Seems kind of refreshing to me. They actually stood by their principles.
politicians cannot be elected into office with the expectation that all they are going to do is stand by principle. The very job requires compromise.
You cannot compromise if you refuse to remain open to discussion of your position on legislative topics,
Also, all the Tea Party members have done is tap into a certain topic of unrest in select conservative districts and states (with regards to thee
senate) and preach what they want to hear. Then as long as they make a fuss on that one topic it becomes a safe district for them because they
sanctify themselves as being better than the average politician while what they are actually doing is neglecting their job. Not saying there are not
ways to back principle with symbolic votes; however, what they are doing is not that. It's part of a game and anyone buying that it's a matter of
principle is getting played.
