On Monday, Senator Marco Rubio’s website reported the formal introduction of his “Delay Until Fully Functional Act” to delay the ObamaCare individual mandate:

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Representative Trey Radel (R-FL) today introduced the “Delay Until Fully Functional Act,” a bill delaying the individual mandate under ObamaCare until six months after the Government Accountability Office (GAO) certifies that the exchange website is fully functional.

The Senate bill is co-sponsored by Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT), James Inhofe (R-OK), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Pat Roberts (R-KS), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Thad Cochran (R-MS), John Boozman (R-AR) and Mike Johanns (R-NE).

“It is unacceptable that Americans will soon be forced to pay a fine for not purchasing insurance when the very websites they are supposed to use for purchasing it have been rendered useless from numerous glitches and technical errors,” said Rubio. “Americans already have too many financial burdens for Washington to go adding another useless and unjust tax, especially when that tax punishes the American people for the government’s own errors. I believe ObamaCare must eventually be entirely repealed and replaced, but until that becomes possible we must continue to focus on protecting Americans from the law’s ongoing problems.”

“The President has given big business and corporations an exemption from his signature law, it only seems fair to give you and your family a break from the fine as well,” said Radel. “The Rubio-Radel bill ensures the ObamaCare fine will be delayed until the Administration can show Healthcare.gov and all other sign up options are fully functional.”

I'm sorry. I couldn't get past the point where you said "Government Accountability Office"....

Surely they do not think this name means what I think it means??
Who would have thought such a fairy tale existed?

I feel this bill will come to a dead end. Obama is not going to negotiate beyond the 6 weeks that he benevolently allowed all of us just the other day. Once again he will claim that the republicans are trying to sabotage the very thing America needs right this minute.

That's just my guess though.

This is only fair to the actual people whom will FUND this complete joke. This is the problem with this mess, the last people whom they think of at all is the taxpayer. But some non producer will call the Tea Party the evil ones trying to be responsible and approach this mess intelligently. Delay this till we can find something good in this new disaster, that could take some time......

The GAO exists....

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. Often called the "congressional watchdog," GAO investigates how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars.

The head of GAO, the Comptroller General of the United States, is appointed to a 15-year term by the President from a slate of candidates Congress proposes. Gene L. Dodaro became the eighth Comptroller General of the United States and head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on December 22, 2010, when he was confirmed by the United States Senate. He was nominated by President Obama in September of 2010 and had been serving as Acting Comptroller General since March of 2008.

This is supposed to be affordable care and all I see is that it is more expensive than the already high price insurance companies that are dropping coverage for people which will force them to purchace Obamas blunder care or pay the "fine". Any way you look at it, it is going to hurt alot of people.

I feel it is a REALLY REALLY STUPID move.

Let the Democrats have their way and start up this JOKE of a program. Do you think any of the Independents or wishy-washy Democrats are going to vote Democrat in 2014 after Obamacare rapes them coming and going?

Why in Hades would Republicans want to let the Democrats off the hook?

There's a lot more to the ACA than just healthcare. We could forego all the pleasantries, surrender and install the totalitarian state, or we can do it the slow, painful way. In a few years when the ACA mediators make it a more common practice to begin inspecting the homes of the 'high risk' eligibles, and we begin to accept regular visits from our friendly local Obamacare reps, then they can say, "See, we don't need a warrant to come inside, you'll just let us in."

And then, "Oh, my dear lord what is that... A SHOTGUN?!" Wait, but you're on depression medication, you certainly can't have a gun. You're a WoT era veteran? You're at high risk for suicide, you can't have a gun. You have children in the home? It's probably not a good idea for you to have a gun with children around. You smoke cigarettes, well obviously you're suicidal, so lets just take that gun away from you, mkay?

Oh sorry, I thought this was about Viagra from the title.
Not a bad bill there, maybe something sensible will happen from Congress?
Not a chance suckers!

They are not letting them off the hook. This is simply beating the other to the punch which will pay off as part of opposition layered efforts. Its like the "government shutdown" thing that many believe was a stupid waste of time. But when this thing starts to hit the fan folks will reconsider how stupid they thought it was.

At any rate why didn't the administration get on this right away by announcing a postponement? Doing so would have made them look less stupid and would have given them cover from the heat they are now taking. As it is they look like fools driving on a flat tire while hoping folks see them as someone forging ahead.
