Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says government officials like Sebelius should be required to live under the same laws they impose on everyone else.
Paul is now plugging a constitutional amendment that states, "Congress shall make no law applicable to a citizen of the United States that is not equally applicable to Congress." The amendment also contains two provisions that apply that same principle to the Executive Branch and Judicial Branch of the federal government. cnsnews
The amendment states that "Congress shall make no law applicable to a citizen of the United States that is not equally applicable to Congress." The amendment also contains two provisions that apply that same principle to the Executive Branch and Judicial Branch of the federal government. The amendment text can be found below:
'Section 1. Congress shall make no law applicable to a citizen of the United States that is not equally applicable to Congress.
'Section 2. Congress shall make no law applicable to a citizen of the United States that is not equally applicable to the executive branch of Government, including the President, Vice President, ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, and all other officers of the United States, including those provided for under this Constitution and by law, and inferior officers to the President established by law.
'Section 3. Congress shall make no law applicable to a citizen of the United States that is not equally applicable to judges of the Supreme Court of the United States, including the Chief Justice, and judges of such inferior courts as Congress may from time to time ordain and establish.
'Section 4. Nothing in this article shall preempt any specific provision of this Constitution.'
Actually came across this reading a different story about HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius saying that she wasn't signing up for Obamacare (of course she's not.)

You do realize that this statement makes absolutely no sense...right?
She has health insurance through her employer, which is the federal government, she is 100% compliant with the ACA's individual mandate.
Do you think it is fair for laws to require Congressional staff to do something that no one else has to?

Rand Paul is a MORON...
Is he unaware that members of Congress are citizens of the United States??? Thus already subject to the laws?
Or is he just trying to circle jerk his base once again????
Next up...Rand Paul proposes and amendment that requires the American Flag to be flown outside the Whitehouse!!!

Falling back on name calling seems pretty common from the left wingers, moron, terrorist, Taliban, traitors, etc. That all you got?
As far as congress being subject to the laws of the US you mean like allowing themselves insider trading privileges? Yeah right, they make up special laws for themselves and claim to be just like the rest of Americans. Give me a break.

Obama illegally altered law to make an exemption where by many .gov employees or "officials" however you want to think of them, and their staff are not required to comply with this "law".

Congress is exempt from Obamacare. False.
Even a few sitting lawmakers have repeated this claim, but it’s not true. Congress is not exempt from Obamacare. Like everyone else, lawmakers are required to have health insurance. They’re also required to buy insurance through the marketplaces. The idea is to have lawmakers and their staff buy insurance the same way their uninsured constituents would so they understand what their constituents have to deal with. Most Americans who already get insurance through work are left alone under the law; members of Congress have insurance through work but are treated differently in this regard. Recently, a rule was added so that lawmakers’ could keep the traditional employer contribution to their coverage. But they weren’t exempt from requirements that other Americans face. We rated this claim False.
‘Congress should get the same coverage’
For many years, Congress chose from a variety of insurance plans offered by the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program, which serves more than 8 million federal and retired workers and their dependents.
That stops in January, when lawmakers and some staff will be required instead to pick from plans on the health care law’s new exchanges — now known as marketplaces.
That’s because Congress faces a specific Obamacare provision forcing lawmakers from their current plans into new marketplaces — something that doesn’t apply to other Americans.
(Most people with health care through large employers won’t see significant changes under the law. They’re not required to use the marketplaces, which were designed to offer more options for small businesses and the uninsured.)
Back in 2009, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley argued that "members of Congress should get the same coverage that we are coming up with for everyone else." He offered an amendment that required lawmakers to get their health care through the marketplaces created by the bill. It was accepted by the Senate Finance Committee without objection.

On one side we see the usual crowd looking for equality and fairness and on the other side, we see the usual crowd balking at the idea of fairness.
Progressive ideology doesn't like equality.

Progressive ideology doesn't like equality. It is an elitist mindset that infects republicans and democrats. Progressives don't just THINK that they are better than everyone else, they KNOW that they are better and KNOW that they deserve more than the rest.
Common law does not apply to progressives. They are either victims or defenders so that whatever law they ignore, it is justified in their minds.

The GOP demanded that congress go on Obamacare, despite the law not requiring them to, since they got insurance through their employer. Then they change their mind and demand an exception to THE LAW TARETING THEMSELVES THAT THEY PASSED. AND OBAMA SAYS OK AND GRANTS THEM THE EXCEPTION...MAKING IT JUST LIKE BEFORE..>THE SAME FOR AVERAGE AMERICANS...IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE THROUGH YOUR EMPLYER YOU CAN KEEP IT. AND HOW IS THAT UNEQUAL???
