There's another article for you, it's the only one I could find with an actual estimate on how many people were there. 20,000. If those 200 that WERE arrested (including the politicians who saw it as an AWESOME PR move) for exercising their first amendment rights, the other 19,800 would have been as well.

Are you just as upset that the vets in NYC were arrested last night trying to exercise their first amendment rights?

While I can agree somewhat with your sentiment, of not wanting to others to be abused, I think the point that he was trying to make is that a politician being arrested for protesting isn't going to face the same kind of treatment that say, the Occupy movement would. I don't think anyone at this rally would be treated in that manner, especially with Obama himself making the exception to allow this to happen.

But they broke the law. Just cause they are in a position of government does not make them immune to the law. Why is it that if everyday people who do the exact same thing can get arrested and the book thrown at them and yet they do not? That serves neither the public interest or the spirit of the very laws that govern this nation. It is either equal justice for all or a 2 system, where one set of laws for one group and another set of laws for another group.

Actually they had permission to do this protest. This servers the public interest by showing they stand for the first amendment.

Now if we could just get the Tea Party arrested and sent to gitmo for their terroristic tactics.

I would rather everyone be treated right, than everyone treated wrong personally. Our reps have passed many invalid laws that have rendered our protests impotent. Protests are meant to disrupt and call attention to a cause, and they have made invalid laws that tell us when and where we may protest. Bunch of hogwash, can't believe people allowed that to happen.

The Dem's have proven to be a very hate filled group of people. It is just human nature when your as angered as the Dem's are that you would act out.

There anger will eventually get the better of them, when it does we will all see the true agenda of the progressive liberal movement to bring the country down ( Cloward Piven strategy) .

I really don't think when Obama was installed "THEY" thought it would be this hard, America is like no other country in the world as are the people.............we will survive.

If you were to do a little research the government gave the Vets the ok to hold their protest as well. Protest is a right of the people shutdown or not. So yes it is biased that these people get busted but the Republicans who were guilty of the same crimes walked away scott free.

This was definately a PR move. They could have stood with the other politicians, or maybe even the band that they had playing, but instead chose to deliberately take actions which they knew would lead to a highly public, but punitively negligent arrest. Notice how they're all smiling for the cameras. They knew they'd be at the front of the line to get back out. I wonder if they even actually went to a jail cell, or simply down to the police station to be let right back out.

It appears on reading back over this, they did break a law. Not in terms of what I think it matters for those Congress people or my earlier point on Congressional immunity, but the protesters.

It's a cheesy thing to tag them on and with reports of the Capital and Park police opening and closing roads almost arbitrarily to annoy people it seems, it's just flat wrong.

Still, the article says they blocked a street. Hmpf..... The horror...the humanity...a street blocked in a city that is officially shutdown for the majority employer. I'm glad they got those desperado's, eh?

Personally I'd like to know how many were illegal in the crowd...but this issue of arresting them wasn't about that, and it was as cheesy as week old cheddar.

I am so glad you brought this up. People complain about others ( sometimes outright hate), because they have certain opinions, perspectives, objectives, etc. I always see people criticizing how they do "this or that" to "them". But in picking sides they too are engaging in the very thing they are critical of.

Typical, I said no such thing and you know it, so typical, I just stated FACTS. I care not of your sputter and am not suprised at your response. My issue which is simple is that the flow of illegals will increase dramatically if this amesty BS is forced down our throats. When the tide lowers and the coming effects of a group of people injected illegally overrun your existance, I will call you on it. I laugh at the likes of rangle and sharpton, and cannot understand how you cannot see that they do not care of rights, just votes. not even a good try...

Same group of thugs holding the nation hostage no matter which way you slice it. Their policies may be different but the damage they cause to the country and the people is identical regardless of "who's turn it is to drive". Sounds like nothing more than another distraction to me to take peoples minds off the soon to be increased "debt ceiling" which magically doesn't increase the nation's slavery to the banks, the O-BWAHHHH-macare tantrum or immigration.
(All of which will be tied to one another in some obscure legislative bill that the public will never read so long as Miley is still flashing nipple.)

While I disagree with the "Free Speech Zones" GW put in place, I also believe that normal people should have the ability to continue their daily activities without being impeded by such a protest. Hence the arrests for blocking a street.
Since the other 19,000 found a place to protest without snarling up traffic (having the president grant your group special access to lands that are off limits to it's own citizens), the ONLY reason for blocking the road was to cause what happened...a perfect photo op with no consequences.
