And the very prospect of defaulting would cause the financial markets to panic. The Tea Partiers were irresponsible, financially ignorant, nutcases when they shut down the government.

Seems like they were right on the money.

They now seem like the adults in the room.

Obamacare is a flawed program. They wanted to slow down the disaster.

They did what their constituents wanted. What they promised the people they would do.

Seems kind of refreshing to me. They actually stood by their principles.

If the "very prospect" of anything can cause worldwide market catastrophe, shows how fake and illogical our world markets really are......

politicians cannot be elected into office with the expectation that all they are going to do is stand by principle. The very job requires compromise. You cannot compromise if you refuse to remain open to discussion of your position on legislative topics,

Also, all the Tea Party members have done is tap into a certain topic of unrest in select conservative districts and states (with regards to thee senate) and preach what they want to hear. Then as long as they make a fuss on that one topic it becomes a safe district for them because they sanctify themselves as being better than the average politician while what they are actually doing is neglecting their job. Not saying there are not ways to back principle with symbolic votes; however, what they are doing is not that. It's part of a game and anyone buying that it's a matter of principle is getting played.

The "Tea Party" hasn't really had a chance to do anything.

Not saying they would be any better, but how do we know?

I do agree with the whole...."we are all being played thing"...
