Four stabbed at Oulu vocational school

"Four youths have been stabbed at the Myllytulli vocational school in Oulu on Thursday morning. The suspect is a 16-year-old male student from the school.
According to police reports, the victims received injuries to their torsos, and were taken to hospital. Three are women, all under twenty, and one is the school janitor in his early twenties. All were in a stable condition on early Thursday evening.

One of the victims is reported to be more seriously injured, and had surgery immediately following the attack. This person is now in intensive care.

It seems that the victims were stabbed inside the school, two in the school canteen and two in the lobby.

The police have examined the school, and no more victims have been found.

Perpetrator apprehended.

The police have apprehended the 16-year-old perpetrator, also a student at the school. The boy has admitted the stabbings, but the motive for the attack is not yet known.

Early Thursday evening Oulu police were preparing to interrogate the suspect – who, up to then, was too worked up for talking.

The police expect to complete their investigation by the end of Thursday, and said they would report on more details as they emerge. The interrogation of the suspect is to go on longer."

I post this piece of news because i AM a student in this particular school,
and this event happened too deep within my comfort zone.

I was not present at the day because i didn´t have any classes, but several of my classmates were.

The event described to me is as follows; the guy walked into the canteen during lunch hour, went behind a randomly selected girl and stabbed her. Then the person next to her.

A older person in the canteen managed to throw a glass towards the perpetrator which got him to leave the canteen into the lobby, where two more stabbings took place. Eventually the guy was cornered and ordered to give up his weapons and lay on the ground. In his backpack the police discovered a ski-mask and two more blades.

One thing that all agreed upon when today this event was discussed in the class, the perpetrator had a crazy, glazed look in his eyes.
And all the victims were completely random.
What is this?
A 16-year old does this?
Stabs three 16-year old girls and 21-year old man?
A mad world we live in.

Today, in the morning while walking there, i was thinking about what kind of atmosphere would i encounter when i got there? One filled with fear and paranoia?

Gladly, no.
I faced the exact opposite, lighthearted and people smiling.

All the victims have recovered well, one has
already been released from hospital and the rest within couple of days.

Any thoughts?

Questions:

What was the shooting wearing as clothing?

What do his friends say? Was he part of the 'goth' clique?

Had he had any 'mental health' treatment before the act? Was he taking any medication?

Has the stabber given a reason for his acts?

Have the authorities demanded new security regulations in the schools to protect the kiddies?

Does the stabber have any pre-existing ties with the police or military?

On friday, during his first court hearing that was set the perpetrator had show "no sings of remorse and demanded that he should be released".

Today, monday, it has been reported by the local police that the boy has begun to show "sings of remorse".

In general, i have a "you paid the piper, now dance!" attitude, but this guy is STILL JUST A KID.
A 16-year old boy? A child that has something in him gone VERY WRONG.

I WILL NOT judge a child.
I´d like to, for i remember what i was alike at that age.
But, STILL A CHILD.

Answers:

A hoodie and camouflage pants.

Here´s a pic:
www.seiska.fi...

He´s been described as " reclusive", mostly spending his time playing games on his computer at home.

Don´t have the information, but he has apparently earlier threatened to "Kill everyone."

The police has released information that said he had said it was because of "several reasons".

None that i know of, yet the one new thing about the school this morning that i noticed was the security guard. Also there has been talk on internet forums about the need of metal detectors at the doors.

Not enough information at this point. Military? probably not, you are not drafted into the mandatory military service before the age of 17.

Damn fine questions. Thank you. ATS at it´s best

Probably not,
because, surprise, SURPRISE;
everything is NOT about you or your guns.
Sh*t happens EVERYWHERE.
The US consists about 5% of the earths population.
No need to concern about the rest of the 95%.

You ever try and cut a steak with a spoon, carve a walking stick with another stick, or have surgery performed with the doctor's finger. Things that make you go "hmmm".

I have to mention this,
today when the event was discussed(due to the fact that several people on my class witnessed the event, my theacher mentioned about a test that was performed on a norwegian island years ago;
THERE WERE NO REPERCUSSIONS JUDICIALLY FOR A MONTH!
(i have NO evidence about the legitimacy of this story whatsoever.)

Apparently, the crime went DOWN.
"I´m going to beat this guy up so bad....
Wait, his family is going to kill me because THEY won´t face any repercussions either.
I´ll have to think it over."

Food for thought...

I am not following how my teacher´s story relates to this picture,
it is the standard police uniform of my city worn by an LEO who is forcing a cuffed person out of the door and into police custody, and the person is wearing a hoodie and camouflage pants.

This is the perpetrator photographed a moment after he was detained.

What´s your point?

ETA:
This is a picture of the 16-year old who stabbed people while they were eating.
This is the perpetrator of this heinous act.

I reposted your photo for benefit of the readers to the post.

My question referred to that "test that was performed on a norwegian island years ago." How does that connect to the stabbing?

Ah, it does not connect, except in the way that discussions about this event FILLED every students day, and this was just an unrelated story our theacher told us.

In no way is it related to the "claimed" incident at Norway.

Thanks.

Look for this person to have been prescribed Prozac/SSRI -type drugs. Also keep an eye out for any friends he may have had. I'll bet this guy ran with a small clique, although he will be portrayed as a loner. It would also not surprise me if the suspect was into occult satanism.

At this point, i´m not ready to discount ANYTHING.
The ATS motto is "deny ignorance".

Well they just taught me a new one;

"Deny Arrogance".

For me, there was the time before. and the time after.

This event changed not only the persons directly affected (I wish for you speedy recovery and good heath!!!)
but it also changed ME.

For better or for worse?
Too early to tell.

Friday, the school offered grief counselling,
and i heard about a girl who had asked;

"Can you promise me that this person is not ever coming back to this school?"

Broke my heart.

What is it with Finland? Tuusula, Kauhajocki, Hyvinkää, and now Oulu. Has Finland passed a new gun control act yet, as demanded by the European Union? If not, expect to get hit until you comply. It's happening here, too.

Actually, we did. Something about statemens from doctors blah blah,
Sorry i simply don not know. The gun gun laws here are and have been VERY strict, I.E. you can get a permission for a gun for hunting, sports, but for personal protection? Never.
And indeed there are stricter laws in place now concerning handguns.

But for a nation of only about 6 million people (and the 8th largest country in europe by area,
we rank FIFTH on the scale of guns per capita in the WORLD)

The knife or "puukko" has a special part in our society (i was given my first one by my grandfather when i was FOUR, yet i ALWAYS knew it was a tool, and a weapon only as a last resort.)

Do forgive me , i got carried a way...

I don´t see a simple answer;
banning guns or knives. No.
The problem runs much, MUCH deeper.
And not just here, but everywhere.

We are dealing with something else entirely.
Something that gets to pretty much everyone
Fast, all around the world.

Something that bombards us with violence, death and the cruelty that man is capable of in a way that in no way in the history has ever been possible before.

We get information.

Instanly.

From every corner of the earth.

People have been driven mad for less.

It's not only guns. Self defense is like a freaking taboo in our laws.

Indeed you are correct.
According the law these days, we should run.
How does running away prevent a madman with a knife from hurting people?

We have no rights today.

Not the way we had them during the era of Soviet Union.

People just DIDN´T show up

Ahh, Nostalgia...

ETA: I envy the american right bear arms.
I cannot have a revolver( WANT ONE!)
Yet i Can carry a compound bow.(VERY hard to conceal)

Now THAT is SILENT.
