Town criminalizes compliance with Patriot Act

ARCATA, California (AP) -- More than 100 cities and one state have passed resolutions condemning the USA Patriot Act, saying it gives the federal government too much snooping power. But in this liberal fold of Northern California's Redwood Curtain, a simple denouncement just doesn't go far enough.

To cooperate with the act, the City Council says, is criminal.

The FBI's Pittsburgh office wants to know about health problems that could signal the outbreak of a terrorist attack or the release of a biological agent, and now it has a way of culling that information quickly.

There are entire counties in Utah that arent going along with it. Weber county, Salt Lake county, and I believe there are more. Dont misquote me, but there are also towns in Alaska that are doing the same thing

Do not worry kiddies, the FED's already have the means to make the states fall in line with the USA Patriot Act. You see the FED's pratice what may be called preemptive taxation. They jack up the federal tax rates so that the states and local governments have trouble raising enough money to operate; people cannot afford to pay much more in taxes. Then the FED's "gives" this money back to the states for various purposes. The only problem is that the FED's will tell the states, "If you don't pass the laws we want, we won't give you any money". Anyone remember the infamous double nickel (55 mph speed limit in Carter's admistration)? Well the FED's wanted a national 55 mph speed limit (highway speed limits are determined by state law). The way the FED's did it was to tell the states that the federal government would withhold federal highway money from a state unless it passed a 55 mph speed limit law. Since no state can maintain its highways without federal money, they all passed the 55 mph speed limit. The same thing happened when the FED's wanted the limit for DUI lowered from 0.10 percent to 0.08 percent. The FED's simply told the states if you don't pass the law, you don't get your highway money. All the FED's have to do, is tell the states that they will not get highway money (or some other federal funding) unless the state pass laws supporting the USA Patriot Act.
