The whole idea of trying to mix politics with religion is just stupid, it can not and should not work, history has shown that its never a good thing. Letting a book of stories written thousands of years ago influence political decisions today is wrong, the two should not be mixed. Its like Pizza and ice-cream!

And yes that applies to all religion and all politicians.

Why should they!!!

Why should they govern based on passages of a book written thousands of years ago?

And you live in a plutocracy they tell you they are all good god fearing Christians because it gets them votes so they can keep their power (or gain it) and then get some more cash. Their God is not the god of Abraham and the Kingdom of David but the god of power, money and greed.

It sucks but its the way of the wold.

They would tell you they worship Satan if they thought it would win enough votes to get a seat in Congress.

I don't think your conscience is clear. Not in the least.

YOU keep harping that those of us who have produced something give up what we have honestly made to others who just shlep along on hand outs.

Sorry, I'll give people a hand up...but I refuse to give a hand out. I know, my taxes make me a hypocrite since it is the Government who I am paying my taxes to those who really don't deserve it. (I will admit that there are some who do, but they are in the minority)

I would say that you are the one who is bent out of shape demanding that I pay more.

I can understand how you can't spell words that aren't in the bible, since that's all that you ever seem to read, but how can you get that one wrong?

And farther up, it's 'desperate', not 'disparate', which is an entirely different meaning. Thanks for the laugh, though.

Someday I'll do a rant about the shocking lack of basic educational attainment among religionistas. Thanks for the idea.

I have other concerns really. Im not much for party politics.

The only real issue I have with the aca thus far is the mandate. and not the pre-existing conditions part. Its the penalty.

Question:
Could we not have just offered tax breaks to insurance companies who do their part and take up the coverage issue? You know the president talked about extortion. Hes right, you don't reward assholes for not doing their jobs and folks don't get to demand money for not doing it. I myself will not be extorted. If you run an insurance company and someone pays for your service, then you should live up to that service. and you do not get into government law and demand that everyone else pay a penalty for YOUR shortcomings and YOUR responsibilities.

Question:
Why not then simply reward the people who do their jobs? why not let the consumers deal with the insurance companies who wont?

So let me ask everyone something once again. Is extortion legal or illegal? Let me provide for you the definition of that word as it pertains to law.
The obtaining of property from another induced by wrongful use of actual or threatened force, violence, or fear, or under color of official right.



The essence of extortion by a public officer is the oppressive use of official position to obtain a fee. The officer falsely claims authority to take that to which he or she is not lawfully entitled. This is known as acting under color of office. For example, a highway department officer who collects money from a tax delinquent automobile owner in excess of the authorized amount on the pretense of collecting a fine is extorting money under color of office. The victim, although consenting to payment, is not doing so voluntarily but is yielding to official authority.


This mandate, while partly lawful, is also partly unlawful. Why is that?
Who told the President and or congress that if a person doesnt buy insurance that:
A. People would die
B. they would not cover people with pre-existing conditions and a result- would indeed suffer from a condition that could result in death?

Is or is that not in fact extortion?

Second the dreaded penalty-
If you do not buy insurance you must pay a penalty, a penalty which increases every year.



Under the common law and many statutes, an intent to take money or property to which one is not lawfully entitled must exist at the time of the threat in order to establish extortion. Statutes may contain words such as "willful" or "purposeful" in order to indicate the intent element. When this is so, someone who mistakenly believes he or she is entitled to the money or property cannot be guilty of extortion. Some statutes, however, provide that any unauthorized taking of money by an officer constitutes extortion. Under these statutes, a person may be held strictly liable for the act, and an intent need not be proven to establish the crime.


Since when is this government entitled to our money? They can tax right? But they cant threaten me if I don't pay a tax, especially if I dont have it to spend. How is this penalty lawful? You cant call it a penalty, while calling it a tax either. Furthermore, since when is it lawful for insurance companies to be entitled to my money? It isn't nor will it ever be so...

Isnt this a federal offense?



"Extortion is also a federal offense when it interferes with interstate commerce. It is punishable by a fine, imprisonment, or both. Another federal statute makes it a crime to engage in extortionate credit transactions."


Well if youre taking all my money I cant participate in commerce.

So I want to know WHO exactly told our government to penalize the whole of a nations people for choosing to either buy insurance or not buy insurance. Which is by everything I can see here, extortion.

Again, representation, you didn't ask for this penalty but you got it. and when you asked to have it removed what happened? Second, where does that amednment say you can be forced to enter any contract for any service or labor without your consent? Then is this not a penalty causing involuntary servitude?

AMENDMENT XVI
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

You can be Taxed, It doesn't say you can be forced to buy anything under face of penalty. The law is written and passed by a former congress, singed by the president and upheld by the supreme court right? And they tagged this penalty to the end of the year AS A PENALTY. Not a TAX.

AMENDMENT XXIV
Section 1.
The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay poll tax or other tax.

If in any manner due to this penalty you cannot vote? Hmm? You just paid 600 dollars in penalties and now you cant go vote because you have no money to get to the polls? SOMEONE BROKE THE DAMN LAW.

Ok where is this "Penalty" happening? Its handed down from federal- without regard to federalism (see amendment 10) to the states, to be enforced by the states against your will.

Article 1 section 9
No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another; nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another.
Ok.. are states right now getting better costs for insurance than another? Says all over the news they are.

Whats an Ex post facto Law? and why are we talking about it.
Laws that provide for the infliction of punishment upon a person for some prior act that, at the time it was committed, was not illegal.
Hello? was it ever illegal to not buy insurance before? It is now! The federal government has mandated a penalty, therefor made it a crime to not buy insurance and seeks to continuously punish an individual or groups of individuals every year for non compliance of this law. It has never been illegal to not buy insurance and every time you cant.. go figure it out.

I could probably go on and on and have not seen anything that says christians have acted against their own faiths or will towards charity. What I have seen is federal Government overstepping its authority and consent. I dont know how many more ways I can explain it.

Power of the purse? I mean good god. Why cant the congress recognize a right for the people that allows us all to ignore any law or action passed if we feel its an infringement on our right to liberty? # I mean it says in our constitution here.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it.
