Obama has succeeded in being the worst president in my life time hands down.....If any party has to shut down the gov to prevent that moron from causing further damage to this country then so be it. We have been fishing on credit for a long time anyway, maybe this needed to happen.

The President wasn't the one that started this the Tea Party did. Obamacare has already been signed into law after that the President was done.

Immigration rules and deportations are the law of the land but dems don't seem to mind bending/breaking those. ACA is law for some of us but not the politicians and their cronies. And I believe the Senate had to change its own rules to get the ACA passed.

Actually, the president has shut down government.

Obama has shown that ACA, apparently, is more important than the rest of the country.

I don't care if this was the Affordable Care Act or the Jerk Your Johnson act...We are still a democracy and we do not permit one small extremist group to dictate which laws are passed...THAT is the Taliban.

ACA/Obamacare was a law EXHAUSTIVELY debated in congress and in the public arena.

It was passed and enacted by democratically elected representatives.

We had a year of debate and compromise before the law was passed.

And we have had TWO elections...One where President Obama ran on the promise of reforming healthcare and another after he had passed and championed the law.

BOTH times the majority of Americans spoke and made their will known.

The Supreme Court of the United States has upheld the law.

What we have now is a minority faction of the Republican party demanding that democratically passed laws be repealed or they will sabotage the US economy.

No..NO..NO!! The precedent that would be set via any compromise with these economic terrorists would tell EVERY minority extremist faction of Congress in the future that DEMOCRATICALLY PASSED LAWS, EVEN UPHELD BY THE SUPREME COURT AND VALIDATED THROUGH TWO ELECTIONS...can be overturned by ransoming the economy.

How will you enjoy this when the tables are turned?

Those that mouth off the loudest about the constitution and the will of the people....HATE the will of the people and could give a rats ass about the constitution...They just want their demands met.

Just wait until they default on our nations debt in two weeks and we are thrown into a second recession/depression.

The reason for the so called shut down is because the Tea Party members want to eliminate that special wording within the ACA that makes it so special interest groups and members of the government are not exempt from this law that the American people must abide by. This is so unconstitutional it is not even funny, for the first time in history the government of the United States is requiring the citizens of the country that they MUST buy into health insurance or they will be penalized. The patriots revolted over a 2% increase in their tax, the current state of Americans is to just bend over and take whatever the government shoves at them.

That would be fine and dandy if our Gov was a work of fiction like "The Old man and the Sea"
To bad it's real life and not a novel.

Fiction is the form of any work that deals, in part or in whole, with information or events that are not real, but rather, imaginary and theoretical—that is, invented by the author.

Executive orders are a presidential prerogative and don't effect the laws, they direct how those laws are enforced.

The GOP are looking to circumvent every other branch of government all together including the SCOTUS and pretend that the last Presidential election never happened.

And if the TP wants to have the privilege of directing how laws are enforced via executive order, then maybe they can figure out a way to get one of their ideologically retarded candidates into the white house...until then, this is taking the American economy hostage until their demands to overturn the will of the people are met.

Sorry to say this but the whole entire "shut down" scam is just that a scam, the government still get to use the tax payer money to pay into obligations regardless, the rich in congress will not lose a penny as the markets are still open and working, only the working class that the Over bloated and out of control government hires as the biggest employer in the nation are the ones receiving the short end of stick.

Do you know how much billions of dollars is the government saving when they do not have to pay payroll? just like the furlong, the government is saving money with the shut down.

Wake up people is nothing but a scam, the only thing that is working is the mind of the working government class that are not of "essential" employment getting all scare and panic of no having a pay check.

The government gets to keep it all.

Do the math, how many people are under US employment and how big is the pay roll.

Wake up people you been hoaxed.

The GOP Congressmen are terrified of being Primaried by the Tea Party Taliban. So terrified in fact that they even attached an amendment for defunding Obamacare to a Bill that only funds the Government for another SIX weeks.

Boener knew it had no chance of passing. But instead of growing a pair and just passing a continuing resolution he decided to follow the TPT like a good little lapdog.

The good news is, we are reaching a tipping point where all the district gerrymandering in the world is not going to keep these extremists in office.

p.s. Have you noticed how the Rabid Right has gone back to calling it the ACA? Don't want it still called Obamacare in ten years time do they.

I honestly actually think he's been one of the best, its just he was dealt a bad hand, after the years of Clinton (a inept president if ever there was one) and Bush (who we all "missunderestimated), Bush Snr (who ok was not so bad for a Agency man) but before that there was Reagan (who had Alzheimer's whilst in office) and then Carter and the less said about him the better.

The guy who is in power is always the most unpopular but I really do think that if Obama can either fix the financial mess or put in some kind of plan to keep America falling into a deeper recession then history will look favorably upon him.

Don't get me wrong he has his failings but i really do think that history will look back on him in a good light

"Obamacare" if there is a Dominate Gene in your Family History,, say Mental Illness,, or Alzhiemers,, or Parkinson's, or a Host of other such Genetic Markers,,,
who gets too decide, what pure or acceptable?, and who gets too base decisions on this kind of Information,,Insurance Companies, normally.
Once into the Collective Govt. Data Base, ,,does Senator Clap Andtrap , get to have access too this Data Base, for personal gain? or long range finacial planning, or dare i say,, BlackMail???? remember poor Pres. Reagan with Alzhiemers,,was not a good thing for a President,, for instance.
Thats why sometimes the unknown,, is Sacrocinct.

Nice propaganda piece. All you need now is to get a few brain-dead celebrities, and a video camera and you've got yourself a progressive liberal campaign commercial.

On a serious note, if you actually believe even a tenth of the tripe that you're spewing, I sincerely feel bad for you, because when the wake-up call comes, you're not going to be able to cope with it.

Once again, the president obviously thinks that funding the ACA is more important than funding the country.

www.forbes.com... old article from forbes we will see how true this ends up being but i found it interesting

www.theatlantic.com... last time the debt celing was hit and what happend

Once upon a time, Congress didn't want to raise the debt ceiling, and sent the country into default. It was bad, and we shouldn't do it again. The end. Oh, you wanted to hear the rest of the story? Okay, here it is. Back in 1979, Congress waited, and waited, and waited to lift the debt ceiling, because Congress never likes taking responsibility for the tax and spending decisions it's already made. Now, Congress usually does the right thing after it's exhausted every other possibility, at least when it comes to paying our bills, and this debt limit increase was no exception. Congress did raise it right before defaulting on our obligations would have been unavoidable ... but that didn't let us avoid defaulting on our debt. At least not $120 million or so of it. That's because the logistically and technologically-challenged Treasury couldn't get the checks out in time on such short notice. As Donald Marron of the Tax Policy Center explains, the Treasury got swamped with an inordinately high demand for Treasury bills, which it couldn't meet due to a word-processing error. So we defaulted on some of them. The government eventually paid back everyone what it owed with interest, but that didn't erase this accidental default from the market's memory. Short-term interest rates shot up 0.6 percentage points after the Treasury missed its payments, as you can see in the chart below from Terry Zivney and Richard Marcus, and remained higher than they otherwise would have been for a few months at least. It wasn't the end of the world, but it wasn't exactly something we want to repeat either.

www.pbs.org... what happens if we defualt on our debt in regards to china(exactly what they did when mao took over btw)

news.yahoo.com... info on how the shut down works

tldr seems if you have bonds a defualt is a bad thing and defualting is not the same as repudiating debt (meaning never paying it back) tried to add links from both sides of spectrum

BS...you must have missed the news?

Boehner has been demanding that Congress not be "exempt" (which is BS in itself)
While behind the scenes he has been begging for an exemption..

Politico has all the emails.

By the way...exempt means they won't get an employer contribution like the rest of "employed" America.
Not getting the exemption means that the "gov." won't contribute to their healthcare the way any other employer does.

I would like to give the Tea Party a Star and Flag.

Until the countrys econemy slides so much it hits a point of no return and you end up back in recession.

In which case more valuble jobs will go and you end up with more on welfare.....great logic.

If your smart you will stop ypur happy dance and hope and pray this shut down resovled in the next day or two. The last shut down shaved a good 1% off of growth......a 1 % you or the world cant afford now.

If it not sorthed by 17th of october? Then my used toliet paper will have more value than your doller.

Sure Beez...Or you can say that the President took an oath to uphold the laws of this country after they have been democratically enacted and not cede all branches of power...executive, legislative and Judicial...which have upheld ACA...to an extremists minority faction of government taking the economy hostage.

Quadrivium

Almost 50 million Americans on food stamps, only about 50% of Americans actually pay taxes and many more are sucking off of the government tit because they can't find work.
No need "to bring the country back to serfdom" we were well on the way before the Tea Party ever came into the picture.
Quad

Funny if you dont stop this madness you will have more unemployed and sucking on the goverment tit.
