I'm getting the "prepper bug".

I wanted to get a machete or hatchet.

After looking at an emptied shelf of knives and gear in the sporting goods section at (swallows lump in throat) Walmart. (The only place to shop in my town by the way.

I went with the Camillus Carnivore. It was actually the most versatile machete they had. I was contemplating the gerber but the Carnivore took the show.

It features;

A Titanium bonded 440 stainless steel blade.
A sheath that seems to be constructed quite well.

Multiple capabilities including;

Digging
Cutting
Wire cutting
Chisel
Sawing

Although it was manufactured in China
it has a lifetime warranty.

The handle seems to be constructed pretty good and is pretty comfortable to hold.

It has a little weight but overall it seems to be pretty good.

It's cost was right at $30.

I did a search to see if anyone had any info on it and nothing showed up, so sorry if this has been covered already.

Does anyone have any information on the Carnivore?

I am making it a point to spend a few dollars every payday to prep. It may be a little late but every little bit counts right.

I thought it was a dog.

Where I'm from we call that a machete.

So the handle is "camo" and the blade shines like a mirror? Whatever gear you choose to carry and employ for whatever reason should be non reflective.

Nothing a little carbon black or coating of mud can't cure in a pinch, still...

reflectivity is a deadgive for your position.

Not that it matters...

I'll keep that in mind.

I do have a bright light directly overhead though.

Mental note: while running through the jungle from said cannabalistic psycos, keep machete low at all times.

Edit: I really do appreciate the information and I do like your posts. You have my respect.

Ha! I thought this was a dog thread too. Yeah, I'm not to bright! Glad I stopped in though. That's pretty nice. I got a new Machete, myself, a few weeks ago. Nothing like hacking away in the back yard with one to make you feel all manly. Why don't the neighbors talk to me anymore?

I hear ya.

It is a step up from the $6.95 cheapo my son was trying to tal me into.

It was a small lesson in you get what you pay for. It just so happens that it fit right in my $30 budget.

You might want to watch this video: C. Carnivore It is probably important to have a full tang otherwise undue stress may be placed on the handle during use.

When it comes to blades and firearms you get what you pay for, full tang is my preference as well.. Battle Mistress is one of my fav's
