I am by no means trying to be rude, but the only surgery you NEED is the on which saves your life. I know it sounds harsh but it is more a fairness or quality of life issue than anything else. If it has been 10 years then it is by no means something that you could not have saved up for.

Sheesh Im glad I dont live in dumb dumb land. You Americans can be heartless bastards.

You want to know why many poor people don't file bankruptcy? Because they can't afford it either. Yes filing for bankruptcy costs money also.

Sure they would send a bill, but hospitals and collection agencies understand you can't get blood from a turnip.
Tell that to all the people that have filed bankruptcy over medical bills.
People that could have afforded coverage but chose not to because they wanted every cent to themselves, then went broke and had to file bankruptcy..... PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN POOR DO NOT FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY...
There are millions that cannot afford medical care. When you have to choose between food and medical insurance which would you choose? You want to know why many poor people don't file bankruptcy? Because they can't afford it either. Yes filing for bankruptcy costs money also.

This is what you will get with government run health care.

I really think this is the big dividing line between the UK and USA menatlity on ATS.
In UK we see people suffering and we want to fix it and most are happy to pay a small bit of our wage for the greater good to help stop people suffering.
USA you just dont seem to care or think its someone elses problem to sort out. Let a Charity or someone else pay for it.
This is to me what makes the UK special and got us through WW2 while we were being bombed to hell. We may moan alot and be abit stuck up but at the end of the day we all chip in support each other when it matters most.
No one in the US chooses between food and insurance.
Poor people rent shelter, and drive old cars.
If they have serious health problems, they go to the emergency room, where they must at least be stabilized.
If they get bills--how is the hospital going to collect?? They might file a lien on the old car, or they might go to court to garnish wages (assuming the person made enough).
ObamaCare will increase everyone's costs--and all for benefit of the Government bureaucracies and the insurance companies.

(Reuters) - Nearly 45,000 people die in the United States each year -- one every 12 minutes -- in large part because they lack health insurance and can not get good care, Harvard Medical School researchers found in an analysis released on Thursday.

Actually not so much. We're dying here by the tens of thousands. And this is from 2009.

Obamacare isn't going to help the really poor people either. In the US you CAN be too poor to be saved and it's still happening.

Saved up for huh?
Know what they say about walking a mile in someone's shoes?
If you knew the whole story, you would realize just how stupid what you have said actually is lol

I cannot because it is from attornies who are friends of mine, one of whom specializes in bankruptcies. I can only go off of what they have said and experienced in court themselves. But the fact remains that poor people do not file for bankruptcy.
