Europe has formally started the countdown clock for the launch of its Mars Express space probe, which will lift off for the Red Planet on Monday, 2 June.

The official beagle 2 website has some interesting information about the project.

Lets hope that the Mars express works and doesn't end up as just a piece of junk littering Mars.

I'm glad to see it's a "go" but am sad that the US is dropping behind in space technology.

The US and Russia have lost too many probes already, and a good chance a manned mission as well.

I would predict no better luck for the European probe.
