Stephen King has a whole Library of them. The books are captivating.

Tommy Knockers the book...

Late last night and the night before,
Tommyknockers, Tommyknockers, knocking at the door.
I want to go out, don't know if I can,

"Prince of Darkness."

I am assuming you are talking about the legendary John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.. Not a psychological film really but a mixture of physics and the devil with a cameo by Alice Cooper.. =)

I just downloaded "the conjuring"... according to the critics, it's supposed to be one of the best horror movie.
But, I remember when I was 6 or so, I spied my older sister who was watching nightmare on elmstreet 3 or 4...(the one with freddy eating faces in a pizza, and there's another scene in the movie that repeats over and over) I was f...ing scared... I was too young for that lolll

Solid current release.. Some good jump scares..I feel the ending was rush a bit but enjoyed everything else.

The Mist..
has their been a movie with a more crushing ending..Ok A Serbian Film ..but besides that..the closing sequence of The Mist besides having a classic Dead Can Dance song is just awesome..

I have to agree with all of the King fans part way. I read all of his books and they do scare me like no movie ever has. He writes in a way that your brain is full immersed and the movies come no where near what the books do. Just in case anyone may still read... he is worth it.

It was a book. I have read it about 10 times and think I might pull it our again since talking about it.
Wiki Page for Insomnia

To me this book is the true Stephen King. This one or The Long Walk, which is my 2nd fav. If you like to read Stephen King they are true gems!

You beat me to it. Completely with you on that. Jacobs Ladder for me is probably the most truly unsettling film I have ever seen. I say probably because as a teenager the nuclear war film Threads scared the hell out of me and as I found the following morning also gave a lot of other teenagers a sleepless night.

What you say is sooo true. There are many Stephen King movies that I have never watched because they could come no where close to the book. So few people read that it breaks my heart. You can't appreciate the true Stephen King without his words. And I spell that MOON *wink*

Oh and also to add a movie "non King". Alice Sweet Alice, freaked me out as a child!!!

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me

Anytime you have a creepy character like Bob aka Leland, you know messed up stuff is about to happen. And having David Lynch directing means you're bound to have more than a few "what the hell" moments

This is my favorite genre and all the subgenre. Most of the classics have been named so I will stick to recent.

Movies that had an impact the first time I saw them.

The Ring - Unique movie when it was realeased, creepy.
Cabin in the Woods - One of the best in years.
Drag me to Hell - Awesome.
Sinister - Had that creepy vibe like the Ring.
Hostel - Was pretty shocking at the time.

Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was 12 and had just moved to the country terrified me.

Original Evil Dead, remake haven't seen yet.

Always liked Stephen King's Nightshift. The set was awesome.

Motel Hell used to crack my sister and I up..."meat is meat, and ya gotta eat!"

I saw just the very tail end of a movie about a year ago. It wasn't "horror" but was some sort of home invasion story. It seemed when I began watching, there was a glimmer of hope that the family, or some of the family would make it, but they were all killed. It was depressing and the last frames were what seemed to be a dead end suburban street with a street light and it was foggy. Have been trying to find out what movie that was ever since as I don't know who was in it. It wasn't Last house on the Left. I'm dying to know what it was but every time I google a simple synapsis I get movies I've already seen.

I think I like psychological thrillers more than horror. Been wanting to see one of the Ed Gein movies but haven't decided on which one yet.

That movie singlehandedly made clowns the evilest thing in my list of all things evil.
It still haunts me to this day.
