whoisguard.com

The connection has timed out

The server at www.nasa.gov is taking too long to respond.

Could it be a peed off gov employee that has taken too much bs and now on top of it all going to work with no pay?

It could be untrrue and aimed at huting NASA or true and aimed at hurting NASA.

I don't really understand why some people seem to be getting excited about this one, it's clear beyond doubt that this is a hoax site, and a poor one at that.

Facts:

Recently registered domain with 0 previous registrants (check domaintools.com, the domain has no ownership history), registered with an obscure service, on October 1st 2013

Registered with privacy service so as not to disclose ownership, which is not practiced by government funded sites.

Site is not .gov, therefore not an official site.

Site utilises a wordpress template with a few minor adjustments to it (including using the NASA logo as a header graphic probably without permission) probably in order to farm email contacts. *Anyone* could set up a site like this.

Social media links appear to be geared towards mars curiosity rover.

Facebook page does not exist (/marscuriosity) which is amusing as there does actually seem to be an account for the curiosity rover on facebook.

Twitter link goes to curiosity rover.

Google plus link goes to a generic NASA account.

The presence of "Bilderbergs" and "FEMA" in the meta tag might as well be a giant bat signal in the sky announcing that the site is nonsense as it is unlikely that such tags would appear in a NASA website.

To date, NASA do not present announcements in this manner, and indeed no announcements are scheduled due to the US govt funding shutdown, nor would NASA be in a position to know when that situation will be resolved in order that they can resume business as usual.

It's pretty open and shut.

Looks like a nice little project that someone set up.
They have this in the source lol

meta name="author" content="Bilderbergs; FEMA; NASA.GOV"

The facebook links should redirect to Mars Curiosity.

Cool website though!

Nasa is basically like the boy who cried wolf,
how many times now have we heard of a BIG announcement and waited with baited breath only to turn around after the announcement and go "Meh"

If there is an announcement and it is actually even semi exciting to the average layman Ill eat my hat, I dont have a hat but Ill buy one and then eat it if Im wrong

NASA doesn't make any such claims -- it is wild speculation of others that think NASA makes those claims.

NASA rarely says they are making "a big announcement". For the most part, they say something benign such as that they "will hold a news conference to discuss a major discovery", but then people (especially here on ATS) let their imagination run away with them, creating threads here on ATS and elsewhere that a simple scientific announcement is some sort of world-changing event.

Go back to the last 5 or so similar threads over the years here on ATS about a NASA announcement. You will see that the original NASA press release regarding those announcements do NOT make any huge claims. All of those huge claims come afterward by the people who engage in wild speculation.

By the way, NASA's announcement of a major discovery usually IS a major scientific discovery -- at least to science. However, it is often too esoteric for the average person to realize the importance.

Having said that, there is no indication that this news of an announcement is genuine.

If it's for real, then my guess is proof that life once existed on Mars.

There's been an awful lot of media buzz about life on Earth not being from Earth. It's coming from all quarters of the MSM right now, so might that be psychological preparation for us ?
