Someones lucky day.

British street artist Banksy has sold several original works of art worth $32,000 (£20,000) for just $60 (£38) from a stall in New York's Central Park.

The elusive painter released a video on Sunday night of an elderly man selling what appeared to be knock-off versions of the artist's iconic work.

But they were actually original pieces painted and signed by the anonymous artist, who is currently exhibiting in the city.

The video shows just eight of his paintings being sold

I love this! There are no words to describe the beauty of not only this artist's work, but the manner in which he gives his art away for nothing, and in the crafty way he does it.

This.. is a true artist in my book!

and will wind up starving to death as well,
WTH is he thinking?

his buyers will be making a killing on the resale

while he makes a pittance, selling at junkie prices,

a great artist banksy may be, but methinks he needs to either:

-drastically improve ventilation in his work area, as he is huffing paint

-stop drinking the socialist koolaid

-if he's doing drugs stronger than MJ, he needs to quit.

The question is:- What would you do? Hang the picture in a place of pride like art is intended to be. Or sell it for top dollah?

Personally I would sell it and buy a cheap knock off print..

Hi all,

I can't understand what Banksy is actually doing in New York anyways...

What is he doing? What is he promoting? Surely not his own BRAND!?!

Surely the whole allure of his art is that he takes stance against such nonesense and a large campaign such as this, over a period of two weeks, can only be to boost his profile and keep him 'relevant'...

Not sure I like it and I've always enjoyed his wit and his wide variety of banter/stunts.

I think that this is an artistic statement itself about value or something. IDK, I failed at art when I did my BTEC so I don't really have the vocabulary, but for some reason this reminds me of when the KLF burned a million pounds.

He's just doing what he does best.... poke at he status quo. He bucks social and cultural convention, even at a loss. I think he's interesting. Maybe he has enough money by now on all his past sales.

My friend and I saved a fledgling sparrow from her cat on Sunday. I think that is way cooler than this story. Unfortunately, it won't make the news.

The KLF...

Now that really was a ground breaking stunt, and thanks for rolling back the years!

Still think Banksy is at his best when 'popping up' with an amazing bit of wit, rather than trying to PR / promote himself like a pop star...or booty girl!

Personally, I would like to see him take the next step - reveal himself, bite the bullet, get caught, take his punished on the chin, re emerge fighting for the people and make MASSIVE waves!...

Imagine him on question time or as a global figurehead!? Wow!

Rather that than him try and earn mega bucks and dodging tax, anonymously!

Cool. I have always loved these little guys. They never cause any trouble or get in the way. They are very alert and blend in and around our houses. i am glad you got to interact with one and save its life.
