I have an E-machines laptop that I took the screen off because it broke.What wires do I cross and which ones can I disregard to enable a monitor hook up?...more info upon reply if needed.thanks.

I'll take this one.

De-soldering can be done in several ways.

1. obtain a "solder sucker" solder sucker example. Use it per instructions.

2. obtain "solder wick" solder wick example. Use it per instructions.

3. Use my method. detailed below.

I like to buy as little as possible, so I make my own de-soldering wick. I use 14 gauge multi strand wire, about a foot or so, completely stripped. It should be clean and shiny.

Flux it up good, heat up your iron, clean it, flux it, then heat the soldered joint you wish to de-solder. Once the solder melts apply the wire, much of the solder will run to the iron and the wire. Repeat a time or two. Your jack will soon come loose. Take care to not overheat the board, patience is key here.

solder in your new one, good to go.

solder, soldering iron, wire, flux, Radio Shack has it all.

There might be some problems desoldering .. due to led free solder being used on most modern components.
If you encounter this ie solder wont melt to remove failed component.. then you might have to use micro drills to remove the item.

Can be purchased in most elctronic stores as well as a hand tool to rotate them.. be careful though.

A jewelers lense and a mechanisom for holding it over the electronic parts is invaluable too.

You shoudn't need to do any wire crosing or otherwise mess with the invertor or data cable
Just hook up a vga cable to your monitor and look for the F key that enables the transfer to external monitor.

I have only used the default Windows App and found it to be at least comparible or better
than my error rate in typing! Just fix the errors with "Spell Checker"
The program learns as you use it.
