So There Are No Death Panels Ehh? Obamacare is Senior Death Panel

Okay, being an 'elder', I am pissed. I, and most older Americans, paid into the system (40 plus years for myself) and now the gov is not only taking our money to pay for those who have not paid into the system but rewarding hospitals with points for spending less on seniors. Waiting to see how much my SS is reduced because of increase in health coverage.

On Oct. 1, the Obama administration started awarding bonus points to hospitals that spend the least on elderly patients. It will result in fewer knee replacements, hip replacements, angioplasty, bypass surgery and cataract operations.

These are the five procedures that have transformed aging for older Americans. They used to languish in wheelchairs and nursing homes due to arthritis, cataracts and heart disease. Now they lead active lives.

But the Obama administration is undoing that progress. By cutting $716 billion from future Medicare funding over the next decade and rewarding the hospitals that spend the least on seniors, the Obama health law will make these procedures hard to get and less safe.

The Obama health law creates two new entitlements for people under age 65 — subsidies to buy private health plans and a vast expansion of Medicaid. More than half the cost of these entitlements is paid for by cutting what hospitals, doctors, hospice care, home care and Advantage plans are paid to care for seniors.

Astoundingly, doctors will be paid less to treat a senior than to treat someone on Medicaid, and only about one-third of what a doctor will be paid to treat a patient with private insurance.

Although I am healthy and take no meds, unlike some 50 year old's who take a ton and are in the hospital often, I feel like I and others my age are 'persona non grata' in the US anymore.

Of course, the real reason is we have already paid and they want fewer people on Medicare and SS so they can fund those who get Welfare, food stamps and Medicaid. Those who have already paid are no longer needed.

If you are not pissed, you should be. Are you over 65? You will be someday. Do you have a parent over 65? If not, you will someday.

And Mr. Obama, you too will be 65 someday and you won't get the care you need because you have pissed off so many people who lost loved ones due to you bill.

This is an abomination but no surprise. This POTUS wants to finish off the last of the old guard Americans. This guy and his cronies in congress (both sides) have no conscience at all.

I've paid in for over 40 years as well. In everything that's happened I never expected the US government would try to kill us off.

I agreed with everything you said,except the last line.
Obama is set for life, with FREE healthcare, at the BEST hospitals, by the best doctors available.
Even if that were not the case, his yearly retirement pension is more than I ever made in a decade of hard labor!

ObamaCare is making seniors sick.

Elderly New Yorkers are in a panic after getting notices that insurance companies are booting their doctors from the Medicare Advantage program as a result of the shifting medical landscape under ObamaCare.

That leaves patients with unenviable choices: keep the same insurance plan and find another doctor, pay out of pocket or look for another plan where their physician is a member.

New York State Medical Society President Sam Unterricht is demanding a congressional probe after learning that one health carrier alone, UnitedHealthcare, is terminating contracts with up to 2,100 doctors serving 8,000 Medicare Advantage patients in the New York metro region.

The are 2.6 million elderly New Yorkers who receive Medicare, the public heath-insurance program for the elderly

President Obama seems to think too many seniors are getting these procedures. At a town hall debate in 2009, he told a woman "maybe you're better off not having the surgery but taking the painkiller."

I remember that absolutely stupid comment by Obama. That really showed his hand.

And with what we *NOW* know about how Obama operates and what his general mindset really is....

I would really have to wonder about any *Pill* he might want people to take !!!

We also know about the IPAB in the PPACA, and we know it is yet to be funded, but watch out for them to jam it in somewhere.

PPACA does have *Death Panels*......they just use sneaky names to keep people off track.

That book becomes more of a prophecy day by day.

The big problem with Obamacare is that the people who really need medical attention are going to get it.
The insurance companies are going to pay for it (through exchanges)
Then the money is going to dry up unless more money is taken from the middle class to pay for it.

People will say it is terrible to criticize a program that helps people.

But it is short-sighted.

It may help some in the beginning. But unless more money is fed into the system, rationing will take place. Only the young and healthy will be treated, because they are the ones with the best ability to pay into the system.

The old, infirm, mentally challenged, handicapped? They don't have the income potential to pay into the ever-hungry system.

They will be left to die.

THAT is Obamacare.

Groan.... can this get any worse? You know this Obamacare needs to be zapped and everyone told to go back 6 months and undo every last change before it is too late.

The problem? Obama will keep doing this even if every last American hates him and his, "great idea". The grand narcissists idea is too perfect to fail you know...

I can't find the link now, but I read that allowing people to pay on their own is against the law with Obamacare. I know, makes no sense. Just depends if hospital's are more about point or money...or ethics? Fear ethics will not be in the running.

Don't really know if he is on it.

In 2009 Obama mentioned his thoughts on the treatment of the elderly. Here is the video mentioned in the article and you will find the best part near the end at the 1 min 45 second mark. Yet how many people pushed ahead with this while ignoring what came out of Obama's own mouth? They were blinded by his charisma. Now what's their excuse?

Maybe you're better off not having the surgery but taking the painkiller.

The government only exists if they take money from the people. Therefore, they need new reasons to take more.

Yeah there is fraud in every business, but don't punish everyone (in this case withhold care), to save a few bucks, go punish the fraud.

And what gave you the silly notion that hospitals want you to take a pill? How about some proof to back this outlandish statement?

As for quasi death panels, or rationing of care, yeah some insurance companies have been wrongly doing this all along. The government should be out there trying to reign this in. But instead they are reenforcing this issue.

Why keep seniors alive if they are no longer paying into the system? They have become useless eaters. Looks to me like entitlement reform is built into Obamacare. Let the old folks die, no longer have to pay SS or Medicare.

Some of the the states and federal government are planning to cut Medicaid and SS disability big time by sending people on disability to new doctors and then reviewing there disability.

Many of the fakers will find they lose disability when they find that doctors will get rewards for finding disability cheats.

The problem is a number that are really disabled will also find there disability cut because of doctors that are working outside of there medical Specialties start claiming that the person is not disabled because the doctor does not understand there medical problems.

And if there were not so many cheaters, the people who need and deserve it would not be placed in this position. They really need to look at the Dr.'s and Judges who contribute to this.
