The team’s experiments suggest that exposure to neonicotinoids
results in increased levels of a particular protein in bees that inhibits a key
molecule involved in the immune response, making the insects more
susceptible to attack by harmful viruses.

Susan Kegley runs the Pesticide Research Institute, an independent
consultancy in the US. She tells Chemistry World: ‘The EU has already
implemented a minimum two-year suspension of the use of the most
toxic neonicotinoid insecticides – clothianidin, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam
– on bee-attractive crops, to take effect December 1, 2013.
The US EPA [Environmental Protection Agency] remains unconvinced
that neonicotinoids could be a primary factor in recent pollinator
population declines. This new study, in conjunction with other
observational studies showing enhanced susceptibility to pathogens
caused by exposure to neonicotinoids, should prompt
US EPA to re-evaluate the science.’

If this new scientific discovery doesn't put a stop to GMO's, then nothing will... until the bees are all gone,
Bayer's neonicotinoid pesticides, which now coat upwards of 90 percent of US corn seeds and seeds of increasing portions of other major crops like soy, have emerged as a likely trigger for colony collapse disorder. Watch this NBC News report from last week linking bee kills in Minnesota to Bayer's highly profitable product.
Meanwhile, the Columbus Dispatch reports similar bee die-offs in Ohio farm country, with beekeepers there, too, pointing the finger at Bayer.
• One of my biggest complaints about the agrichemical industry it its market dominance. As I say above, more than 90 percent of corn seeds planted today are treated with Bayer's pesticide. What if a farmer wants to opt out, to plant seeds free of neonicotinoids? Good luck. According to a Pesticide Action Network press release I received today, farmers in the midwest are complaining that it's virtually impossible to buy untreated seeds. In other words, farmers there have two choices: either pay up for Bayer's poison, or exit the corn-growing business.

The suspect seed coating, a type of neonicotinoid insecticide, is applied to many genetically engineered corn seeds to kill pests the GMO Bt toxin cannot destroy.
According to International Business Times, authors of the study note the "results show that the environmental release of particles containing neonicotinoids can produce high exposure levels for bees, with lethal effects compatible with colony losses phenomena observed by beekeepers."

its the crap they spray on crops.

Well, I would say if your handling GMO seed, by all means wear gloves
and a face mask also.

If you're handling ANY seed with a factory coat, you need to be wearing gloves.
Unless you LIKE copper or mercury, or neonics.

I remember seeds being funky colors and having instructions to use gloves back to when I was a yoot. More agro than home flower seeds.
