exactly. a "NHS" of sorts is a very good idea. Works for us in the UK anyway. But Obamacare is not an NHS it is a tax with hefty fines for non compliance.

and the overall logic of the OP is way out of whack.

its like....

"hey you...give me your money!...no??? then I'll just beat on you and take it instead...giving it away doesnt seem so bad now does it?"

Look I don't like Obamacare but the fact of the matter the house, the senate, the supreme court, and the president have all put it into law.

Risking a default to try and prevent this, is probably one of the most asinine things I have ever witnessed, and tonight there were 144 in congress that voted no on the budget bill, essentially saying go ahead and default, we don't care.

Do people even realize what would happen if this came to pass?

I can't believe the stupidity of some people

What are we now held hostage from making sound financial decisions because something is law or because we are in debt?

We have to borrow more money just to make sure the rest of the world isn't affected? This is the american public buying into bail out for the world. The idea is world socialism at the expense of american debt. Even the right talks about "service" to the debt. Its like paying the minimum payment. Were does that get you?

Some day the debt itself won't be the problem. The service alone, interest, will exceed GNP.

Yes a default would have been worse,no doubt about it-but STILL many families are going to have a lot of problems with this-if they cannot afford this mandatory healthcare system, they have to pay a penalty-that hardly seems fair, either. At my husband's work,in the industry he is in,having medical insurance is mandatory, and the company uses one of South Africa's top medical insurance companies-it eats up thousands+thousands of ZAR(our currency) each month out of his salary-but i do not complain,as for the past 20 years our top-class 1st world state hospitals has declined abysmally under the ANC admin,so good medical insurance is a necessity if one has children whom you would like to give the best chance of survival in case of dire illness or catastrophic injury. Our government also instituted a NHI system recently.

Here's our government's national health insurance system explained:

But it's either default now and deal with the hardships or let them bleed us dry more and deal with the hardships in the near future. Either way we are going to experience a collapse. You'd clearly like it to happen in the future but why? Allowing the elite to get more prepared for the devastation that will be coming is just insuring that they have a better foothold in whats to be our future. Sure most if not all of us are anything but prepared for a collapse but that's not going to change. We either rip the band aid off and get to work fixing our problems or we take it slow and give them a better chance of enslaving us.

So you are ok with avoiding the default now, only to default later on down the road? I mean let's be honest here, a default is inevitable. We are going to do it eventually. I was all for defaulting now so we can try to do a controlled crash, but hey I guess the politicians like kicking the can down the road, even if it means it will make things FAR worse for everyone when it all falls apart.

But yea we can have this discussion again in January and February when this debacle comes again.

So what we are saying here is that we as a nation are better off being able to borrow money from China to give jet fighters to Egypt? You know, rather than not saddle low income workers with a debt of around $6000 per year that they have to spend $10,000 to use? A for those that are not up on their math, roughly what a minimum wage worker takes home per year after taxes.

Sorry, but I see nothing either affordable nor providing care when you give up food and shelter for a year in order to benefit from Obamacare. As for Egypt, they can apply for their own loans to buy planes.

Please OP... Tell us what it's like so high up there because we are so stupid we cannot find the way to where you are.

Do people even realize what would happen if this came to pass?

I can't believe you would be so bold as to call others stupid for not thinking like you. SMH!!!

Has it ever occurred to you that we are damned if we do and damned if we don't? We are damned...

This crisis is not and will not be over until the debt is either gone or paid for. Obamacare is a

Do you have 16 plus trillion to GIVE to the US government?

If not... sit back, buckle up tight and enjoy the ride because it's gonna be a hell of a ride!!!

You will be getting Obama care and a default at some time, then another default after that.

Think of it as personal debt.

You no longer have a job but you have a mortgage and loans, hire purchases ect...

Your income is less than your outgoings and there is no job on the horizon. The banks and authorities will still demand the money. Where will it come from. It does not exist. You are going to have to not pay one of them. Next month you will not pay the other.

After time the only option is bankruptcy.

It is all over the West my friend.

We have reached the top of the civilisation 'bell curve'. The East and South are on the left side and going up.

That's just the times we are living in my brother.

Do not deny reality my brother.

Prepare, read on survival skills and mostly speak to your real old elders and ask what they did before they went from subjects to consumers.

We will be living in a world where electric and gas are a middle class (and above) luxury.

We will need each other more than ever.

Be strong, be excited for change and again prepare.

Peace.

Spookybelle
There is never an ideal time to stand up to tyranny except for right now.

And who cares if its a law?

Slavery was a law at one point, upheld by the Supreme Court, but aren't we glad that everyone didn't just accept it and move on?

That's a ridiculous argument.

"Its law so why bother fighting it".

right, because owning people as property, and trying to establish a healthcare system are the same thing

Being forced to work for someone for free and being forced to give someone the money you worked for are pretty much the same thing. Obamacare is not a health care system, it is an insurance system.

But if you don't like the slavery example, there is always Prohibition. Just because something is an "established law" doesn't mean it shouldn't be fought.

If we can not pay the bills we have now how on earth are we going to afford Socialized medicine? All of you progressive sheep are going to be shocked when you find out the truth. You have been fooled.

And raising the debt ceiling is only temporary. The piper will be paid. If you make under 12 dollars an hour you are screwed. This is a fact. Time to wake up.

Forgive me ahead of time, but are you dense. We are the best country in the world, but unlike all the other top countries, we can't provide health care for our citizens. Are you really serious. Are any of the systems perfect,no, but their people are cared for.

I do not believe we have to be socialist just because we want the basic right of any civilized society, healthcare . it just goes to show how we have a greed based society.

If you got right down to brass tacks socialized medicine would be the least expensive way of go but it would put most of our greedy doctors and hospitals. And before you talk to much smack my sister is a doctor and proud of her cus she is the first to say we needed healthcare reform and people not knowing what they are talking about should stay out of the conversation.

I am just amazed America continue to let greed rule this country and that we are still arguing about health-care.

But how were we going to default? The US Gov takes in a lot more than it owes on a daily basis. They could easily have paid the interest on what is owed and avoided any talk of default.

Serious question about all this as a UK citizen regarding Health, I've heard it said many times if you have even a simple accident in the USA it's system seem's like it is designed to bankrupt you. To me that seems like a terrible thing but I have to be completely honest I don't know how much of my money goes to the british NHS but I wouldn't think it's a giant amount yet it seems the system works.

My real thinking is why can't America do something similar why is healthcare so much more expensive there? the whole thing makes no real sense to me. Presumably Obamacare is going to cost a lot more than citizens in other countries pay by the fuss made over it.

I'm really just curious why it's such a huge expense.

I actually know people that were in a car accident, one had insurance one didn't. The one without insurance paid far less than the one with insurance did, for almost the exact same tests.
