Flying your flag upside down to make a policital statement is equivalent to yelling "fire" in a movie theater when there is no fire or yelling "help" in a swimming pool when your not in danger and I find it disrespectful.

Too bad you have NO CLUE what flying the flag upside down means, youre an Ostrich just like Dary's person

Here's a hint: go look up what it means ok?>

It may be scarey to take a stranger up on their offer, especially being online and all, but ATS has a good bunch of people...I met my husband on ATS and married him, have never been happier... and many ATS'ers know one another...

You should take Kawrider9 up on his kind offer... He is what it means to be an American

This is how it will someday be anyway.. it will one day, only be each other we have to rely on.. for our medical care, for food, for all our needs we will have no choice but to turn to one another..

You are just seeing this earlier than most...So say yes... I will accept help from my brother in these troubled time in our country...

I'm not really sure what the meaning of the upside down flag is in this circumstance. ............

And upside down flag is to mean only one thing, and that is immediate danger to life or property. It is a signal - a communication. Turning a flag upside down is such a simple communication, that it could only mean one thing to be effective as a communication. It's like a bit. It can either be a one or a zero.

That's the biggest self imposed hypocritical statement I have seen on ATS. And to the OP, post the name of the company so people can boycott it and send their emails and phone calls. There's more than one way to skin a cat!

ETA I love cats, and dogs.

Interesting, but not unexpected.

The Tea Party is a poison to some people. It has been a great political scapegoat for many things. Sadly, people are stupid and do not realize that the "Tea Party" is simply just the Republican Party and has been since it was co-opted shortly after it's birth.

This small town car guy simply associates your statement with the Tea Party- which is not shocking since clearly he is an idiot

Your alleged "socialism" is not the reason for the problems of the US. Of course, you will never understand even with having half a dozen topics on this every week here on the forum alone.

But keep crying "impeach Obama" and "socialism"...

Put it that way, let's wait, another few months or years with even with more thousands, millions on the street, without work, struggling to pay their bills barely getting by. So..now explain to me HOW "Obama" and "socialism" is the reason for "economic collapse". Do you even know WHAT causes economic collapse? Again, you think "the government" causes the economic collapse or "socialism" causes (or has caused) the economic collapse? Seriously: Lol...

In addition to my autobody/boat repair shop, I have a used car lot. Tell me what you're looking for in a car and I will make it happen!

Your business is welcome here and I will do
whatever it takes to put you in a vehicle that
suits your families needs. I don't care if it
means delivering said vehicle 1,000 damn miles!

That would make one hell of story, wouldn't it?!

The original deal was a 1995 regular cab Dodge Ram + some cash because we don't have the resources to buy outright with cash only at the moment. So it wouldn't likely be worth your time/delivery cost.

We just need something good for winter that we can also all fit into, as the car we are driving now is a beater borrowed from family. The thought of driving said beater in the snow.... scares me. Its like a pop can on wheels :/It wouldn't need to be fancy.. I'm not about that and couldn't care less about looks. Safety, size and fuel economy, are more important than the brand or appearance for us.

If our circumstances hadn't changed radically in the last two years (we had a nice car and were forced to let it go back due to financial strain after a life changing work accident that left my other half disabled), we wouldn't even be car shopping right now. I would still have my Chrysler, and it would have been paid off next summer, too. That's life for ya...

Anywho..

I appreciate the thought and the willingness to even entertain the thought of such a transaction! Thank you for that!

Its because some people consider Desecration of a flag unacceptable.

Daryllyn,

I've got to hand it to you and yours for the statement you have made to the public.

I took down my flag (even the pole) after 911 and the 2nd war on Iraq. I'm going to use the pole for an antenna mast now.

Thanks for you insights, I'll be star and flagging this one and I'll put you on my friends list if you're not on it already.

I am totally amazed after reading this story. The almighty dollar, for once, doesn't speak louder than opinion.

A person is willing to lose out on a financial transaction, perhaps hurt his business, because of his own opinion? Wow. To me a person like that shouldn't have a business.

That's only one step away from refusing a sale because of say, skin color, or even sexual orientation. I had thought that we as a species were beyond such trivialities, but obviously, we're not.

The reason is that your statement "impeach Obama" is enough to know about your mind-set, there is no need to ask even further, that's all information one needs to get a grip about YOUR uninformed and closed mind. (For instance, there are those people who see OTHER reasons than "Obama" for the current problems in the country.

Again, I didn't make the sign. Read the OP again.

And, I agree completely that Obama is only part of the problem. The list of problems in this nation is far too numerous to list on a single sign in the front yard.

Edited to add:

People WHO DO NOT AGREE with your view are "uninformed and closed-minded"?

Its his assumption about us that is uninformed and close minded. It has little to do with whether he agrees with us or not.

It is NOT desecration!!!

It is allowed per etiquette as a signal of distress...see "Techniques in Flag Display" en.wikipedia.org...

desecration means the act of depriving something of its sacred character, or the disrespectful or contemptuous treatment of that which is held to be sacred or holy by a group or individual. Signals of distress do not fall under that category!

You wouldn't be needing to drive umpteenth miles in the snow in a socialist society, where people live in apartment buildings or have decent mass transport from the suburbs. You'd ride a bus or tram line.

You also would not need to worry whether or not you can afford to go to the dentist or GP.

Unless your family is being held hostage by a burglar in your house or your in some other similar personal danger, it's improper use of the distress signal and that's that.

Doesnt say that in The Flag Code, let me get it for you:

4 USC § 8 - Respect for flag (a)

The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

Where are you? I have quite a few nice four door sedans that would make great "safe winter" drivers.

Money is not the concern here (it really is, as business has been slow the last several years.lol) putting your family in a safe vehicle is now my top concern. ( that and getting my new furnace installed. My house is rather chilly and it's down right cold in the midwest right now. *shakes fist while screaming, damn you old furnace. Damn you to frozen hell!)

I'm not opposed to a road trip to help a fellow American/ATS'er.

Just let me know. U2U me your email addy and I'll send ya some pics of the cars I have in mind.

dis·tress
disˈtres/
noun
noun: distress

1.
extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain.

synonyms: anguish, suffering, pain, agony, torment, heartache, heartbreak;

Just because you are unwilling to admit that this nation is in distress does not make it an untruth!
