President Obama is about to make an announcement about the potential shutdown. The Announcement was supposed to be made at 4:45ET, but it appears he is a bit late!

all we need to do now is start taking bets about how much higher he think he can raise the debt ceiling to delay the inevitable.

He really has put you Americans into a really amazing financial situation

Enjoy your debt America!

I'm pretty sure that it's all downhill from here. It's been at a steady decline for a few years now. I see it spiraling out of control within the next few days-months.

Good luck to us.

Still no sign of him

When are you folk in the UK going to realize your government is just as guilty of selling your souls to the Globalist bankers as the US citizens???

Haven't we become intelligent enough to realize that blaming others for our problems while thinking we are perfect is actually the reason we are globally at a point all hell is going to break loose?

Unfortunately, I don't believe that we will ever stop blaming others for our own problems. That is why history repeats itself, and will continue to do so, until we realize this...

It's a sad state of affairs we're in.

I agree!!!

People have become conditioned to accept being a victim versus fighting to survive and changing what is wrong!

I honestly have to say it is attributed to being afraid to die!

I will leave with this saying.........

"Death in battle is a good death, if the cause is just!"

It was an interesting speech that pretty much solved nothing. He hopes that everybody will do the right thing and not shut down the government just because of a few differences.

As I said before, it's a sad state of affairs we're in.

Thank you everyone who contributed to this thread

It seems all news from or about the USA are crazy lately. What kind of politics are they playing? Russian roulette?
Don't they know that you play it only with one bullet and not with a full loaded gun?

Maybe they are walking the Greek path or they are dancing the Berlusconi.

That's an awesome quote! It reminds me of something a Klingon would say!

Unfortunately, I believe that the shutdown is eminent because people cannot get along.

We have been lied to about death for years. It is not something to be feared, but something to be at peace with. Death is eternal peace. My quote in my signature explains how I feel about death.

People must not be afraid. Fear is the mind killer. People must not let it get the better of them. This world has been going downhill for a long time. It is probably going to get worse, before it gets better. I believe God when he said, "Do not be afraid!"

People can make it a little bit better by spreading love, not fear.

Unfortunately, politics is not a very easy game to play. There are a lot of players, and most of them aren't playing with a full deck of cards...if you know what I mean.

The people who should be in change are not, and those who shouldn't be in change, are.

I love your way of thinking and I only wish it was that simple. I just don't see how you think I am spreading fear?

Reality is just that, reality! When evil takes control because good men/women decide to do nothing, what does that leave us?

I really do love your way of thinking! Unfortunately, it isn't conducive to achieving peace at this time in our worlds history. Our those whom are running this world, whom I would like to call evil, going to willingly step down? I don't think so. I pray in my own little way every day, that an intelligent life from another planet in the universe stops this insanity. But being realistic, I don't see it happening! We (as humans) gave these people the power to represent us. What did they do with it?? Used it to enslave us!

So we can allow ourselves to become more enslaved.................OR STAND UP AND FIGHT!

Of course the only reason we don't have a similar pantomime is that we don't have any arbitrary 'debt ceiling' mechanism to play politics with. We just keep piling it up on the quiet with people thinking 'reducing the deficit' is a mighty achievement.

We have a national debt of 1.2 trillion pounds with a population around 50 million. We are just as comprehensively screwed if you look at it objectively.

I saw him on a news clip and he said: one party, in one house of one branch of government can`t shut down the government.

I`m pretty sure that`s exactly what`s suppose to happen, that`s what the founding fathers had in mind, checks and balances to prevent a president from becoming a king or a dictator.

That one statement that he made right there tells me a lot about the way he thinks of what the office of the president should be.
What makes him think that everyone should agree with him and do what he wants, that`s not what the founding fathers intended.

Its a political certainty that he will do everything in his power to shut off funding absoloutely everything that brings financial & social pain to the masses....

its his way of reinforcing the bad-guy image on the Republicans in general and 'demonizing' every legislator that was in favor of shutting-down-govt-operations

what a slummy way to think & act...typical of his type

I'm sorry for the miscommunication. When I said, "You can make it a little bit better by spreading love, not fear," I didn't mean you, as in yourself. The general population is what I meant. I'll edit that

It is up to us to purge ourselves of that fear. Realize that it's controlling us, and then get rid of it through love. It's a lot harder to do than it is to say.

I do it by putting as little stock into this life as possible. Never build something permanent in a temporary place. And this place is extremely temporary. There is something so much greater after we leave this place. People must remember that. Do not be taken by greed or power. Those things do not matter one bit.

I'm glad that you like my way of thinking! I like yours too! I believe that aliens do exist, the good ones and the bad ones. Just like human beings. The good ones will hopefully stop by soon to stop this chaos, but I believe the Earth will purge us from her before that happens.

The people that enslave us, only enslave our human form, not our inner light. Nothing can enslave our inner light or take it away.

I only fight for love, and peace if that makes any sense. This government shutdown might mean chaos and riots in the streets but...What will be, will be. I accept my fate, and if I am to die tomorrow, that is my fate. I don't mind leaving this Earth if it means for something greater.

I won't bother watching. It'll just be more "The sky is going to fall if this happens" crap, and if they've miraculously managed to avoid the shutdown, we get screwed and he'll detail how this new screwing is somehow beneficial to us.

Been there, done that.

Obama better not wimp out again. I am not an Obama supporter but compared to the GOP Tea party he is Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson all rolled up in one.

He should stand firm against the GOP tea parties anti-human pro rich agenda and not wimp out like he has in the past.

did anyone hear what he was telling us about the Unicorn, and Pegasus? I was in the kitchen, but I could have sworn he said the republicans stole cinderella's magic slipper and if she does not get it back by midnight tonight, no more fairy tale bullcrap, and magical miracles will happen..

LOL why doesn't Obama, just put in one of his executive orders and pass his own budget.. I am sure he would if he could get away with it..
