Wow. To see this video definitely stirs up something, and you see the evil that has possessed Hitler's mind in color, in HD. You can feel the energy, as if you are transported there. A very frightening time.

I never understood why there is such an "interest" in Hitler in the US. He was a tragedy for germany and the whole european continent. The wounds he inflicted in Europe are still visibly and feelable today and will be there for many generations to come.
In many "pro" posts, nicely disguised with "I don't want to defend but..." I can read, that you never had the chance to speak with german civilian eyewitnesses of these times and merely take your opinion out of books and "knowledge" in the internet. Or glory stories by "the greatest generation". I don't want to make fun of them, they were a great generation in freeing Europe from the terror. But when they were the greatest generation ever, the generation of my ancestors must be the baddest bunch ever lived and this I won't accept.
Sadly you won't have much chance to speak with actual eyewitnesses of Hitlers Rise and the Fall of the german people. You couldn't see the fear and dread in the eyes of them even after 60 years, when they spoke about the Gestapo Roundups, SS Checkpoints, Military Parades, starving Slaveworkers from the Concentrationcamps cleaning up the streets. You couldn't hear the terror in their voices, when they spoke about the destruction the war brought upon their homes and friends. And you couldn't see the bitter tears some of them had, when they spoke about Hitler, his promises, his disguises and ruses and the questions, noone dared to answer "Why couldn't I prevent this catastrophe? Why didn't I speak up? Why didn't I see, what happenend?"
Hitler is one thing above all:
A lesson to be learned by everyone, how a human society can be held hostage and used to their extinction.

Once again, All those praising Hitler, for his Economic miracle, in the 30's forget the fact, Hitler came into power with the idea in his head that he was going to conquer the world... He built up infrastructure, and prepared the populace for a World War.... Created a War machine etc. Innovative yes but he knew that it was temporary, he was infatuated with his 3rd Reich, He was racist, he believed in a master race, he exterminated those that did not look like his master race or enslaved them..

If not for leaders on both side of madness Stalin, Churchill, Truman, etc. We would all be enslaved mining asteroids.. Oh except for Germans... All the Jews would be dead or slaves...

Maybe Germans, were happy when their glorious leader made them believe they were gods, but when the allies bombed the crap outta their cities and the films started coming in, they looked miserable..

No hypocrisy there at all..

I also lived in West Germany for a few years in my life, and I have met former ss officers, talked with the People of Germany, and most are ashamed, yet there are also many many sympathetic Germans for Hitler...

As History tells us Hitler, was not a God, like he saw himself to be... He got his ass kicked and abused his people, and left them to the victors, to get raped, beaten, enslaved and killed like dogs... Yea East Germans looked so happy, in the last picture I saw...

Yeah what a Hero..

I'm in a better position than most to have assessed it for myself - Nazism i.e., inasmuch as I was stationed in Nuremberg Germany as a member of the US Army Band, and part of the 'occupation force' within a decade following the war. Having done so I was accepted by the Germans in a way that the ordinary soldier was not. Our mission as band members was to ameliorate bad conditions, make things better, and to bring peace into their hearts. I got to know them well and believe me - everything you read in the history books was pure propaganda.

I can tell you this in all honesty; the USA as presently constituted is far less democratic, and about a thousand times more inclined to a Nazi ideology than anything I ever saw in Germany after the war.

Those who follow this thread (by that I mean "read") will know that I have commented several times on the Nazi infiltration into the US by way of rat lines and Operation Paperclip etc., but the US was essentially a Nazi nation even prior to the war. Read your history of how American industrialists and financiers supported Hitler all throughout the Nazi campaign - right up to the very end. Read about the Prescott Bush, and Henry Ford dynasties e.g., before commenting any further OK?

In short - the underlying political ideology of the USA is essentially Nazi. I don't much care if you don't believe me, but its on you to do the research that would refute my claims.

It doesn't matter to me if the US is a underlying Nazi State or not, since I don't live in "Gods Country". I'm born, raised, educated and live in Germany, so I have to live with this history, spoke to firsthand survivors of the war and this is still inflicting pain on the german people, even in my generation, born 47 years after Hitler became Reichskanzler.
Don't educate me on German History and I won't educate you on American History. It's nice that you lived here for some years after the war, but you're still a foreigner in this whole matter.

If another Adolf Hitler where to materialise i would hope he would be despatched post haste.

Another 'Hitler' will never appear looking or behaving like Hitler at the end. The truth is that every Tyrant comes as a saviour at first. As a German whose parents were teens in the war, I can say that everything he did that the 'common' people knew about was brilliant. Hence people followed him.
Of course the bad things were done behind a curtain of secrecy. My parents had no idea about any atrocities. He was a hero and a saviour for them.

Before anyone ever tells me that the German people 'should' have known or 'should' have done something about him, let me in on something really scary:

The good people of the US of A are right now in exactly the same situation as the good people of Germany were at the start of his rule.
The only differences are that a) you have the advantage to actually KNOW that something fishy is going on early enough, thanks to the internet, yet nobody seems to DO anything either.

When it is too late you may be angry with yourself believing that Germans were somehow 'stupider' than you and that you didn't learn from our mistakes and made exactly the same.

Just remember that another 'Hitler' might even be a half black man and the president of the USA. Just a thought.

If I was educating anyone (which is doubtful) my comments would have been directed to the general membership, and to the participants of this thread in particular. I rarely, if ever direct my comment to individuals. I only hit the reply button so that other people in the thread know WHAT not WHO I am referring to.

I know the German mind and spirit in an exceptional way - same as I do the mind and spirit of Italians - since I'm an Italian citizen having also lived there for 7 or so years. I am Italian by heritage, but I DO NOT have to live there to know their minds and hearts.

AMEN - my thoughts completely. I have been shouting that comparative warning from the rooftops - nobody is listening, and they look at me askew every time I mention to people that we are now in the exact same situation as were the German people in say 1923 or thereabouts - onwards to wars end. They refuse to listen or to believe it - Why? - FEAR! ................Well stated. Yours I mean

In addition to some earlier remarks with respect to "educating" others in the ways of war and of the world: I think I can speak from a privileged position relative to a clear understanding of the German spirit - Nazi or otherwise, because I was quite familiar with both. I also have a vantage point (that you don't have) that qualifies me to speak from both sides of the ocean, so to speak - hence from both sides of the story.

Proceeding in somewhat of a threefold manner: there's my knowledge and 'lived' experience of German culture - I was stationed at a former Luftwaffe base in Bayreuth prior to having gone to Nuremberg with the regimental band, and I knew my neighbors well. Having been well versed in the German language and possessive of a journalistic spirit, I also had a wide range of opportunities to speak with - and to interview - many different people from "all" walks of life.

Some of my best friends parents were bona fide Nazi's and refused me entry into their homes - couldn't get past the vestibule - at first. They would relent upon realizing that I was 'human.' I would then proceed to get to know them on a one on one basis, actually making friends along the way. They still had flags on the wall bearing swastikas, by the way. A bit intimidating for a young 17 year old soldier I might add - but I learned much from the experience(s).

I have also lived and worked in several other European countries - the longest stay (7 yrs) was in Italy. My experiences there were about the same as in Germany excepting the fact of proximity to the war itself with respect to time. I spent time in Yugoslavia as well.

So in a very real sense I DO have something to educate you (and others) about as regards the German spirit, (from "Gods Country)." Educating people like yourself is my primary apostlolate in life. Christ commands us to know the TRUTH and to preach the TRUTH from the rooftops.

Everyone has an opinion of Hitler that somebody else has planted in their mind.

Nobody can really think much into it without it becoming an emotional mess.

Somebody powerful wanted Hitler where he was in the first place, only to bring it all crashing down.

We know of the history, but we were not present.

It could have been all an elaborate conspiracy for that particular Zeitgeist.

If there had been No Hitler there would have been No Nazi Party.

Hitler takes 100% of the blame for what occurred.

Yea right............that's just like saying if there was no Barack Hussein Obama there would no Democratic Party. Your emotionally (mis)guided comment is known in logic as a 'non sequitur:' (Latin for "it does not follow")

Er NO.

There was a Democratic Party BEFORE Obama.

There was not a National Socialist Party before Hitler.

What history books do you read?

Sorry to say, but I do NOT read fiction
.......er 'history' books. But to counter your somewhat "historical" assertions all I needed to do was to go to Wikipedia ............You meant The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei NSDAP), I suppose.

National socialist parties before German Nazism

National-Social Association, in Germany, founded by Friedrich Naumann in 1896. It is unrelated to Nazism. (Social liberal, progressive, pro-Germany, anti-Marxist)

National Socialist Party (UK), a breakaway group from the British Socialist Party formed in 1916; historically Marxist, it reverted to a previous name as the Social Democratic Federation in 1919 and then merged with the Labour Party.

Czech National Social Party, a civic nationalist and moderate left-wing party known as the Czech National Socialist Party between 1926 and 1948.

Parti Socialiste National, in France, founded by Pierre Biétry in 1903. It became the "Fédération Nationale des Jaunes de France" (or the "Yellow socialists") in 1904. (Anti-Semitic, pro-unions, anti-Marxist)

Austrian National Socialism (pan-German nationalist)

On reading your post several questions come to mind.

Why are you replying to me in the first place?

Why are you telling me about "Operation Paperclip" when my previous three posts dealt with the issue and explained it in detail?

Why are you cutting and pasting from other UNIDENTIFIED sources pretending that the material is your own?

Why can you not be more original?

Finally - what was the point you were trying to make in your 'cut and pasted' posting?

Well excuse me for replying to the wrong person.

You come across as a bitter old man, with a chip on his shoulders.

Bitter old men with chips on their shoulders usually have led unhappy and unfulfilled lives replete with unresolved ambitions and misguided illusions of superiority.

If you had been a combat veteran, I would have been more lenient, but an army band musician? Give me a break!

Read this loud and clear, old man, I'm a Vietnam veteran, 67 years old, and flew 171 Combat missions. I was at the tip of the spear, not some rear-echelon wienie...and was awarded enough combat related medals (with "V" for Valor device, bronze oak-leaf clusters, silver oak-leaf clusters and Combat Crew Badge) to silence your egotistical arrogance.

And to be accused of cutting and pasting by a dip-stick like you makes me laugh.

UNIDENTIFIED sources...pretending the material is my own?

I've been a student of military history longer than you. My father served with Patton's 3rd Army and brought back many souvenirs. One in particular was the control "stick " of a Messerschmitt 109...specifically an Me-109G-14, werk nummer 491496. I remember holding it as a child, my little hands not being able to fully grip it. I'm looking at it as I type this. I resolved to fully understand all the markings on the "stick" which involved an in-depth study of the Luftwaffe. I've done ORIGINAL research on the Luftwaffe, old man, so back off.

The point I was making was that German military technology was advanced enough that American and Soviet agents were sent out to seize German scientists and engineers.

By the way, the biggest surprise in my research into the Luftwaffe was that my direct relatives in Germany manufactured the standard oxygen system for all German aircraft in WWII. Research that, you old fart, and you'll know my last name.

What's the matter, old man?

You were on line after I posted my reply to your previous answer to my last post. I know you read it.

Come on, let's get it on.

Tell me all about how stressful playing your musical instrument was in the Army.

I'll tell you how stressful flying missions was in the Air Force, and how tragic it was to lose friends shot down in combat.

What's the matter, old man, can't relate?

Cut and paste some replies.

I'm waiting.
